After Nian Xi left them, Huo Lizhi whispered, “Who said Mr. Jiang was an anti-social man? He’s trying to get close to Nian Xi because of how pretty she is. He’s probably a pervert.”

Huo Lizhi didn’t expect the reverberation in the room to be so strong. Nian Xi could hear every word he said.

She frowned. She said to Uncle Han when her colleagues were out of sight, “Can’t you swap me out? It’s more convenient for a policeman to stay by his side, and I was added to the team last minute as well. This might create some misunderstanding.”

“I can swap Huo Lizhi if you like. It might be better for the team dynamic.” Uncle Han heard their conversation as well.

There were dark lines on Nian Xi’s forehead. “I would be his enemy for the rest of my life. He is in the top five at our station in terms of his capabilities. If you swap him out, there isn’t anyone who could replace him. Besides, Mr. Jiang’s safety is the priority here.”

“Seems like we made the right choice picking you, Miss Nian.” Uncle Han laughed as he opened a door.

Nian Xi walked into the room and saw various complex machines; she had no idea what she was looking at. The ceiling of the room was a painted mural of the galaxy.

Standing before an intimidating machine, a man was dressed in a white laboratory coat. He was wearing a thick pair of glasses and he was bending over, looking into the lens of the machine. You could only see his thick black hair and his sculptured physique from the side. There was a ray of light shining on him and it seemed he was emitting an aura. He looked clean, pure and wonderful.

Nian Xi was stunned.

As if it was the first time meeting him, she was unfamiliar. He was different from the man who sat in a daze at her police station.

She had originally thought that he was younger than her, but he was twenty-nine. Nonetheless, he looked youthful.

“Mister, look who’s here!” Uncle Han reminded him gently.

The man was standing still; he looked like someone had froze him in his spot. He was completely submerged in his own universe.

Nian Xi was speechless.

A scientist was a scientist. Even the way he was in a trance was attractive.

She waited for ten minutes before he finally made a move. He turned to look at her and was a little stunned when he saw the two of them in the lab. Through the thick glasses, Nian Xi could see his innocent eyes light up with joy.
