Chapter 489: Everybody Knows that She Still Loves Junting

The call was probably about work. Luo Sang stood up and walked out to the backyard to answer the phone.

“Sangsang, have you had dinner yet?”

“Just had it.” Luo Sang sat on the stone stage beside the pool and said, “Is this about voice acting…”

“Yeah, because of some schedule adjustment, I’m afraid you need to come to Shanghai to start the voice acting work for the new series by the third day of this month.” Ji Nuanyi laughed and said, “Can you do that?”

“It’s okay. I don’t have many important things to do, anyway. You didn’t need to call me yourself to tell me that. You could have let your assistant contact me.”

“I heard from Mr. Xiao that you’ve been to the beach, so I decided to ask you if you had fun or not,” said Ji Nuanyi.

“It wasn’t bad.” Luo Sang smiled. “It seems that you and Mr. Xiao are getting along well.”

“Haha, he’s the major shareholder of my company, so I’m depending on him now,” Ji Nuanyi replied. “I can’t be an actress my whole life. Besides, actresses will get fewer and fewer job opportunities after 30 if they don’t strive to remain young-looking. It’s a good thing for me to have a few investor friends, so that my life won’t be too hard when I’m no longer a star.”

Recalling what Xiao Si said last time, Luo Sang gave her a tentative suggestion. “You can think about other possibilities, too. Such as… becoming a couple with him.”

“I heard that Mr. Xiao is from a wealthy family. I think there’ll be lots of trouble for girls who marry into wealthy families. I just want to make some money then shut my door and live my little happy life,” said Ji Nuanyi.

Thinking about her own situation, Luo Sang actually agreed with Ji Nuanyi. They chatted for seven or eight minutes, then ended the call. Luo Sang didn’t want to go back in, so she strolled around the pool and looked at the ducks in it. While walking by a window, she suddenly heard Mrs. Feng’s voice. “Why are you in here?”

“Get me a glass of that herb wine. The one we made last time,” said Mr. Feng.

“Don’t drink too much wine. You’re old,” said Mrs. Feng.

Mr. Feng laughed and said, “These kids don’t visit us every day. This house hasn’t been so lively in a long time.”

“That’s true. Since Ji Chuan left home, they rarely come here. In the old days, our place was always noisy with all those kids around.” Mrs. Feng sighed. “Shunagwei hasn’t visited us in a long time, but today she’s here, too. Ugh, speaking of that kid, I really feel sorry for her. She’s been working so hard out there all these years. She just wouldn’t come back and doesn’t want a boyfriend. Everybody knows that she still loves Junting. Now, when she finally came back, she heard that Junting has a girlfriend. I’m really sad looking at the two of them tonight. If that thing hadn’t happened, they would have made such a perfect couple.”

“Yeah, look at that Xu Luosang. She doesn’t fit in. She didn’t even say anything during dinner. I don’t think she can handle any formal occasions. She’s pretty indeed, but can people live on pretty faces?” said Mr. Feng. “Not to mention her family. Earlier, they made a scene about her. When Qingyun talked to me about this, he said he’s so angry that his heart even ached.”

“Speaking of Qingyun, I think he deserves what he got,” said Mrs. Feng. “Those two kids were torn apart because of what he did. Back then, when people found about his affair, the two kids were in such pain. If Murong Cheng hadn’t threatened to kill herself, would those kids have broken up? These past few years, Shuangwei called me sometimes. She cried on the phone every time she mentioned that thing. She said that she didn’t want to come back. Her mother isn’t a decent person, and her father has been devastated by what happened. Those kids didn’t know about that, though.”

“You need to give Shuangwei a little more care. Her family has fallen apart, poor girl.” Mr. Feng sighed and said, “And there’s another thing, if Nian Xi wants Xu Luosang to be her bridesmaid, you must say no. But don’t be too straightforward. Nian Xi seems to have been brainwashed by Xu Luosang. After she and Ji Chuan get married, we need to make her spend less time with Xu Luosang.”
