Growing Fond of You, Mr Nian

“You shouldn’t buy that flat,” said Nian Junting coldly. “I’m afraid she won’t live there again. She’ll only live with me.”

“She will come and live there, and she’ll like me,” Mo Liuxi said, and then left with confidence.

Nian Xi noticed that the veins in her brother’s veins were throbbing, seeming to even jump out of his skin. So, she hurriedly pressed a hand on his shoulder and said, “Brother, chill. He only said that to make you angry. My sister-in-law is already pregnant. Can she possibly leave you?”

Nian Junting sat down unhappily.

For many years, no one had dared to be so impolite to him.

“Nowadays, some young people are overconfident, as they have never suffered any bitterness. That is clearly one of them,” Nian Xi smiled.

Nian Junting picked up the note that Nian Xi had taken earlier, glanced at it and said, “Liu Xi, what an awful name.”

Nian Xi didn’t know what to say.

“His name sounds awful, and he’s ugly. He’s only twenty. He’s a little boy,” Nian Junting laughed scornfully, then threw the notebook down.

“My notebook didn’t offend you, did it?” Nian Xi asked.

“How are you gonna deal with the case?” Nian Junting asked coldly.

“Jiang Qifei’s arm is injured. My colleagues have sent her to the hospital to treat her wound. Later, they’ll bring her back here,” Nian Xi stayed silent for a short while, then said, “I’ve contacted her husband. He isn’t willing to come here. So, I called Shuangwei. I think she’s on her way here already.”

Hearing that, Nian Junting immediately pulled a long face.

Nian Xi spread her hands, and continued. “We need to solve this problem for good. What Zhong Yi did is an example. Do you want something like that to happen again?”

“That’s none of my business. Yi Jingxi caused all that trouble,” Nian Junting was unhappy when he thought about it.

“Yet at last, you and Luosang suffered the consequence,” Nian Xi frowned. “The police will put Jiang Qifei in jail for a couple of months at the very most. It would be good if she realized how wrong she was in jail, but, what if she doesn’t? She would hate you and Luosang even more. You can’t kill her, can you? No matter how terrible she is, you need to follow the law. It’s impossible for you to defend against someone like that effectively. You’ll be fine, but what about Sangsang? You’re going to have a child. You can’t have your people protect them every single moment.”

“Then I’ll send her to a mental institution. She’s incurable.” Nian Junting responded flatly.

“The problem is that she doesn’t have a mental problem. Leng Shuangwei isn’t silly.” Nian Xi glanced at him and said, “Shuangwei is as blindly confident as you, but after all, she was a soldier. She won’t be reasonable, and you can’t fake evidence. She’s working in the Armed Police Force now. Do you understand me? Leng Family is no worse connected than our family.”

Nian Junting closed his eyes, thought for a moment, and then looked at Nian Xi coldly. “Who did you call blindly confident?” he asked.

Nian Xi was speechless.

She had said so many words, yet he remembered that part so clearly.

“Nian Xi, Jiang Qifei has returned from the hospital,” one of Nian Xi’s colleagues knocked on the office door, then came in and added, “She’s in the interrogation room.”

“You go with us,” said Nian Xi as she stood.

As she and Nian Junting walked to the interrogation room, they heard Jiang Qifei cursing, “My arm hurts like hell, and my throat is so dry. You better pour me a glass of water right now. Do you know who I am, I’m Liao Qiulong’s wife. My husband is the owner of Qifeng Holdings. He’s super rich. He can get me out of here at any time.”

“I’m sorry, Mrs. Liao. We’ve informed your husband, but he said that he’s out on a business trip, and that he has no time to come here,” said Nian Xi as she pushed open the door and entered the room.

Seeing Nian Junting who was standing behind Nian Xi, Jiang Qifei immediately fell silent. Her aggressive manner was replaced by slight traces of both fear and hatred.
