Just then, a strange noise suddenly came from outside...
"That sound just now came from outside, didn't it?" Su Ting asked in a low voice.
Robert shook his head: "I don't know, but we need to be on high alert."
“Yes, everyone stay vigilant,” Adrian said in a deep voice. “Suting, you and Lucia check the situation outside. Robert, you stay here with us and protect the little boy.”
Su Ting nodded, drew the knife from his waist, and said in a low voice, "Let's go, Lucia, let's be careful."
The two tiptoed to the door. Su Ting gently pushed it open, and Lucia followed closely behind. They cautiously peeked out, carefully observing their surroundings. Under the moonlight, the courtyard was silent, except for the rustling of leaves in the wind.
Su Ting turned back and gestured to the people inside the house, indicating that everything was safe. However, just as he was about to close the door, a dark figure suddenly darted out from the corner of the wall, wielding a dagger and lunging at Lucia.
Lucia reacted quickly, dodging the attack with a sidestep, and then kicked the attacker in the stomach, knocking him to the ground. The man struggled for a few moments on the ground before being knocked unconscious by Su Ting with the back of his knife.
"Enemy attack!" Su Ting shouted, turned around and slammed the door shut, then blocked it with a chair.
The people inside immediately tensed up. Thomas, holding the little boy, hid in a corner, trying to calm him down and keep him quiet. Adrian, holding a long staff, stood guard at the door, the black staff surrounded by silver light.
Robert walked over to Su Ting and frowned, saying, "This is clearly not a coincidence. Someone already knows your location."
Su Ting nodded: "That's right. This guy was definitely sent to test us or assassinate us."
Just then, another strange noise came from outside the window, as if something had hit the windowpane. Everyone's nerves tightened even more immediately.
"There are enemies on the other side of the window!" Lucia shouted and immediately ran to the window to check the situation.
At the same time, faint footsteps and the clanging of metal could be heard outside the door, indicating that more enemies were approaching.
“We have to find a way to get rid of these enemies,” Adrian said calmly, gripping his staff tightly. “But before that, we need to find out who sent the attack on us.”
“I think we should find a safe escape route first,” Thomas suggested. “If possible, get the children out of here as soon as possible.”
“Yes, we can’t let the children continue to take risks here,” Lucia agreed. “Suting, Robert, you two are in charge of finding any hidden exits or passages. Adrian and I will hold off their attacks for now.”
The group sprang into action according to plan. Suting and Robert began searching for any possible hidden passages, while Adrian and Lucia took up advantageous positions for defense. The little boy remained trembling in Thomas's arms, his eyes filled with terror.

Chapter 577 The Light Can Be Seen
Just then, the door was slammed shut several times, followed by a cacophony of voices and footsteps outside.
"Listen up, you inside! Surrender and give up! Otherwise, we'll break down the door!" A cold yet authoritative voice came from outside the door.
Adrian gave a cold laugh: "They're really confident... Looks like we'll have to teach them a lesson!"
“Okay,” Robert said in a low voice, “I just discovered a basement at the back of this house, which should be a tunnel we can use to escape. But we need to move quickly and get out of here before the enemies surround the whole area.”
"There's no time to lose, let's set off now!" Adrian decisively ordered. "Everyone follow Robert, I'll stay behind to buy some time."
The words had barely left his mouth when the banging on the door intensified, threatening to breach it. Just as everyone was preparing to proceed according to plan, the little boy suddenly tugged at Thomas's clothes, his voice trembling, and said, "Uncle... I'm really scared... Can we get out of here safely?"
Thomas crouched down and looked at him gently. "Don't worry, little guy. As long as you listen to us, you'll be fine. Look, so many warriors are willing to fight for you. Let's go find a safe place now, and everything will be alright soon."
"That's good..." The little boy nodded, a relieved smile on his face.
At that moment, even louder noises and sounds of destruction came from outside; clearly, the enemy was trying to break through this last line of defense...
“We don’t have much time left.” Adrian turned to Robert. “You lead them through the tunnels and make sure they are safe. Leave the rest to me.”
Robert nodded: "Take care, old friend."
Thomas carried the little boy and walked in front, the others following closely behind, quietly making their way towards the basement. A tense, oppressive atmosphere hung in the air; everyone prayed they would escape the danger zone safely. Just as they were about to reach the entrance to the basement, they suddenly heard voices approaching from a distance:
"Strange, why did I clearly see a figure flash by here just now... Did we lose track of our target? Or did they sense it beforehand and set a trap for us?"
"No matter what, we must search thoroughly. Split up and don't overlook any suspicious areas!"
Su Ting suddenly stopped in his tracks: "This is bad, the enemy seems to have noticed something is wrong."
"Hurry up, get in quickly!" Lucia urged, while warily scanning their surroundings to prevent any unexpected situations. The group quickly slipped through the tunnel entrance and disappeared underground, leaving only the fading sound of their footsteps and the increasingly blurry light overhead.
Finally, everyone safely entered the depths of the tunnel. Although it was pitch black, no one dared to light any source for fear of revealing their location. So they could only grope their way forward, relying on each other for support in the darkness…
"Uncle...it's so dark in here...when will we be able to get out?" the little boy asked Thomas in a low voice.
Thomas hugged him tightly and comforted him, saying, "Don't worry, baby, you'll see the light soon. Be brave, hang in there a little longer."

Chapter 578 Speed Up!
As these words were spoken, a faint yet warm ray of light appeared ahead of the tunnel, bringing hope to all those in distress. But just as dawn was about to break, unexpected voices suddenly rang out from ahead:
"Huh? Who's talking over there? Could it be...?"
“Have we encountered other survivors? We need to confirm their identities first, no matter what,” another stranger added.
The light gradually intensified deep within the tunnel, bringing a sigh of relief to everyone. They slowed their pace, cautiously approaching the source of the light. Suddenly, a voice came from ahead: "Who's there?"
Thomas immediately stopped and whispered to the crowd, "Stay calm and don't make any rash moves." Then he shouted back, "We are the ones being hunted, please don't attack us."
"Oh, I see." The voice sounded somewhat surprised. "We're in the same boat, being hunted by the same people. You can put down your weapons and come over slowly."
Adrian and Suttin exchanged a glance, signaling everyone to remain vigilant. Adrian slowly stepped forward, while Lucia and Robert stood guard on either side. The little boy still clung tightly to Thomas's arm, his face filled with fear.
When they finally reached the light, they found two men standing before them, holding torches and looking travel-worn. The man on the left was tall and had a serious face; the man on the right appeared somewhat thin, but his eyes were unusually determined.
“I’m Adrian, and these are my friends Sutin, Lucia, and Robert. We’re escorting a little boy to safety,” Adrian introduced. “And you are?”
“My name is Jack, and this is my partner, Tom. We are also civilians being hunted by those thugs,” Jack replied. “We’re waiting here for rescue, but it seems like no one is coming to save us.”
“Then we can work together,” Adrian suggested. “We have more manpower, so perhaps we can find a better way out.”
“Good idea.” Tom nodded in agreement. “However, we just discovered that this tunnel is not a dead end, but leads to another dense forest. We can go there to take shelter for a while.”
“There’s no time to lose, let’s set off now.” Adrian decisively ordered, “Sutine, you and Lucia lead the way and make sure it’s safe; Robert and Thomas take good care of the little boy.”
The group sprang into action. Suting and Lucia, armed with knives, led the way, cautiously scouting the path. Thomas and Robert followed closely behind, protecting the little boy. Adrian, Jack, and Tom took charge of the group from the center.
The tunnel grew wider and brighter. Soon, they came to a fork in the road. Su Ting stopped and carefully observed his surroundings: "The terrain here is a bit complicated; we must choose our route carefully."
“We’ve already scouted this out; let’s take the left path,” Jack suggested. “There’s a trail there that leads directly into the dense forest.”
“Alright, let’s go in this direction,” Adrian agreed. “Everyone stay close and don’t fall behind.”
The group followed the direction Jack had indicated. Suddenly, a series of hurried footsteps came from behind, accompanied by indistinct shouts. Adrian whirled around, frowning. "The enemy is catching up! Speed up!"

Everyone quickened their pace, trying to remain silent to avoid alerting more enemies. Just as they were about to reach the tunnel exit, they suddenly heard an angry voice behind them: "Hey you guys in front, stop right there!"
"Ignore them, run!" Su Ting shouted.
They ran with all their might and finally broke out of the tunnel. Before them lay a dense forest, sunlight filtering through the leaves and casting dappled shadows. They dared not linger; they immediately plunged into the woods, using the trees and bushes for cover.
“We’re safe for now,” Jack said, panting. “We shouldn’t be easily discovered here.”
"Don't let your guard down yet," Adrian cautioned. "We need to find a more secluded place to rest."
Su Ting looked around and spotted a dense thicket of bushes not far away: "That looks good; we can hide in there."
“Alright, whatever you say.” Adrian nodded. “Everyone, go over there and get ready to rest.”
The group entered the bushes one by one, trying to remain quiet. Thomas gently placed the little boy on the soft grass and whispered to him, "It's alright, son. We're safe for now."
The little boy managed a weak smile, but fear remained in his eyes. Adrian stepped forward and gently patted the boy's shoulder: "Don't be afraid, we'll protect you."
"Thank you, uncles," the little boy said softly.
A gentle breeze blew by, bringing a touch of coolness. Jack and Tom sat down beside them and began discussing their next plan.
“We can’t stay here any longer,” Jack said. “The enemy will find us soon.”
“Indeed,” Adrian agreed. “We need to find a safer place as soon as possible.”
“I know a place,” Tom suddenly said. “There’s an abandoned hut not far from here where you can take refuge for a while.”
“Then let’s go there,” Adrian decided. “Everyone, pack your things and let’s go right away.”
The group quickly packed their belongings, ready to embark on their journey once more. The little boy nestled in Thomas's arms, a glimmer of hope in his eyes.
Just as they were about to leave, they suddenly heard a whisper coming from outside the bushes:
"Hurry, they should be around here..."
"Be careful, don't let them find us."
“Someone is approaching!” Su Ting warned in a low voice.
Everyone held their breath, gripped their weapons tightly, and prepared to face the impending danger.
Adrian reacted quickly, lowering his voice to the crowd: "Keep quiet, don't make a sound. Let's wait and see."
Thomas hugged the little boy tightly and whispered to comfort him, "Little one, don't be afraid, uncles will protect you." The little boy nodded, but his hands were still tightly gripping Thomas's arms.
Lucia shifted her feet slightly to get a better look at the outside. She gestured for Robert to come over, and the two of them crouched at the edge of the bushes, ready to respond to any unexpected situations.
Jack and Tom exchanged a glance; they were experienced and clearly prepared for battle. Jack slowly drew a dagger from his waist and whispered to Adrian, "If they come in, we have to strike first."
