"Thank you so much. If you get into trouble next time, I'll save you too." Leon patted Shen Ye on the shoulder, looking like he needed to call on him.

"Forget it, I don't want it to happen again." Shen Yeren's lips twitched. Leon's words sounded like Death himself was trying to sell him insurance.

Seeing Shen Ye's horrified expression, Leon was puzzled, but now was not the time to dwell on that. He glanced at the zombie that was already very close and asked, "Shen, do you know how to get to the police station?"

Shen Ye nodded: "Of course."

He pointed in a direction and said, "Just keep walking down this street, and if you're lucky, you'll get there in an hour."

“What if you’re unlucky?” Claire asked.

Shen Ye looked at her meaningfully: "If we're unlucky, it might take four or five hours. Raccoon City is too chaotic; zombies aren't the only threat."

"Could there be other, even more terrifying monsters?" Leon interjected.

"Not just monsters, but also humans."

Shen Ye paused as he spoke, then drew his pistol and shot the approaching zombies in the head one by one. He continued, "There are several factions in Raccoon City right now. Unfortunately, I've dealt with all of them. If you're with me, your chances of getting into danger are very high."

“That sounds interesting.” Claire said nonchalantly, “But don’t worry, we’ll take care of those problems for you, won’t you, Leon?”

“Of course.” Lyon nodded. “After all, he’s our savior.”

"Alright, let's go." Shen Ye took the lead and said as he walked, "I really hope nothing else happens on the way."

……

But in reality, people shouldn't make rash promises.

The three hadn't gone far when another unexpected event occurred.

As soon as they stepped into the upper town, they were attacked by a horde of zombies. Although they managed to break through, they were then attacked by a pack of hellhounds.

Dozens of hellhounds chased the three of them around until they got separated at a three-way intersection.

……

In an alley, Shen Ye sat lazily on a trash can, smoking a cigarette while counting the ammunition on his person.

"There are five bullets left in the magazine, one fully loaded magazine, one empty magazine, and no loose bullets... Wait, where did this empty rifle clip come from?"

Shen Ye casually tossed away the empty rifle clip, replaced the magazine in his pistol, jumped off the trash can, and, stepping through the accumulated rainwater, followed the alley to another street.

This street also leads to the Raccoon City Police Department, it just involves a slightly longer route.

As he hurried along the street, Shen Ye dodged the zombies he encountered whenever possible, and dealt with them in close combat if he couldn't avoid them.

He didn't have many bullets left and had to save them to deal with the more troublesome infected creatures.

After walking for about an hour, Shen Ye noticed a shop that looked familiar. As he got closer, a look of joy appeared on his face.

He actually ended up at Kendo Gun Shop.

Walking briskly towards the gun shop, Shen Ye retrieved the key from under the doormat, opened the door, and went inside.

Although Kendo took most of his valuables with him when he left, and also gave away a lot of guns and ammunition to the surrounding neighbors, Shen Ye planned to search carefully, hoping to find something unexpected.

After a careful search, Shen Ye found several boxes of opened 9mm pistol ammunition under the counter where the pistols used to be.

He counted them; the boxes of ammunition together contained about a hundred rounds, enough for him to use for a long time.

Unfortunately, he couldn't find any extra Beretta pistol magazines, and his mood soured again.

The zombies won't give him time to reload.

With a regretful sigh, Shen Ye took out an empty magazine and started loading it with bullets. Just as he was about to fill the half-empty magazine, a familiar roar suddenly rang out from outside the door.

“STARS”.

Shen Ye was stunned for a moment, thinking he was hallucinating. After all, Brad and Jill had already left Raccoon City, and logically, the Nemesis shouldn't be here.

Before he could figure it out, a large hole was suddenly smashed in the opposite wall, and the Tracker, who had fully entered its second form, appeared in front of him.

"Grass!"

Shen Ye cursed, stuffed the magazine into his pocket, and turned to run.

Chapter 37! Reunion, Ada Wong

After running out of Kendo's gun shop, Shen Ye glanced back and saw the tracker controlling a thick tentacle to stab him. He immediately jumped to the side and dodged it.

But to his surprise, the tentacle coiled back nimbly, so Shen Ye simply drew his military knife and slashed at it.

This military knife is an authentic product I bought from a gun shop in Kendo before. It's very sharp; it easily cuts off tentacles.

However, the tracker shot out another tentacle. This time, Shen Ye couldn't dodge it and his legs were entangled by the tentacle. With a strong pull from the tracker, Shen Ye involuntarily fell forward.

Fortunately, he reacted quickly. The moment he fell, he decisively threw away his military knife, then positioned himself with his arms bent in front of his chest and elbows pointing down to avoid his face hitting the concrete ground.

Although his body had been strengthened, it was still far from being as strong as a concrete surface, and he didn't want to be disfigured because of it.

"drink!"

After falling to the ground, Shen Ye used his arms to flip his body over, then drew his pistol and pulled the trigger at the tentacle.

With a few bangs, the tentacle was severed. Shen Ye tore off the still wriggling tentacle, quickly got up from the ground, and retreated while firing at the pursuers.

At this point, the 9mm pistol bullets no longer had any effect on the second-form tracker. However, with Shen Ye's shots hitting the head accurately with every shot, the tracker still suffered quite a bit.

At least it slowed down its pursuit.

After emptying the magazine in his pistol, Shen Ye had retreated more than ten meters, which was beyond the maximum attack range of the tracker's tentacles.

The tracker abandoned its tentacle attack, roared, and charged toward Shen Ye.

Shen Ye didn't want to get entangled with it, so he turned around and continued running away.

Kendo Gun Shop wasn't far from the Raccoon City Police Department, so Shen Ye didn't run too far before he saw the police department's iconic building.

Just as he was considering whether to enter the police station and use its complex layout to entangle with his pursuers, the walkie-talkie Ada had given him suddenly rang.

"Shen, I see you."

Ada's voice was still as aloof as ever, but Shen Ye detected a hint of surprise in it.

"Then you should know my current situation."

Shen Ye looked up and glanced around, but didn't see that familiar red figure; she was hiding in a very well-hidden spot.

"Of course, you look disheveled. Do you need any help?"

"What do you think?" Shen Ye asked in return.

“I think it’s fine this way. It’s quite amusing to see you running away in such a sorry state,” Ada chuckled.

"It's so heartbreaking, Ada. I never thought you were such a heartless woman," Shen Ye complained.

"That makes me sound like a wife who abandoned her husband." Ada, seemingly taken advantage of, wasn't angry and continued to speak with a smile.

“That’s exactly right.” Shen Ye accused loudly, “I was worried about your safety and went back to the police station to find you, and you actually said that.”

"Uh, really? That's my honor!" A strange light flashed in Ada's eyes. She glanced at the pursuer closely following Shen Ye and propped up an astonishingly large sniper rifle on the windowsill.

That was an M82A1, an anti-materiel sniper rifle, a nightmare for all light vehicles.

Of course, for carbon-based life forms, it's more than just a nightmare.

"Get down!" Ada leaned closer to the scope, took a quick look, and shouted into the walkie-talkie.

Upon hearing Ada's warning, Shen Ye decisively lunged forward and lay prone on the ground, then heard a loud gunshot.

Shen Ye instinctively turned around and saw that the pursuer had a large hole in its abdomen, and through the hole, he could see a burning car behind it.

The M82A1 truly lives up to its reputation as an anti-material sniper rifle; it directly inflicted a penetrating wound on the pursuer.

"Well done," Shen Ye praised.

Ada smiled slightly and fired another shot.

This shot was even more accurate, hitting the tracker's heart. The thumb-thick bullet blew its heart into a bloody pulp.

"Roar!"

The heavily wounded pursuer finally couldn't hold on any longer. After letting out a roar, it chose to flee once again, disappearing into the darkness in the blink of an eye.

Seeing the Nemesis escape, Ada secretly regretted it. If she could have killed the Nemesis here, she could have obtained a lot of samples.

However, there are more important things to do right now than tracking people.

Clutching an anti-materiel sniper rifle, Ada braced herself with one hand and jumped out of the window.

Have you thought about how to thank me?

Landing steadily on the ground, Ada walked up to Shen Ye, looked him up and down, and then asked with a smile.

Shen Ye was wiping the mud that had splattered on his face while he was lying on the ground when he heard Ada's words and paused for a moment: "What did you say?"

"I saved you, aren't you going to do anything to show your appreciation?"

Another offer? Why is he like Jill? Shen Ye didn't offer any offer at all, and simply said in a very straightforward manner, "How about I repay you with my body?"

Ada paused for a moment, her smile vanishing instantly. She then lowered her head in thought, seemingly considering the feasibility of Shen Ye's words or whether she should shoot him.

Seeing Ada's smile disappear, Shen Ye realized that his words might have been a bit frivolous.
