Yan Qingsi and Song Qingyan would have a scene together. She did not want others to call her acting skills into question, so in her spare time, she observed, emulated, and studied.

Her workload was light during the first week of shooting.

On a night where cast and crew had dinner together, Yan Qingsi could not just skip the event because she was the female lead. She went, after thinking to herself that there probably would not be any issues since everyone knew her relationship with Yue Tingfeng and were treating her courteously the past few days.

When she reached the venue, she saw two of the cast’s female actresses minding their own business by playing mahjong in a flirtatious and seductive manner. The two women looked more like they were ‘guest relations officers’ at nightclubs than actresses.

Yan Qingsi greeted everyone and sat in her seat. She neither felt disgusted nor looked down upon the conduct of those two women.

A woman’s life was hard and everyone who entered the industry wanted to reach greater heights. A couple of underhanded tactics were not altogether inexcusable. As long as it did not involve her, she would not mind too much.

However, Yan Qingsi never expected another person to join them barely moments after taking her seat.

The film editor stood up along with Director Guo and said, “Come over, let me introduce you to everyone.”

Yan Qingsi turned around without paying too much attention and took a quick look. She met the other person’s gloomy, dark, and unfeeling eyes.

A shiver came over her while she narrowed her eyes and tightened her fist slowly!

Director Guo said, “This is our new investor of the film, Ye Shaoguang. Mr. Ye is the Chairman of Times Media. Everyone, please greet Mr. Ye.”

Yan Qingsi’s lips curled into an icy smile. She remembered telling Yue Tingfeng that she would probably not meet Ye Shaoguang after going on set. Little did she expect that the man would become their investor.

Everyone greeted him one after the other. In response to them, he simply nodded.

Once the group finished speaking, Ye Shaoguang looked at Yan Qingsi. “Miss Yan, I have not seen you for a few days and you already look prettier.”

Yan Qingsi jibed, “Mr. Ye, such a coincidence!”

Ye Shaoguang smiled. “Not at all, I invested in the movie because of your presence, Miss Yan.”

No one else there spoke a single word. All of them stared at Yan Qingsi and thought, ‘F*ck, who is this woman? She looks like she knows all the big shots.’

Yan Qingsi said unemotively, “You’re funny, Mr. Ye. We’re not connected in any way, how could I be worth that much trouble?”

Ye Shaoguang smiled. “We’re considered relatives regardless. It’s only right for me to take care of you.”

He looked at the director and the film editor. “According to our respective positions in the family, Miss Yan should refer to me as her maternal uncle. I hope the team here can take care of her a bit more.”

Everyone else felt a tremor. ‘F*ck, maternal uncle? What kind of background did that good-for-nothing have?’

The film editor answered, “Definitely, definitely…”

After sitting down, they all raised a glass.

“Sister Qingsi, shouldn’t you do Mr. Ye the honor of toasting him?”

The rest of them all roared for her to do so, saying that in any case, she should at least toast him a glass, right?

Yan Qingsi smirked coldly in her heart. She stood up and spilled her glass of water ‘by accident’. The water soaked her clothes.

“I’m sorry, I’ll have to go to the restroom.”

‘Mothherf*cker’. She had to calm her head for a bit, otherwise, she might just give him a slap on the face.

Yan Qingsi went to the lobby and resting lounge, where Ji Mianmian was soundly sleeping and woke her up. “Mianmian, you should go back…”

Ji Mianmian opened her eyes but was still dazed. “Why?”

Before Yan Qingsi could speak, a chilling voice came from behind her. “Since we’re all acquainted, isn’t it a bit rude to be leaving without even meeting each other?”
