Growing Fond of You, Mr Nian

Nian Junting was sick of hearing compliments, after all, he grew up listening to flattery. He assessed the retail store and it looked like it offered a good variety, and saw there was a couple picking out clothes along one of its aisles. He signaled to Luosang and said, “Help me pick.”

Luosang smiled as she spoke, “We need a brown suit.”

“Alright, give me a moment,” said the salesperson. She quickly retrieved three sets of brown suits in different designs, and Luosang picked one out.

Nian Junting emerged from the changing room in the $1000 suit; he looked elegant and posh.

“How nice, you look like a superstar.” The salesperson was generous with her compliments.

Nian Junting didn’t pay any attention to her and walked straight to Luosang to ask, “How is it?”

“Dashing.” Luosang nodded her head in approval.

Nian Junting wasn’t satisfied, “Anything else you’re going to add?”

Luosang looked at his coy expression and tightened her lips, “Handsome, elegant, gentlemanly, put together – will that be good enough, Mr. Nian?”

“Do I look that good in this suit?” Nian Junting was checking himself out in the mirror now, “Great, let’s get this then, you can go get the check.”

Luosang was speechless but she walked towards the cashier anyway. As she was paying, she could hear a man telling his girlfriend, “See, I told you a handsome man like him has a sugar mommy. She even takes care of his clothes.”

Nian Junting heard him too, and he looked somber as he stepped forward to put his arm around Luosang.

Luosan flinched but before she could react, a deep husky whisper tickled her ears, “Thanks for buying me clothes, my wife. I’ll be glad to hand over my salary card to you as always.”

“Nian…” Luosan was frowning by now, but before she could say anything, a slender finger slid in front of her lips, shushing her.

“Come on, you don’t have to get emotional. You are my wife and you deserve it. It’s my duty anyway, you only need to give me a thousand dollars for my allowance. It’ll be enough to cover for gas money and I won’t need to spend on anything else.” Nian Junting’s handsome face was plastered with a charming smile, and his deep-set gaze could win an Oscar.

The woman turned on her heels to leave.

“Hey, wait for me, honey!” the man stared viciously at Nian Junting before going after his own wife.
