“It has indeed declined.” Suddenly, someone interjected. Shen Ye looked up and saw that it was the restaurant owner, who had come to deliver food to Franco.
Upon hearing this, Shen Ye took out another stack of banknotes, "Tell me everything you know."
"How could I possibly accept that? Respected guest, you have already given me more than enough."
Despite saying that, the restaurant owner was quick to grab the stack of banknotes, the ample amount of which made him beam with joy.
"The Labras family lives near the border between Colombia and West B, in a rainforest-covered area. However, I've heard that the current patriarch of the Labras family is getting old and doesn't have the energy to manage the family's territory, so many people want to take over his land," the restaurant owner said.
"That sounds terrible." Shen Ye nodded. "Do you know the exact location of the Rabres family?"
"It seemed to be near a small town called Seine," the restaurant owner recalled.
“But I’ve never been there. You should know that it’s very close to the Amazon River basin, and nobody usually goes there unless they’re crazy.”
“Cena?” Upon hearing this place name, Shen Ye thought of Operation Havel in Resident Evil: Dark Chronicles, where special forces soldiers Krauser and Leon met up.
(Virtual, not actually existing)
What a coincidence!
"Thank you very much." Shen Ye smiled slightly and said, then he turned to Franco, who was eating, "Could you ask your friend to take me there? Price is not a problem, I can give you more."
Franco was taken aback by what he heard. He looked up at Shen Ye and was about to speak when he heard the restaurant owner say, "Hey, what kind of people could this poor kid know? Well then, sir, I know a few guides who have been to the deepest parts of the rainforest. As long as you give them enough money, they can take you anywhere."
Shen Ye glanced at the restaurant owner. He could see an indescribable meaning in the other man's eyes, but it was definitely not a friendly look.
"Are you sure the guide you know can take me there?" Shen Ye thought for a moment and asked.
“Of course, as long as you pay enough, they are definitely worth the money. After all, not everything can venture into uninhabited areas,” the restaurant owner said, rubbing his thumb and forefinger together.
“Alright then, when can your friends set off?” Shen Ye asked.
“Anytime is fine.” The restaurant owner gave a knowing smile, then returned to the counter and picked up the phone.
Looking at the restaurant owner who was on the phone, Franco hesitated, but as a local, he couldn't bring himself to say it.
"Say what you want to say, don't be afraid," Shen Ye said, taking a sip of water.
“Sir, the rainforest is a no-man’s land. It’s basically unmanaged. If you want to go, you’d better find a few trustworthy people,” Franco said in a low voice.
"Moreover, many people go to the rainforest every year, but few come back. I heard that they didn't die in the harsh environment of the rainforest, but were killed by the tour guides."
"So, those so-called tour guides are very familiar with that place?" This was the only thing Shen Ye was interested in.
“Yes.” Franco nodded. “If they hadn’t gone into the rainforest, many people would have come back immediately.”
"Then there's nothing to worry about, as long as you can get me there," Shen Ye said with a smile.
"But..." Franco wanted to say something more, but the restaurant owner had already come over.
"Sir, those guides will be available this afternoon," the restaurant owner said.
"Let's set off this afternoon then," Shen Ye said. "I'm in a hurry."
“Okay,” the restaurant owner said with a smile.

Chapter 110! Coincidence
(The previous chapter has been revised)
……
That afternoon.
Shen Ye checked out of the hotel and went to the restaurant.
The guide, introduced by the restaurant owner, was already waiting for him there, but there was only one of them, a burly white man who looked to be close to fifty.
"I'm sorry, everyone else is suddenly unavailable," the restaurant owner said somewhat apologetically.
Shen Ye shook his head to indicate that he was fine, and then looked at someone who surprised him. The boy named Franco was also there.
"Sir, I hope you won't need it." Franco didn't know Shen Ye's name. He ran over, quietly stuffed something wrapped in newspaper into Shen Ye's hand, and then ran away without looking back.
He squeezed the contents of the newspaper, and the familiar feel told him that it contained a pistol.
“This kid.” Shen Ye shook his head, then tore the newspaper open in front of the guide and took out the pistol.
Upon seeing the pistol, the guide immediately looked uneasy and then gave the restaurant owner a wink.
The restaurant owner was also somewhat surprised. He cautiously asked Shen Ye, "What's this?"
"It's nothing, that kid was just worried about me." Shen Ye skillfully inspected the pistol and found it to be a rather old-fashioned M1911. The rusty body and the almost rifling barrel indicated that it was completely unreliable, so he casually tossed it onto the table. He didn't even think much of this thing.
Seeing Shen Ye throw the gun aside, the guide breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Sir, we have everything ready and we can set off at any time."
As he spoke, he pointed to an SUV parked outside, "How about we take this?"
"I'm fine with anything." Shen Ye waved his hand dismissively.
"In that case, let's set off," the guide said, walking towards the off-road vehicle.
The journey from the port of Barranquilla to the Amazon rainforest is quite long.
Even by car, it took about three days to reach the Colombian border.
"Sir, once we pass through that jungle, we'll arrive at our destination, Seine Town," the guide said, turning to Shen Ye who was resting with his eyes closed.
Shen Ye opened his eyes and looked at the increasingly dense trees around him as the off-road vehicle went deeper into the area. He nodded and then closed his eyes again.
Seeing his expression, the guide smiled. It was the first time he had encountered such a carefree tourist. After all, most people either become very excited or very nervous when entering the rainforest. It was rare to see someone as relaxed as him.
However, for some unknown reason, this usually deserted path suddenly became lively. Every short distance the off-road vehicle traveled, it encountered many nearby villagers, and even a large group of civilians and what appeared to be soldiers got into a dispute, blocking the road.
With no other option, the guide had to choose another less crowded path.
On this narrow road, the SUV was stopped by a person.
"What's wrong?" Shen Ye opened his eyes when he noticed the SUV had stopped.
The guide said, "Sir, someone is stopping the car."
Shen Ye looked up and frowned.
He actually knew the person who stopped the car.
It was Leon, his former comrade-in-arms in Raccoon City.
"What a damn coincidence," Shen Ye thought to himself.
At this moment, Leon knocked on the car window, signaling the person inside to open it. He did not notice Shen Ye sitting in the back seat.
The guide first turned to look at Shen Ye, wanting to ask for his opinion.
"Open it," Shen Ye said.
The guide then opened the car window.
"I'm sorry, my vehicle has run into some trouble. Could I hitch a ride?" Leon asked politely.
“Of course, Lyon,” Shen Ye said before the guide could speak.
Hearing someone call his name, and the voice sounded somewhat familiar, Leon paused for a moment, peeked into the back seat, and then exclaimed in surprise, "Oh my god, it's you, Shen!"
……
“I’m really lucky to run into you here.” After getting into the car, Leon started chattering away. “I remember you were in that place called Roanapura, right? I didn’t expect to see you here. What are you doing here? Going on vacation again?”
"More or less," Shen Ye said. He knew that Leon had later joined the CIA and where he had been before, so he wasn't surprised.
Then he looked at Lyon and asked, feigning ignorance, "And you?"
“What else can I do but work like a slave?” Leon glanced at the guide driving the car, sighed, and then lowered his voice to say, “After leaving Raccoon City, I joined the CIA and then received an investigation mission to come to South America to investigate a gang leader named Javier.”
He didn't mention that his plane had been shot down because he knew that Shen Ye had always been very concerned about it.
“Then your salary must be very high now.” Shen Ye said with a smile. He remembered that back in Raccoon City, Leon had worried about his salary more than once.
“That is indeed much higher than when I was a policeman, although I have never received a single penny of salary from the police station,” Lyon said indignantly.
"So where are you planning to go now?" Shen Ye continued, feigning ignorance.
“Go to a small town called Seine and meet up with my companions,” Leon said.
Because he was seconded to the Anti-Biohazard Investigation Bureau, and Shen Ye was a fellow survivor of the Raccoon City incident, he spoke directly.
“That’s quite a coincidence,” Shen Ye said. “That’s also my destination now.”
“It seems we are quite destined to meet.” Lyon’s face was full of smiles. “Last time we left in such a hurry that we didn’t have a chance to treat you to a meal. This time, after we arrive at our destination, I must treat you to a good drink.”
"Don't refuse, my salary is very high right now," Lyon emphasized again.
"I'd be more than happy to." Shen Ye nodded.
As they spoke, the off-road vehicle finally drove out of the jungle, and then a large area of buildings with European characteristics came into view.
The town of Seine. (Fictional)
The city still retains buildings left by its former colonial power, Spain, and its retro style made Shen Ye feel as if he had come to Europe.
