Just as they were about to enter a small cave, a group of heavily armed enemies appeared in front of them.
"You are surrounded, surrender!" an enemy officer shouted.
“We will never surrender!” Kevin retorted angrily.
"Move!" the enemy officer ordered.
A fierce battle immediately erupted between the two sides. Kevin and his teammates fought back with all their might, but they were clearly at a disadvantage.
"Why haven't the captain and the others arrived yet?" Xiao Shi asked anxiously.
"Hold on, they'll be here soon!" Kevin shouted encouragingly.
Suddenly, the sound of horses' hooves came from outside the cave, and Su Ting and his troops rode into the battlefield at full speed.
"Quickly, support them!" Su Ting shouted, charging forward with his sword.
Seeing the reinforcements arrive, the team members' morale soared, and the battle instantly intensified.
"Captain, that's great!" Xiao Shi shouted excitedly.
"Let's work together and defeat them!" Su Ting encouraged.
After a fierce battle, the enemy was finally defeated and forced to retreat. Su Ting and Kevin's team ultimately triumphed over the enemy and escaped safely.
"This was really dangerous." Kevin wiped the sweat from his forehead.
"Thanks to your timely support," Su Ting said gratefully.
"Captain, what do we do next?" Xiao Shi asked.
“We must move on; we can’t waste any more time,” Su Ting said firmly.
"Yes, Captain!" everyone responded in unison.
“But we can’t stay here any longer; enemy reinforcements may arrive soon,” Su Ting said with a determined look as he surveyed his surroundings.
“The captain is right, we need to get out of here quickly.” Rena nodded and quickly organized her equipment. “Everyone, check your weapons and supplies to make sure nothing is left behind.”
Chapter 884 The Enemy's Main Defense Line
The team members sprang into action, checking backpacks, ammunition, and other necessary supplies. Jeff and Custer were responsible for clearing the battlefield, ensuring no trace was left behind.
"Kevin, which direction do you think we should go?" Su Ting turned to Kevin and asked.
Kevin carefully studied the map in his hand, and after a moment of contemplation, he said, "We are currently northeast of the cave. If we continue north, we can avoid the enemy's main defensive line. However, the terrain along this route is complex and may be very dangerous."
"What about going south?" Su Ting asked.
“Going south would allow us to bypass some enemy strongholds, but it would be a longer journey and we might encounter more patrols,” Kevin added.
"Head north, try to avoid the enemy. Time is of the essence, we cannot take any risks," Su Ting decisively ordered.
"Understood!" the team members answered in unison, quickly lining up to prepare for departure.
Led by Su Ting, the group traveled along a path to the north. The night grew darker, the surrounding trees became denser, and occasionally the calls of animals echoed through the woods.
"Captain, look, there's some light over there," Jeff, who was walking ahead, suddenly whispered, pointing to a grove of trees not far ahead.
Everyone became alert and quietly approached to investigate. Sure enough, through the gaps in the trees, they could see several torches flickering in the distance.
“Another patrol,” Su Ting said, frowning. “We have to be careful to avoid them.”
“Captain, how about we split into two groups? One group can draw their attention while the other goes around them?” Castor suggested.
“That’s a good idea,” Suting nodded in agreement. “Rena, you and Caster will draw their attention, and the rest of you will follow me around.”
“Understood, we will return to join you as soon as possible,” Rena said firmly.
"Be careful, don't get hurt," Su Ting instructed.
"Don't worry, Captain," Rena replied with a smile.
Rena and Caster quickly left the group and moved towards the enemy. The two moved swiftly and soon disappeared into the night.
"We need to hurry, we can't keep them waiting," Su Ting said in a low voice.
The remaining team members carefully bypassed the enemy and traversed the dense forest. The forest was exceptionally quiet at night, broken only by the faint sounds of footsteps and breathing.
Suddenly, the sound of rapid hoofbeats approached, and everyone immediately stopped and looked around warily.
"It's the sound of horses," Xiao Shi whispered.
"Everyone hide, they might be enemy cavalry," Su Ting ordered in a low voice.
The team members quickly found concealed places to hide, gripping their weapons tightly. Soon, a group of cavalry appeared in their sight, riding tall warhorses, holding long spears, and vigilantly surveying their surroundings.
"Captain, they went in that direction," Leon reported in a low voice.
"Wait until they're far away before continuing," Su Ting gestured for everyone to remain silent.
After a few minutes, the cavalry finally disappeared from sight. Su Ting breathed a sigh of relief and led his men back on their way.
Just as they were about to round the last corner, the sounds of fighting suddenly came from ahead. Su Ting's heart tightened, and he quickened his pace.
"Rena, how are you?" Su Ting rushed forward and saw Rena and Castor fighting with several enemies.
"Captain, there are too many enemies! Come help!" Rena shouted.
Chapter 885 Enemies Keep Coming In
"Go! Take them down!" Su Ting charged forward with his sword, and the other team members quickly joined the battle.
The battle was extremely fierce, with enemies constantly surging in. But under Su Ting's leadership, the team members were fearless and repelled the enemies one by one.
"Rena, are you alright?" Su Ting asked with concern, noticing the wounds on Rena's arm.
"It's just a minor injury, nothing serious," Rena said through gritted teeth.
"We need to get out of here quickly; we can't delay any longer," Su Ting commanded.
"Okay, Captain." The team members quickly organized their equipment and prepared to continue their journey.
"Wait, there seems to be some movement over there." Xiao Shi suddenly pointed to a grove of trees ahead.
"Another enemy?" Su Ting asked, frowning.
Just then, a familiar voice came from the woods: "Su Ting, are you alright?"
"Kevin, what are you doing here?" Su Ting asked in surprise.
“I was worried about you, so I came here to help,” Kevin explained. “The enemy has retreated, and we can pass through here safely.”
"Great, let's move on then." Su Ting breathed a sigh of relief.
“But we have to be careful, there might be an ambush here,” Kevin warned.
“No problem, everyone stay alert,” Su Ting nodded.
The group embarked on their journey once more, continuing their trek through the dangerous forest.
"Captain, look, there's a stream over there." Xiao Shi pointed to a body of water in front of them.
"Rest for a while, have some water, we still have to move forward," Su Ting instructed.
The team members sat down and began to replenish their fluids. Su Ting and Kevin, meanwhile, whispered among themselves about their next route.
“Kevin, do you think this stream leads to a safe area to the south?” Su Ting asked.
“It’s possible, but we need to confirm it further,” Kevin said thoughtfully.
Just then, a familiar figure emerged from the woods: "Hi, Su Ting, Kevin, I didn't expect to see you here."
"Lena, what are you doing here?" Su Ting asked in surprise.
“I heard about your situation and came here specifically to help,” Lena said with a smile. “With my help, we will definitely be able to find a safe route much faster.”
"Lena, that's wonderful!" Su Ting said happily.
“However, we still have a lot to do,” Lena said seriously. “There are many unknown dangers along the way.”
“We are prepared to face any challenge,” Su Ting said firmly.
“Then let’s move on,” Lena suggested.
"Alright, let's go!" Su Ting gave the order.
The group embarked on their journey once again, heading towards the unknown future.
Su Ting led his team along the path beside the stream. As night deepened, the surrounding woods grew increasingly quiet, broken only by the babbling of the stream and the occasional chirping of insects.
"Captain, the terrain here seems to be getting more and more complicated," Jeff said in a low voice, holding a map and frowning.
“That’s true,” Su Ting nodded. “We need to be extra careful.”
Suddenly, a slight noise came from ahead, and everyone immediately became alert. Su Ting gestured for everyone to stop and listen carefully.
"Who's there?" Su Ting asked in a low voice, a hint of tension in his tone.
After a while, an old man wearing a tattered robe slowly emerged from the woods, leaning on a cane and looking somewhat tired.
"You are travelers, aren't you?" the old man asked, his voice deep and powerful.
