"Tomorrow's operation must be flawless," Su Ting muttered to himself. "We must be extremely careful."
“Yes,” Kevin suddenly walked over, interrupting his thoughts, “I’ve already discussed it with Su Ting. Tomorrow we’ll split into two groups. One group will be responsible for gathering intelligence, and the other group will stay here to guard.”
“Very good.” Su Ting nodded. “We must ensure everyone’s safety.”
“Su Ting, we need to find a place to stay temporarily as soon as possible.” Lena also came over, her eyes filled with determination. “This place is secluded, but it’s not safe.”
“I understand,” Su Ting said in a deep voice, “but we can’t rush things. Intelligence gathering is very important; without concrete information, taking rash action will only bring greater risks.”
“You’re right,” Kevin nodded. “We must be careful.”
"So what are our specific tasks for tomorrow?" Feng interjected. "I need to know my assignments."
"You few are responsible for scouting the nearby villages and towns," Su Ting said, pointing to Feng, Kevin, and himself. "Be careful and avoid attracting unnecessary attention. Lena, you and Lia stay here and keep watch."
"No problem," Feng nodded. "We'll be back as soon as possible."
"Okay." Su Ting nodded. "Everyone, go and rest. We'll set off early tomorrow morning."
As night deepened, the cave gradually quieted down. Su Ting returned to his corner, closed his eyes, and tried to fall asleep, but his heart remained restless. He thought of his past experiences and his lost companions, and a nameless sadness welled up in his heart.
After an unknown amount of time, Su Ting was awakened by a murmur. He opened his eyes and found Lena sitting beside him, holding a map and studying it carefully by the dim firelight.
"Why aren't you asleep yet?" Su Ting asked softly.
“There are some things I don’t understand.” Lena looked up at him. “Regarding the location of the next outpost, I found a few possible options on the map, but each place has its dangers.”
"Let me see." Su Ting took the map and began to study it carefully. They discussed it for a while and finally decided to choose a relatively secluded location with abundant resources.
“This location looks good,” Su Ting said, pointing to a mark on the map. “We can rest here for a while before continuing our journey.”
“Yes, I think so too,” Lena nodded. “Hopefully we can find a safe haven.”
"We definitely will." Su Ting patted her shoulder. "Everyone will do their best to protect each other."
The next morning, just as dawn was breaking, the entire team was ready. Su Ting stood before them and briefly explained the mission: "Today's objective is clear: we need to gather useful clues as quickly as possible. Kevin, Su Ting, and Feng, the three of you will form a team and be extremely careful. Lena and Lia, you two will stay behind to ensure the safety of this place."
"Yes!" Kevin answered firmly, "We will definitely complete the mission successfully."
Chapter 899: Preparations for Evacuation Begin
"Be careful," Lena cautioned. "Remember to stay in touch."
"Don't worry," Feng laughed, "we'll be back as soon as possible."
Everyone said their goodbyes and headed off in different directions. After watching Kevin and the other two leave, Su Ting turned to Lena and said, "We need to start preparing for our evacuation. We must act immediately once we receive news from them."
"Understood," Lena nodded. "I will arrange everything."
For the next few hours, Lena and Lia were busy cleaning the cave, packing their equipment, and preparing for an emergency evacuation. Su Ting stood at the cave entrance, vigilantly observing the surroundings in case of any unforeseen circumstances.
As evening fell, Kevin and his two companions finally returned. Their faces showed obvious fatigue, but their eyes shone with excitement.
"Any news?" Su Ting hurriedly stepped forward.
“We’ve found some clues,” Kevin said breathlessly. “In a small village not far from here, we heard there’s a hidden cellar that would be perfect for us to hide in temporarily.”
"Great!" Su Ting breathed a sigh of relief. "Get the equipment ready immediately, let's set off right away."
“Wait a minute,” Su Ting added, “We encountered some people of unknown origin on the road; they also seem to be looking for a similar stronghold.”
“Then we need to be even more careful,” Su Ting said seriously. “We can’t let them discover our whereabouts.”
"Understood," Kevin nodded. "Let's set off now."
The group quickly packed their gear and prepared to head towards the small village. Su Ting glanced back at the cave, silently praying, "I hope we can find a way out."
"Su Ting, hurry up," Lena urged. "We can't delay any longer."
“Okay.” Su Ting took a deep breath and led the team into the vast darkness.
The night was as dark as ink, and Su Ting and his group set off for the small village. Moonlight filtered through the treetops, casting dappled shadows that added an air of mystery to their journey. Kevin walked at the front, vigilantly observing their surroundings, fearing that some danger might suddenly appear.
"Something seems off around here," Kevin said softly, stopping in his tracks. "Don't you guys notice a strange smell in the air?"
“I feel the same way,” Su Ting nodded. “But we have to be careful and can’t be careless.”
“Everyone be on high alert,” Su Ting said in a low voice. “We’ll continue forward, but keep quiet.”
The group continued forward, proceeding cautiously with each step. Lena and Lia followed closely behind, their weapons ready to respond to any unexpected situations.
After walking for about half an hour, they finally saw the outline of the small village. The village was small, with only a few scattered houses, and appeared exceptionally quiet. Su Ting gestured for everyone to hide temporarily in a dense thicket of bushes and wait for an opportunity to act.
“We need to check if it’s safe here,” Su Ting said in a low voice. “Kevin, you and Feng go and scout out the situation in the village first.”
"Understood." Kevin and Feng nodded and quickly stealthily made their way into the village.
They carefully observed the village and found almost no one except for the occasional barking of a few dogs. A gentle breeze tapped on the door of one house, but there was no response. They tried pushing the door open, only to find it empty.
Chapter 900 may contain an ambush.
"It seems everyone here has left," Feng said softly. "But we must be careful; there might be an ambush."
The two quickly returned to where Su Ting and his men were hiding and reported the situation. Su Ting pondered for a moment and decided to first search for the hidden cellar in the village.
“Let’s go in and look for it,” Su Ting said. “Kevin and Feng, you two are in charge of perimeter security. Notify us immediately of any unusual situations.”
"Yes." Kevin and Feng acted quickly, each taking up a high point in the village, surveying the surroundings from above.
Suting, Lena, and Lia entered the village and began to examine the seemingly ordinary houses one by one. They discovered something unusual in a dilapidated barn: a blurry map hanging on the wall, marked with some symbols in red pen.
“There must be some secret here,” Su Ting said excitedly. Following the markings on the map, he found a hidden mechanism, and with a gentle push, a set of stairs slowly appeared.
The three carefully descended the stairs and entered a dimly lit basement. The basement was small but very dry, furnished with simple furniture and supplies. A new map hung on the wall, clearly marking several nearby outposts.
“This place looks nice,” Lena nodded. “We can settle down here for the time being.”
“But we need more clues,” Su Ting said. “There are some markings on this map that we need to investigate further.”
Just then, a series of hurried footsteps came from outside, and Kevin rushed in from outside, his face filled with anxiety.
"Su Ting, something bad has happened!" Kevin gasped. "I just spotted a group of people outside, and they seem to be searching this cellar as well!"
"How many of them are there?" Su Ting asked calmly.
“There are at least a dozen of them, fully equipped,” Kevin said nervously. “And they’ve already spotted us and are heading this way.”
“Then we need to prepare immediately,” Su Ting said decisively. “Lena, Lia, you stay here and protect these supplies. Kevin, Feng, come with me. We must guard the entrance.”
The three sprang into action. Kevin and Feng stood at the entrance to the basement, weapons in hand, ready for battle. Su Ting, on the other hand, set up some traps at the entrance, hoping to buy time for the enemy.
Not long after, chaotic footsteps and shouts came from outside the door. Su Ting took a deep breath, gripped his weapon tightly, and looked outside with a determined gaze.
"No matter what happens, we must hold on to the end," Su Ting said firmly, "for our survival."
"Yes!" Kevin and Feng answered simultaneously, their eyes filled with determination and resolve.
The battle was about to begin, and Su Ting knew that at this moment, they had to unite and face the impending challenge together.
The hurried footsteps outside the door grew closer, and the hearts of Su Ting and the other two beat faster. A tense atmosphere filled the air, as if even time itself had become heavy.
"Are you ready?" Su Ting asked in a low voice, his eyes fixed on the movement outside the crack in the door.
“Ready,” Kevin and Feng answered simultaneously, their eyes showing no fear, only determination and resolve.
Suddenly, the doorknob was twisted forcefully, making a piercing sound. Su Ting quickly took a step back, gripping a sharp dagger tightly in his hand, ready to deal with any possible attack.
Chapter 901 The Sound of a Violent Impact
"There's someone inside!" A hoarse shout came from outside the door, followed by a violent banging sound.
"Hold on!" Su Ting whispered, subtly shifting his body to make the trap even more ingenious, hoping to delay the enemy's attack as much as possible.
"Charge in!" With this command, the enemies outside launched their first assault. The heavy door was smashed open, and the first enemy to break in was killed instantly by Su Ting's dagger before he could even react.
The pursuing enemies were clearly aware of the danger, but instead of stopping, they quickened their pace, attempting to capture the underground stronghold in one fell swoop. Su Ting, Kevin, and Feng formed a formidable defensive line at the narrow entrance, their teamwork impeccable, neutralizing every attack.
Just then, a series of hurried footsteps came from deep within the basement, and Lena and Lia rushed out with weapons in hand, joining the battle.
"Leave this to us, you guys hold the other places!" Su Ting decisively ordered, and he and Lena quickly switched positions to ensure that everyone could play their best role.
As the battle progressed, Su Ting gradually noticed that although the enemy was well-equipped, their tactics seemed somewhat chaotic, clearly indicating they were searching for something. This discovery gave Su Ting a new plan.
"We have to take advantage of this!" Su Ting shouted, quickly explaining his idea to his teammates during a lull in the fighting. "Create as much chaos as possible, make the enemy lose their composure!"
"Great idea!" Kevin nodded excitedly, a sly glint in his eyes. He quickly picked up stones and debris from the ground and threw them behind the enemy when they weren't looking, creating more chaos.
As expected, the enemy fell into chaos in the face of the smoke bombs and illusions created by Su Ting and others, and their command clearly began to slip out of control.
Just then, another burst of hurried footsteps came from outside, as if more people were on their way. Su Ting frowned slightly, knowing that the battle had entered a fierce stage.
"We have to retreat!" Su Ting ordered decisively. "Lena, Lia, take the supplies and evacuate through the secret passage!"
"Understood!" Lena nodded, and she immediately led Lia and some important supplies towards the secret passage.
"Su Ting, you need to hurry too!" Lena called out as she turned around.
“Don’t worry, I’ll cover the rear.” Su Ting answered firmly, looking at Kevin and Feng again. “We must hold this passage until the very end.”
“Understood!” Kevin and Feng answered without hesitation.
Su Ting took a deep breath and turned to face the even fiercer attack that was about to begin. He knew that this battle was not only about survival, but also about the future of his team.
