"We're safe now." Shen Ye sighed softly.

But he also understood that this was only temporary, and that the guy would be back soon, perhaps even stronger.

Therefore, they need to contact a rescue helicopter immediately to leave this place.

Perhaps it was good luck, or perhaps the firelight here was too dazzling, but just as Shen Ye was thinking this, the rescue helicopter actually appeared.

Moreover, it was a model that Jill and his team were most familiar with: the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter.

This Black Hawk helicopter is the Pave Hawk rescue variant, carrying some support weapons.

Upon seeing the helicopter, Jill and Brad waved their arms vigorously at it, quickly attracting the attention of the helicopter pilot.

The helicopter began to descend, slowly flying towards them.

Soon, the helicopter came to a steady stop in front of the three of them.

Two fully armed soldiers jumped out of the helicopter; they were there for a pre-boarding check.

Although all three had some injuries, most of them were scrapes and bruises, so after the two soldiers checked them, they waved their hands, indicating that they could go up.

Shen Ye didn't move. He still remembered what he had said to Ada earlier. Just as he was about to explain to Jill, he suddenly saw a look of fear on the helicopter pilot's face.

Shen Ye was startled and turned around abruptly, only to see that the pursuer had actually climbed up from the elevator shaft.

Because the mechanical equipment used to restrain the parasites on its body had been damaged, it entered its second form.

Although the Tracker's size did not change when it entered its second form, it had many more tentacles on its body, especially on its arms, where tentacles were wriggling.

"Holy crap, how is this possible?" Shen Ye didn't expect the Nemesis to enter its second form so quickly. He clearly remembered that in the original story, when the Nemesis was engulfed by the flames of the car explosion, even its trench coat wasn't burned.

But now is not the time to think about these things. The tracker has already raised its arm, and then a thick tentacle detaches from it. But its target is not Shen Ye and the others, but the helicopter.

Upon spotting the pursuers, the helicopter pilot initially intended to pull the helicopter up immediately, but hesitated to wait for the two soldiers to board.

That moment of hesitation brought an irreparable disaster to the helicopter, because it failed to maintain a sufficient safe distance in time.

The helicopter's bulletproof glass, capable of withstanding direct hits from small-caliber bullets, was as thin as paper in front of the tentacle. With a crisp sound, the pilot was pierced through the heart.

The pilot's death caused the helicopter to lose control, swaying in the air a few times before crashing to the ground.

However, the helicopter engine was still roaring, so when the helicopter crashed, the rotating rotors ejected countless fragments due to the impact with the ground.

Shen Ye and the other two covered their heads and ran frantically across the rooftop until they found a truck.

Only after the last piece of rotor blade shattered the roof of the truck where they were hiding did the rooftop fall completely silent.

Chapter 29! Second Form, The Battle of the Trackers

The three men peered out from behind the car and saw that the helicopter was already belching black smoke. However, as a rescue helicopter, the Pave Hawk was very safe and did not catch fire, so there might still be people alive inside.

But they also knew that even if there were survivors, they wouldn't have time to rescue them; the pursuer was still on the rooftop.

"What's the plan?" Jill asked Shen Ye in a low voice, looking at the pursuers who were walking slowly towards them.

“Yes,” Shen Ye said, his gaze fixed on the crashed helicopter, or rather, its support weapons. “If we can get those two M2s working, we might have a chance to take it down.”

As a rescue variant, the Pave Hawk doesn't have enough space to equip heavy weapons, so it can't perform ground fire support duties. Therefore, it only has two M2 door machine guns on board.

That's enough. Although the M2 is jokingly called "Old Godmother" (a popular chili sauce brand), that refers to its long service life. As a heavy machine gun, its 12.7 caliber is enough to tear apart the flesh of any carbon-based creature.

If they can get those two M2s running, no, even just one, and use it well, they can severely damage the tracker, or even take it out completely.

"So what are you planning to do?" Jill asked.

“It’s simple. You and Brad will draw its attention, and I’ll operate the machine gun at the hatch.” Shen Ye originally planned to have Brad do it alone, but after thinking about it, he felt the risk was too great, so it was better to have the two of them go together.

Jill nodded. Although the plan was indeed simple, it was still a plan. So she tossed Brad a rifle and rushed out with him, firing to attract the pursuers' attention as they ran towards the other side of the rooftop.

The trackers, whose target was them, immediately changed direction and strode after them.

Only after they had gone far away did Shen Ye emerge from the back of the car and sprint toward the helicopter.

The location where the helicopter crashed was not far from him, and Shen Ye quickly arrived near the helicopter.

He then immediately checked the condition of the machine gun in the hatch. After all, who knew what problems the machine gun might have after such a violent impact? If it exploded during firing, that would be a real disaster.

After a brief inspection, Shen Ye quickly determined that the door machine gun had not suffered any damage from the impact, making it much luckier than the helicopter.

Although the machine gun itself was undamaged, the ammunition box that supplied it with bullets was missing. This box was originally attached to the gun and was not secure, so it flew off after the impact, along with the ammunition belt inside.

There's only a small section of the ammunition belt still hanging at the feed port, with an estimated seven or eight rounds. I reckon it'll be empty after pulling the trigger.

These few bullets alone were not enough to pose a threat to the pursuers, so Shen Ye simply tore the section of the ammunition belt off the feed port, then crawled into the cabin, wondering if he could find a complete spare ammunition box.

In reality, it wasn't easy. The cabin was a complete mess, filled with blood and corpses. Due to the impact, some of the severed limbs of the bodies were mixed with the items inside, which not only made his search very difficult but also created a strong visual impact.

Taking a deep breath, Shen Ye steadied himself and began searching the cabin.

But just as he finally found an intact ammunition box, a hand suddenly grabbed his leg, and at the same time, a faint voice sounded:

"help me."

There really are living people here!

Following the hand, Shen Ye realized it belonged to one of the people who had come down from the helicopter to check them out.

"I'm sorry, although I want to save you, I really can't spare the time right now." Shen Ye shrugged at him, indicating that he was powerless to help.

However, he added, "Hang in there a little longer. Once I've dealt with that monster, I'll figure out a way to save you. Of course, I hope you can make it that far."

After saying that, Shen Ye broke free from his hand, picked up the ammunition box, left the cabin, and went to the machine gun at the door.

With practiced ease, Shen Ye hung the ammunition box on the machine gun, pulled the bolt back to chamber a bullet, and then controlled the machine gun to search for the pursuer. He was then dismayed to find that Jill and the others had lured the pursuer into a blind spot.

The hatch machine gun was fixed on a bracket, which greatly limited its firing angle; clearly, Jill and his men hadn't considered this issue.

But Shen Ye also knew that this was not their fault. As police officers in Raccoon City, they probably had little or no experience with helicopter air support.

"Looks like we'll have to take it apart," Shen Ye muttered to himself, and began disassembling the machine gun.

Carrying the dismantled machine gun, Shen Ye ran towards Jill while searching for a suitable firing position. Then, to his dismay, he discovered that even if he found a suitable position, he would not be able to fire accurately.

The M2 is a heavy machine gun, and the recoil when it fires is so great that it is difficult to control unless one can find a dedicated tripod.

But that's impossible. This thing is a door-mounted machine gun, and helicopters can't possibly carry a tripod specifically for it.

Of course, he could just find something to prop up his gun; there were cars parked all over the rooftop, so he wouldn't have to worry about finding something to hold onto.

But the consequence of doing so would be that he might kill Jill and Brad before dealing with the tracker.

After all, without a tripod, every bullet from this machine gun could potentially ricochet off course, making it impossible to control the trajectory.

However, this problem did not trouble him for long, and he soon came up with another solution.

He planned to get close enough to the tracker to fire, so that even if every bullet was a stray bullet, he could guarantee that the stray bullet would hit the tracker.

But if he did that, he would have to hold a heavy machine gun and fire it.

The M2 itself doesn't have a carrying handle; it only has a grip on the barrel for quick barrel changes. However, that thing can't support the weight of the entire gun, so Shen Ye simply took off his clothes and tied them to the barrel to serve as a grip.

And so, he charged toward Jill, machine gun in hand.

Although Jill and Brad were being chased around by the pursuers, they noticed Shen Ye's movements. When they saw him charging towards them with a heavy machine gun weighing over 100 pounds, their faces showed shock and fear.

“He’s as strong as a bull in heat,” Brad couldn’t help but exclaim.

“Brad, can’t you use a different adjective?” Jill was a little dissatisfied with Brad’s description.

“I’m sorry, I really don’t have time to think of a suitable word.” Brad thought for a moment, but couldn’t think of a good adjective, so he said, “But he is indeed stronger than a human.”

Chapter 30! Good News and Bad News

It's no wonder Brad thought so. The M2 heavy machine gun itself weighs close to 40 kilograms, and with the ammunition box, it weighs over 50 kilograms. Yet Shen Ye was able to carry it while running, which was completely beyond Brad's comprehension.

While the two were talking, Shen Ye had already closed to within twenty meters of the pursuer, holding a heavy machine gun.

This is a very dangerous distance; the tracker's tentacles could easily attack him, and his agility is greatly reduced because he is carrying a heavy machine gun.

But he kept getting close to the pursuers, shouting as he walked, "Jill, you need to find a safe place."

In fact, Jill and Brad had already done so without Shen Ye's reminder, turning away from the pursuers.

Upon discovering they were fleeing, the tracker intended to give chase, but Shen Ye shouted at it instead:

"Your opponent is me, monster."

The tracker, of course, didn't understand the meaning of those words, but when it saw the heavy machine gun in Shen Ye's hand, it instinctively sensed the threat, immediately abandoned its target, raised its arm, and several tentacles detached from its body and wrapped around Shen Ye.

At this moment, Shen Ye had closed to within ten meters of the pursuer, and the tentacles appeared in front of him almost in the blink of an eye.

Shen Ye remained calm and decisively pressed the fire button, and the heavy machine gun roared to life.

It must be said that the power of the 12.7mm machine gun bullet is truly formidable. The bullet tore apart the coiled tentacles the moment it left the barrel, and then, with undiminished momentum, struck its body.

Almost instantly, countless bloodstains appeared on the tracker's body, along with its muscle tissue.

Its body, which can withstand direct hits from small-caliber bullets, is as fragile as a piece of paper in the face of a large-caliber heavy machine gun.

But the pursuer was still alive and had not suffered any fatal injuries. After the heavy machine gun started firing, the violent muzzle jump made every bullet uncontrollable, and Shen Ye could only try to aim at the pursuer's huge body.
