“Alright, let’s go take a look then,” Su Ting said firmly. “Let’s go.”
They packed their belongings and set off along the route on the map. The surrounding environment gradually became humid and hot, with a putrid smell in the air, and tall reeds and vines densely covering the area.
"It's really damp here," Kevin couldn't help but complain.
"Stay vigilant," Su Ting warned. "Danger can arise at any time in places like this."
No sooner had they finished speaking than a rustling sound came from the reeds. Then, a group of huge venomous snakes sprang out of the water, their eyes flashing green, their tongues flicking, and they quickly approached the group.
"What kind of monster is this?" Leah exclaimed.
"Vipers!" Aiden shouted. "They are the guardians of the Dark Swamp, and they are extremely dangerous!"
"Prepare for battle!" Su Ting drew his "Dark Night Blade," its blade gleaming eerily black in the sunlight. He swiftly assumed a fighting stance, and with a flick of his sword, a leading venomous snake was cleaved in two.
"Show no mercy!" Lena brandished her short dagger, her movements swift and precise, each strike deadly. Her figure weaved through the swarm of venomous snakes, almost like a dance.
"You lot dare to cause trouble here!" A deep, hoarse voice rang out, and a bloated, pale-skinned old man slowly emerged from the depths of the swamp, his eyes like two gems shimmering with an eerie green light.
“We’re just passing through,” Su Ting said in a deep voice. “What we need to find is crucial to our mission.”
"Hmph, whatever your purpose is, you cannot disturb the peace here," the old man sneered. "If you don't leave, be prepared to meet your death."
“We don’t want to be your enemies either,” Lena said, standing beside Su Ting. “But we cannot back down.”
The old man glared at them, a hint of murderous intent flashing in his eyes: "Since that's the case, let's see who's stronger! My children, attack!"
The swarm of snakes launched another attack, this time even more fierce. Kevin and Leah were not to be outdone; they worked closely together, covering each other's movements, and gradually drove the snakes back one by one.
After a fierce battle, the snakes were finally defeated, and the old man fell to the ground.
"Phew, these guys are tough to deal with," Kevin said, panting.
“Let’s keep going,” Su Ting said firmly. “Time waits for no one.”
“Wait a minute,” Aiden suddenly spoke up. “The old man has something else to say.”
The old man slowly sat up; though he was covered in wounds, his eyes remained resolute.
"You are very strong, stronger than I imagined," the old man said slowly. "Tell me, do you really need that secret?"
“Yes,” Su Ting nodded. “We need it to complete our mission.”
The old man was silent for a moment, then nodded: "Alright, I'm willing to help you."
"Why?" Lena asked, puzzled.
Chapter 912 A Major Worry in My Heart
“Because I also sense that something is threatening this swamp,” the old man said. “If you can stop it, it will be a great relief to me.”
"Then would you be willing to take us to that ruin?" Su Ting asked.
"Alright," the old man nodded. "Follow me."
They followed the old man through dense reeds to the entrance of a hidden swamp cave. The cave was cold and damp, reeking of decay, with only a faint light filtering through.
"This is it," the old man said, pointing to the cave. "The secret is hidden inside."
"Thank you," Su Ting said solemnly.
"No need to thank me." The old man shook his head. "I hope you can complete your mission successfully."
Su Ting led the group into the cave, which was pitch black and had a suffocating atmosphere. They lit torches and walked deeper into the cave.
"The atmosphere here is eerie," Lena said in a low voice.
“Indeed,” Su Ting replied, “but now that we’re here, we must find that secret no matter what.”
They continued deeper into the cave and soon arrived at a spacious underground hall. In the center of the hall was a huge stone platform, on which sat a gem that emitted a pale blue light.
“This is the secret we’ve been looking for!” Su Ting said in a low voice.
He stepped forward and carefully picked up the gem. Instantly, a powerful force surged through his body, as if the entire space was trembling.
“This power…” Su Ting murmured to himself, “is astonishing.”
"Let's get out of here quickly," Lena urged, "to avoid any further accidents."
"Alright." Su Ting put the gemstone away, turned to look at the others, and said, "Let's go."
They retraced their steps and finally saw the light at the exit. Bathed in sunlight, they felt an unprecedented sense of ease.
"We're finally out!" Leah exclaimed.
“Yes, but this is just the beginning.” Su Ting took a deep breath, his eyes shining with determination. “More challenges await us.”
"No matter what difficulties we encounter, we will not give up," Lena said firmly.
“Yes, we’ll face it together,” Su Ting smiled.
"Where are we going next?" Kevin asked.
"Let's look at the map first." Su Ting took out the map and examined it carefully. "We should be able to find our next destination."
“Okay,” Lena nodded. “Wherever we go, we’ll face it together.”
“Yes, we’ll face it together,” Su Ting agreed.
"Let's find a place to rest first," Kevin suggested. "Everyone must be tired from the journey."
“Good idea,” Lena said with a smile. “Let’s find a safe place to rest and continue tomorrow.”
"Yes, it's good to take a rest." Su Ting nodded in agreement. "Everyone has worked hard."
"Yeah, I definitely need to get some rest." Aiden rubbed his shoulders. "There's a lot to do tomorrow."
“Exactly,” Leah added. “Today was a really exciting day.”
“Haha, that’s true,” Kevin laughed. “But we’re used to it, aren’t we?”
“It gets tiring once you get used to it.” Lena smiled and patted Kevin on the shoulder. “Let’s go find a place to camp.”
“Okay.” Su Ting led the way, “Follow me, I’ll find a safe place.”
“Just stick close to Su Ting,” Lena said, turning to the others. “He always finds the best spots.”
Chapter 913 How's it here?
“Of course,” Kevin replied with a smile. “With Su Ting around, we’re not afraid of getting lost.”
“That’s right,” Aiden agreed. “Let’s go with him.”
"Okay, stay close," Su Ting said, turning back to remind him, "Watch your step."
Following Su Ting's lead, the group continued their journey through this unfamiliar land. The scenery under the setting sun was breathtakingly beautiful, but no one knew what challenges awaited them ahead.
"How is it here?" Su Ting stopped and looked around to make sure there was no danger before asking.
They arrived at a relatively open space, surrounded by tall trees that formed a natural barrier. Not far away, a clear stream flowed, its gentle murmur adding a touch of life to the tranquil environment.
“Very good.” Lena nodded. “There’s a water source and shelter, perfect for camping.”
“Then let’s rest here,” Su Ting said. “Everyone, let’s divide the work: set up tents, start a fire, and prepare food.”
“Okay!” Kevin readily agreed. “I’ll set up the tent.”
"I'll go find some firewood," Aiden volunteered, "We need to prepare the materials for heating and cooking first."
“I’ll go with you.” Leah followed Aiden. “The more people there are, the more strength we have.”
“Okay, let’s go.” Aiden smiled and walked with Leah into the depths of the woods.
Su Ting and Lena began packing their backpacks, preparing to set up the tent. Soon, Kevin had the tent up and it looked quite sturdy.
“This tent is really nice,” Su Ting said with satisfaction. “Thank you for your hard work, Kevin.”
"You're welcome." Kevin waved his hand with a smile. "We're all family."
“Oh, right, Lena,” Su Ting suddenly remembered something, “go check the surrounding area to make sure it’s safe.”
“Okay.” Lena drew her short dagger and walked lightly into the surrounding woods, carefully examining every corner.
Soon, Aiden and Lia returned with a pile of firewood, and the fire was quickly lit, its warm light illuminating the entire camp.
"This feels so good." Kevin stretched and lay down by the campfire, a satisfied smile on his face.
“It’s really good.” Leah also sat by the fire, reaching out to warm her hands. “I’m exhausted today.”
"Today's battle was really intense," Su Ting mused, "but our teamwork is getting better and better."
“Yes,” Lena nodded in agreement as she returned to the camp. “We are now able to handle all kinds of emergencies.”
“Speaking of which,” Aiden said, looking at the map in his hand, “where should we go next?”
"Let's get some rest first," Su Ting said with a smile. "We can discuss these things tomorrow. Tonight, we can relax."
"Alright then." Aiden smiled and put the map away. "Whatever you say."
The group sat around the fire, enjoying a rare moment of peace. The flames danced in the night, illuminating everyone's faces and creating a particularly warm atmosphere.
"Tomorrow will be better," Lena said softly, gazing at the starry sky.
“Yes, we definitely will,” Su Ting replied firmly, “as long as we work together.”
