Chapter 111 Friends, News

Last night, Wade checked the Friends Book and found that Michael, Neville, Hermione, and Theo all said they would come. Padma asked if she could bring her sister. Ryan was traveling to Italy with his family and wouldn't be back for a few days. Harry hadn't sent any messages.

Green flames rose, and the group arrived one by one.

They were used to seeing each other in their black uniforms at school. Now, seeing them all in casual clothes created a novel visual experience.

The Petit sisters, in particular, wore gorgeous long dresses, light makeup, and glittering gold jewelry on their wrists and necks, making them dazzlingly beautiful and graceful.

"Good morning! I hope we're not late," the girls said in unison.

The Petit sisters were already very beautiful, but being twins amplified their charm many times over.

Michael, who had been peering out the window at the animals, practically appeared in front of the fireplace upon hearing the sound, gracefully raising his hand in greeting.

"No, we just arrived too," he said happily.

“Miss Pettier and Miss Pettier, welcome to Graling Farm.”

Steven said, then turned to look at Wade, raising an eyebrow slightly.

Wade understood exactly what he was trying to say—

Such a beautiful girl, why don't you take the initiative?

Vader shook his head.

Steven has probably developed a conditioned reflex from his father's constant pressure to get married, and has picked up a bit of the matchmaker's instincts.

Neville stepped out of the fire and let out a long sigh of relief.

“Grandma originally didn’t want me to come,” he said with lingering fear. “But she changed her mind after she heard that the first and second place students in the grade were here.”

Before Theo could even speak after arriving, he heard the Petit sisters exclaim in surprise.

"what happened?"

Everyone thought they had been attacked and ran over to check.

“My necklace and earrings are gone!” Padma said, touching her empty earlobes.

“And the bracelet and hair clip,” Parvati added in a panic, “seemed to have vanished in an instant!”

Steven immediately understood.

“It’s a Niffler,” he said helplessly. “These little guys love shiny little things. Don’t worry, I’ll find it for you right away.”

He whistled, and a forked-tailed swallowdog came running over and sat down as straight as a soldier.

Steven stroked its ear, whispered a few words, and the swallowtail dog dashed off.

Not long after, it ran back, carrying a blue-black sniffer in its mouth, which looked somewhat like a platypus.

The swallowtail dog wagged its tail rapidly, its face full of "please praise me" expression.

Steven took the Niffler, patted its head, and praised, "Good boy."

"Is this a Niffler?" Parvati looked at the little animal curiously and asked doubtfully, "I don't see any jewelry! Is it hiding in its burrow?"

Steven said, "This is a Knox Niffler, unlike the Irish Niffler, it has a magical belly pouch—look!"

He held the sniffler upside down by its two hind legs and gave it a shake, and the Petit sisters' gold jewelry jingled and fell down, along with the harpy eggshell, gold cutlery, and some glittering pebbles.

The little guy looked extremely angry when it was put back on the ground. With tears in its eyes, it rummaged through the mess on the ground and then ran away.

"I think you'd better put all your jewelry away," Michael advised. "Otherwise, the Niffler might steal it again sometime."

Theo suddenly exclaimed, "Look! That's a fairy!"

Everyone looked over.

At first glance, you might mistake those flitting among the flowers for a group of dragonflies. But upon closer inspection, apart from their colorful wings, they look exactly like humans.

Delicate little figures, dressed in clothes made of flower petals or blades of grass, flitted about busily. Occasionally, they would stop on a leaf, as if to rest.

Everyone watched with bated breath, not daring to breathe loudly for fear of startling them away.

A fairy, seemingly drawn by the fragrance, flew to Padma's side. After circling twice, it landed on Theo's finger.

"Merlin..."

Parvati let out a groan-like sigh.

Theo looked at the green-haired fairy with surprise. She held a small magic wand in her hand, and sometimes gold and red shavings would spray from the tip of the wand when she flew.

Another fairy with transparent wings flew over, and the two exchanged a low buzzing sound. A moment later, the two flew away together.

Theo touched his fingers, looking somewhat lost.

"Some wizards would treat fairies as exquisite decorations, and after casting spells, fix them to lampstands or Christmas trees."

Steven said with a hint of pity, "But I think... they are more beautiful when they are flying freely."

"Fixed to the lampstand?" Padma asked. "Would they still survive then?"

“Some people will release the fairy after they’ve used it…but not everyone is willing to do that,” Steven said.

"Do they feel pain?" Theo asked in a low voice.

"Fairies have always been considered to have low intelligence, with brains probably similar to those of insects."

Steven said, "But how can any living being not feel pain? It's just that arrogant wizards can't empathize with their suffering."

These words left the young wizards silent for a long time, each of them deeply moved.

Hermione arrived in the afternoon, and she looked very worried.

"Have you been in contact with Harry during this time?" she asked the group.

They looked at each other and shook their heads.

“Harry doesn’t seem to have opened the Book of Friends,” Hermione said worriedly. “I even rented an owl to deliver letters to him, but he hasn’t replied. The same goes for Ron…”

"Is something wrong with Harry?" Theo asked, frowning.

“Maybe he’s been imprisoned by his Muggle relatives.” Michael guessed the truth immediately: “I knew he wasn’t being treated well!”

"Imprisoned? Muggles dare to do this to him?" Parvati said in surprise, then added, "Why don't we go and see?"

“Great! Let’s treat it as a group activity!” Michael said enthusiastically.

"No!" Wade dissuaded him, "It's too conspicuous for so many people to be in the Muggle community. I'll just go and check it out."

“What can a little kid like you do?” Steven said. “I’ll go with you.”

“I want to go too!” Hermione said. “I’m really worried about you.”

“No need!” Seeing that Theo was about to speak, Wade decisively refused, “Besides, I’m not alone… I’ll go with Remus.”

“Him?” Steven frowned at first, then seemed to remember something. “Oh… Remus Lupin, I remember he was good friends with James Porter.”

When James Porter enrolled, Steven was already close to graduating. Furthermore, they weren't in the same college and didn't know each other.

However, as the four were prominent figures at school, Steven had heard of their names and some of their exploits.

If Harry Potter were to encounter real danger or be mistreated by Muggles, then Remus Lupin, as his father's friend, would be the most appropriate person to step in as an elder.

Chapter 112 Past

When Wade emerged from the fireplace of the Leaky Cauldron, Lupin was already waiting for him.

The man was clearly in much better shape than when they first met.

He wore a dark blue wizard's robe, no longer the patched-up garment of the past. The sorrow and weariness on his face had largely disappeared, replaced by a calm and gentle melancholy that came with age.

Such a man was undoubtedly very charming, and Vader noticed some young witches subtly eyeing him.

Lupin ignored the stares. Upon seeing Wade, he couldn't help but smile and walked over, saying, "Long time no see, Wade."

They met very few times during the past six months, but their daily magic lessons never stopped. Through their correspondence, Lupin had become quite familiar with Vader.

Although young, he does not have the shortcomings that ordinary children often have, such as laziness, impulsiveness, immaturity, and restlessness.

He has clear goals and a high level of focus. He is constantly learning and growing, and exudes a spirit of striving for progress. Moreover, he is good at listening to and expressing his own ideas, but he does not blindly follow others.

He trusts and respects those around him, and is understanding of their difficulties. He treats Lupin with the same respect as the professors at the university, and never acts superior just because he is paid.

During his years of wandering, Lupin encountered all sorts of employers, many of whom thought, "I paid you, so you have to be my dog," and wanted to squeeze every last bit of value out of their employees.

Therefore, at this moment, his identification with Wade had reached an extremely high level, and the only obstacle was his own werewolf identity.

He didn't know that Wade knew from the beginning that he was a werewolf.

"Remus," Wade greeted, "I hope I didn't call you over suddenly and cause you any trouble?"

Lupin chuckled, "I haven't been too busy lately... Have you run into any trouble?"

“You know, Harry and I are classmates, and we get along pretty well.”

Wade didn't mince words, saying directly, "Since the holidays started, Harry has lost contact with all his friends, and everyone's a bit worried. I said I could go to his house to check on him—"

Since hearing Harry's name, Lupin's expression had undergone subtle changes, as if he were lost in thought or in pain.
