Infinite: Starting from Resident Evil

"So... are you alone?" Jill looked at Ada. "Or are you with her?"

To her, Shen Ye and Aida were both Chinese, from the same country, and would definitely return to China together.

Shen Ye shook his head: "I'm alone."

“And what about her?” Jill asked.

"Ask him yourself," Shen Ye said, passing the question to Ada.

Jill looked at Ida.

Ada paused for a moment, then said, "I'll have to wait a while longer."

She's a Chinese American, and she might never have been to China more than a few times in her life, but since Jill asked that question, she naturally went along with it.

“Okay.” Jill believed her, then asked Shen Ye somewhat reluctantly, “Can’t you stay a few more days? You can rest before going back.”

Shen Ye continued to shake his head: "I would like to, but I don't want to deal with your country's government. Believe me, as soon as we go out, they will come knocking on our door. It's too troublesome."

“That’s true.” Jill nodded; she knew very well what kind of people their country’s government was.

"When are you leaving?" Jill asked again. "We can give you a ride; it would be much more convenient with a helicopter."

"No need, I can manage on my own." Shen Ye hadn't forgotten the main mission, which clearly stated that if he could leave Raccoon City alive before the nuclear bomb annihilated it, he could return to the real world. He didn't want to suddenly disappear when the helicopter left the Raccoon City area, otherwise he wouldn't be able to explain himself when he came back to this world later.

“Okay.” Jill sighed, feeling disappointed.

But somehow, the next second, her eyes hardened, and she suddenly hugged Shen Ye.

Shen Ye did not push her away, letting her hug him.

"Should I excuse myself?" Ada asked with a soft hum after watching for a while.

“No need.” Jill released Shen Ye, smiled at Ada, and then turned and walked towards the helicopter.

"Isn't he coming with you?" Claire, still holding Sherry, waved to Shen Ye and Ida by the helicopter before asking Jill.

Claire looked at her questioningly and asked, "I thought you two were a couple."

Jill paused, and said with a forlorn expression, "I used to think so too."

"And now?" Claire continued.

“She has a rival now,” Lyon answered for Gilles.

Claire, the little girl who had been too well protected by her brother, made a sudden realization: "I get it, he's two-timing me."

"..." Leon helplessly covered his eyes.

"Alright, it's our turn to say goodbye." Shen Ye said to Ada as the helicopter slowly took off.

"So...we should hug too?" Ada asked tentatively.

"This……"

Shen Ye scratched his head in a dilemma, wondering if doing this was a bit too scummy, since Jill hadn't gone far yet!

“Okay, it seems you’re not satisfied with just a hug.” Ada misunderstood. After taking a deep breath, she hugged Shen Ye and gave him a light peck on the lips.

Then, she slowly released her arms and quickly retreated into the jungle.

"Shen, I will go to Country Z to find you."

Ida's voice came as she was about to disappear into the jungle.

"Then you'll have plenty to look for," Shen Ye murmured, and began heading out of Raccoon City.

Not long after he left the jurisdiction of Raccoon City, a white light flashed, and he disappeared from the spot, with a series of system notification sounds in his ears.

A familiar room, a familiar computer, a familiar night, and... a familiar bed.

"Finally home!"

Although Shen Ye was lying comfortably in bed, he couldn't calm down for a long time. Those few months living in the Resident Evil world seemed... like a dream.

“Jill…Ada…Leon…Claire…and…Chris…”

Muttering these names, Shen Ye, in a daze, raised his hand and grasped at the air. A pistol appeared out of thin air in his hand. It was the samurai blade that Jill had given him, which he had brought back from the bio-world.

"It really wasn't a dream." The heavy gun brought Shen Ye back to his senses. He twisted his wrist, put the pistol back into the system space, and then got up and sat down in front of the computer.

The computer screen still showed the game screen from before he traveled through time: a remastered version of Resident Evil 4.

And the character is Ada, who is the one he parted ways with at the end.

This gave him a strange feeling.

"I'm a little confused about which world is reality."

He quickly exited the game and glanced at the time, only to find that only a dozen minutes had passed in real time, and that was after he had rested for a while; it was probably even shorter in reality.

"It seems that time was frozen after I traveled back in time," Shen Ye exclaimed. "As expected of a system, it's really powerful."

The system's voice suddenly rang in his ears, its tone very cheerful, but Shen Ye could tell that it was devoid of any emotion, as if a robot was imitating human speech.

This made him frown. The system's tone was unpleasant to listen to; he'd rather hear a emotionless, synthesized electronic voice!

Slightly roused himself, Shen Ye began to organize his thoughts; he still had many questions for the system.

“You’ve come at the perfect time. I have a few questions for you,” he said.

"Host, please feel free to ask any questions that do not involve certain important information or rules," the system replied.

"Alright then." Shen Ye nodded.

"The first question is, who exactly are you?"

"This question was already answered before the host entered the first world. I am a system."

"Okay, so the second question is, why did you choose me?"

"In order to fulfill the host's wish."

"It's that simple?"

"Yes."

“Uh…” Shen Ye scratched his head and then asked the third question.

Who created you?

"This involves important information and we are unable to answer at this time."

"Okay." Shen Ye scratched his forehead and continued, "Will you hurt me? Or rather, control me?"

"Please rest assured, host. This system cannot harm or control you through any means or rules. On the contrary, the existence of this system is to help you." The system's reply came quickly, as if it had been pre-programmed or anticipated.

Hearing this answer, Shen Ye was still somewhat doubtful, but he also breathed a slight sigh of relief. After a moment of silence, he asked, "How long will it take me to enter the next world?"

"Fifteen standard Earth days".

"Fifteen days?" Shen Ye pondered.
