Chapter 246 The Scent of a Trap Ahead
Occasionally, it would emerge from the ground or from among the strange rocks around, making everyone's scalp tingle.
Upon reaching the entrance of a valley, Kaiya suddenly raised his hand to signal a stop. He knelt on one knee, his fingers lightly touching the ground, feeling the subtle vibrations, and whispered, "Something's not right. There's the scent of a trap ahead."
Long Wen's eyes sharpened. He took a few steps forward, crouched down, and carefully examined the ground. Beneath the seemingly ordinary "773" pattern of sand and gravel, faint energy threads flickered, weaving into a complex net. Stepping into it rashly would surely trigger a deadly trap.
"Back off!" Long Wen shouted, and everyone quickly retreated several steps. He swiftly formed hand seals, his elemental power surging within him, and a soft light emanated from his palms, slowly probing the ground. Under the detection of the elemental power, the hidden traps gradually revealed their full extent. Fine beads of sweat appeared on Long Wen's forehead. Manipulating elemental power in this strange place was no easy task, consuming a great deal of energy, but he gritted his teeth and persevered, clearing a safe passage for everyone.
Crossing the valley, the landscape suddenly opened up, revealing a desolate wasteland. In the center of the wasteland stood an ancient and dilapidated ruin, its massive stone pillars leaning precariously, its walls covered in mysterious runes that emitted a faint glow. Long Wen's heart suddenly raced; he had a strong premonition that the key clue to his origins lay within this ruin.
Just as they were slowly approaching the ruins, a sudden change occurred. Several familiar figures emerged from the surrounding shadows; they were their former adventure partners. However, their eyes were now vacant, and they exuded an eerie aura, clearly indicating that they had been controlled.
"What... what's going on?" Zhou Li exclaimed, instinctively tightening her grip on her longsword.
Long Wen's heart sank. He knew that the tentacles of conspiracy had already reached them. Before he could react, his controlled companions launched a fierce attack.
Kaiya reacted quickly, flashing to meet one of them. He brandished his sword, creating a flash of cold light, and shouted, "Wake up! Don't be controlled!" But the man seemed not to hear him, his moves ruthless and deadly.
Rosalia held the cross horizontally, and a holy light shone forth, attempting to dispel the evil power controlling everyone. At the same time, she chanted, "In the name of God, purify the evil!" However, the moment the light touched those being controlled, it was swallowed by a dark force, which then retaliated. She groaned, staggered back several steps, and her face turned deathly pale...
Seeing this, Long Wen roared and unleashed his elemental power at full force. His figure moved across the battlefield like a ghost, his palms flashing with flames, frost, and lightning, sometimes burning with flames, sometimes slowing with frost, and sometimes paralyzing with lightning, trying to restrain his out-of-control friends and prevent further damage.
"Everyone calm down, don't fall into the enemy's trap!" Long Wen shouted, trying to bring his friends back to their senses, but all he got in response was a more ferocious attack.
In the midst of the fierce melee 3.5, Long Wen caught a glimpse of a dark figure flashing past in a corner of the ruins. A thought struck him, realizing that it might be the mastermind behind the conspiracy. He feigned weakness, deliberately creating an opening to lure several controlled individuals towards him. Then, he flashed away and chased after the dark figure.
"Long Wen, don't go!" Zhou Li shouted anxiously, trying to follow, but she was entangled by the two controlled individuals and could not break free.
Chapter 247 Dodging to the Side
Ignoring all warnings, Long Wen pursued the figure deep into the ruins. There stood a man in black robes before an ancient altar, holding a book that emitted an eerie light and chanting incantations. Long Wen's eyes flashed coldly, and he roared, "Who are you? Why are you trying to harm us?"
The man in black robes let out a piercing laugh: "Hmph, you fool who doesn't know your own death, seeking secrets you shouldn't have sought, today is your death day!" With that, he waved his hand, and the ground around him instantly cracked open, with sharp spikes bursting out of the soil and stabbing towards Long Wen.
Long Wen stomped his foot hard on the ground, using the momentum to leap up and avoid the spikes. He swiftly formed hand seals in mid-air, gathering elemental power into a powerful impact that slammed into the black-robed man. The black-robed man dodged to the side, but the shockwave left him unsteady.
Taking advantage of the moment, Long Wen landed and rushed forward, reaching out to snatch the ancient book. Seeing this, the man in black robes stuffed the book into his robes, quickly forming hand seals and summoning a group of shadow puppets that pounced on Long Wen.
Undeterred, Long Wen unleashed his elemental power, fighting the puppet with every move he could muster. Flames reduced the puppet to ashes, frost slowed its movements, and lightning paralyzed it. In the heat of battle, he closed in on the black-robed man, seized an opportunity, and kicked his wrist. The man cried out in pain, and the ancient book slipped from his grasp.
With lightning speed, Long Wen caught the ancient book, flipped through a few pages, and immediately, some astonishing information came into view. This ancient book was actually a record of an ancient, evil organization that attempted to control the continent of Teyvat, and Long Wen's background seemed to be intricately connected to this organization.
Suppressing his shock, Long Wenqiang tucked the ancient book into his robes and turned to leave. At that moment, he heard the battle outside growing increasingly fierce, knowing his friends were still fighting hard, and he was filled with anxiety.
When he rushed back to the battlefield, he found Zhou Li, Kaiya, and Rosalia badly wounded, and their controlled allies continued their relentless attack. Long Wen roared, displaying the crucial information from the ancient text to everyone, and shouted, "Look closely, everyone! We've been outmaneuvered by this evil organization!"
Upon hearing this, everyone was stunned, and even the controlled friend's eyes flashed with confusion. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Long Wen once again unleashed his elemental power, fighting alongside his friends and gradually stabilizing the situation.
However, after the conspiracy was exposed, the enemy was enraged. The man in black robes emerged from the shadows, raising his hands high, dark power gathering in his palms, and the surrounding air seemed to be sucked away, making it suffocating.
"Hmph, since you don't know what's good for you, then die!" the man in black roared.
Undeterred, Long Wen stood before the crowd, his elemental power fully activated, ready to meet the enemy's attack. A breathtaking battle erupted, with Long Wen constantly pushing his limits, his mastery of elemental power becoming increasingly refined and skillful. He fought against numerous opponents, forcing the enemy into a relentless retreat.
Just as Long Wen thought he was about to completely thwart 773's conspiracy, an even more powerful aura emanated from the depths of the ruins. A mysterious figure dressed in a purple-gold robe slowly emerged. His face was cold and stern, his eyes seemingly able to see through everything, and he held a scepter emitting an eerie light in his hand. He looked at Long Wen, a strange smile curling at the corner of his mouth: "Hmph, you little fellow, you really have some skill. However, the ultimate secret of your origins won't be so easily revealed." With that, he swung his scepter, and a world-destroying force crashed down upon Long Wen.
Inside the library, the fire raged, flames licking the surrounding bookshelves, and thick smoke quickly filled the air, choking people and making it impossible to open their eyes.
Chapter 01 Deliberate Action (To be released at 20:52 on January 24th)
Long Wen, his figure lithe and agile, his black robes appearing even more somber in the firelight, frowned deeply, his profound eyes rapidly scanning his surroundings, searching for a glimmer of hope in this desperate situation. Beside him, Zhou Li, still in her signature purple robes, her usually cold and elegant face now filled with tension, gripped her long whip tightly, occasionally lashing it to disperse the approaching flames. Lisa stood on the other side; as the librarian of Mondstadt, her usual languid demeanor was completely gone, replaced by a solemn expression. Her emerald green eyes were fixed on the flames, the spellbook in her hand glowing faintly, seemingly gathering some kind of power.
"This fire started suspiciously; it must have been deliberately set up to prevent us from finding the truth," Long Wen said through gritted teeth, his voice filled with anger and determination.
Zhou Li nodded slightly, her beautiful eyes looking at Long Wen with concern and trust. "Long Wen, don't panic. We will definitely find a way out, and we will definitely find clues about your background." Her voice was gentle, but it was like the warm spring sun, giving Long Wen a bit of strength.
Lisa stepped forward and patted Long Wen on the shoulder. "Yes, little guy, with me as your librarian, these bookshelves can't hide any secrets." A confident smile played on her lips as she tried to ease the tense atmosphere.
Long Wen took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down, and carefully observed his surroundings again. He discovered that the trajectory of the flames was not random; the flames seemed to always spread along a specific arrangement of the bookshelves, and the fire around some bookshelves was noticeably weaker than in other places, as if guided by some force.
“Look, the direction of the flames…” Long Wen pointed, a hint of excitement in his eyes, “It seems to be related to the arrangement of the bookshelves. If we follow the weaker part of the fire, we might find a way out and possibly discover more clues.”
Upon hearing this, Zhou Li and Lisa immediately looked in the direction Long Wen pointed, and after observing carefully for a moment, they both nodded in agreement.
“That makes sense. It seems the layout of this library is quite ingenious,” Lisa said thoughtfully, flipping through the magic book in her hand as if she were looking up some information.
At this moment, the fire grew even more intense, the scorching heat burning everyone's skin, and the crackling sound of burning wood echoed all around, filling them with dread. Long Wen knew that he couldn't delay any longer.
"Stay close to me!" Long Wen shouted, his elemental power surging rapidly. He waved his hands, and water element gathered first, forming a thin water curtain in front of him to try to block some of the heat wave. Then, wind element roared out, working in conjunction with the water curtain to blow away the approaching flames and open up a narrow passage.
Zhou Li and Lisa followed closely behind. Zhou Li swung her long whip, pulling away some of the scattered burning debris from their path, while Lisa chanted spells from time to time to reinforce the dragon rune's elemental protection with magic. The three of them carefully made their way deeper into the bookshelf.
Along the way, they encountered several counterattacks from the fire, with scorching waves of flames rushing towards them and nearly engulfing them. Long Wen gritted his teeth, constantly adjusting the output of his elemental power. Sweat soaked his back, and his hair was also slightly curled from the heat, but his eyes grew more determined, and he never showed any intention of backing down.
"Long Wen, watch out on the left!" Zhou Li suddenly exclaimed, swiftly lashing out with her long whip to deflect a burning beam. The beam crashed to the ground, sending sparks flying.
