Li Xiuyuan's kick, delivered with almost full force, nearly killed even Shengde, who possessed the cultivation of a Golden Immortal.
Saint De felt that his internal organs had been severely damaged. The physical wounds were only external; the most important thing was the wound to his soul.
You must know that, to suffer such a great humiliation in front of the woman he loved, Saint De felt that it was worse than death. After thinking about it, he could only mutter some kind of incantation.
At this moment, the golden light intensified, and a figure flew over from the sky. The newcomer was surrounded by a golden light phenomenon, and he was riding on a strange beast, an ancient mad lion.
Li Xiuyuan couldn't help but stare intently over there. He saw that the man was holding a sword of wisdom and riding a lion, a metaphor for using the sword of wisdom to cut through troubles and using the lion's roar to intimidate demons and vengeful spirits.
This is the true Manjushri Bodhisattva, and his image is varied. According to his image, he can be divided into one-syllable, five-syllable, six-syllable, and eight-syllable Manjushri, among which the most common is the five-knot Manjushri.
The Five-Cloaked Manjushri gets his name from the five tufts of hair tied on his head, which represent five kinds of wisdom.
Manjushri Bodhisattva is typically depicted holding a wisdom sword in his right hand, symbolizing the cutting of afflictions with the sword of wisdom. (Or he may hold a ruyi scepter, symbolizing the attainment of wisdom).
The lotus he holds in his left hand bears the Prajnaparamita Sutra, representing the wisdom of thought.
The sword of wisdom signifies the ability to cut through all kinds of ignorance and delusion; wisdom is as sharp as a sword. The Prajna Sutra serves as a symbol of wisdom and compassion.
Manjushri Bodhisattva often rides a lion, symbolizing unparalleled wisdom and might, invincibility, and unbreakable strength.
Manjushri Bodhisattva is one of the four great Bodhisattvas in Buddhism. The other Bodhisattvas either sit on lotus thrones, representing purity and freedom from defilement, or ride golden peacocks, symbolizing freedom and ease.
In conclusion, none of the four great Bodhisattvas will have the same mount.
When Li Xiuyuan saw Manjushri Bodhisattva appear, he thought to himself, "Sure enough, after beating the young one, the old one has arrived. Fortunately, he wasn't killed."
Unless Li Xiuyuan reveals all his abilities, he absolutely cannot defeat Manjushri Bodhisattva.
Manjushri Bodhisattva opened his mouth and said calmly, "Jianglong, how dare you not kneel before me? Have you been in the mortal realm for too long and forgotten your manners?"
As he spoke, he glanced at Saint Virtue on the ground, and his face darkened. He almost flew into a rage and attacked immediately.
Others may not know the true identity of the Holy Virtue, but Manjushri Bodhisattva knows very well that the Fire Spirit Orb was a secret move he made.
Manjushri Bodhisattva would often pay attention to the development of the Holy Virtue. Even though he knew that the person had joined the Qiankun Cave, he did not stop him. In his heart, he wanted to hone the Holy Virtue so that he could evolve.
It turns out that the visualization practiced by the Holy Virtue was specially devised by Manjushri Bodhisattva, and his ability to condense his own Dharma form was also within his calculations.
There are three methods to achieve sainthood in the Three Realms: proving the Dao through force, achieving sainthood through the Three Corpses, and achieving sainthood through merit. This was mentioned by the Lord of Honggou, and on the surface, there are only three methods.
Proving one's Dao through force is too difficult; even the great god Pangu perished. Therefore, no one in the Three Realms chooses this path. However, some people have achieved the second path of becoming a saint through the Three Corpses, with the Dao Lord of Honggou being one of the best at it.
Finally, there is the path to sainthood through merit, which requires an immense amount of merit that is naturally difficult for ordinary people to achieve. For example, Nuwa possessed the merit of creating humankind, which enabled her to become a saint.
As for the Three Pure Ones, they possessed the great merit of Pangu creating the world, which enabled them to become saints. The two Buddhist monks were even more tragic; they made a promise to the Heavenly Dao to achieve sainthood.
However, because it is the merit of stealing from the Heavenly Way, if one does not fulfill one's great ambition, one will fall from the position of a saint.
In conclusion, the two saints in Buddhism are the most tragic. They did not have the merit of Nuwa creating humans, nor the great merit of the Three Pure Ones. They could only become saints after making forty-eight great vows.
The two of them also need to constantly remember to repay these merits, which means fulfilling their wishes.
For others, becoming a saint is naturally extremely difficult. Manjushri Bodhisattva doesn't have such ambitions; he only wants to become a quasi-saint. As for becoming a saint, that's beyond his current reach.
Manjushri Bodhisattva was originally Samantabhadra, one of the Twelve Golden Immortals. He wanted to follow the path of the Three Corpses and become a quasi-saint first. During the Investiture of the Gods war, the Twelve Golden Immortals had their Three Flowers removed and could only be restored through reincarnation.
This is also why Yuanshi Tianzun was furious. With all twelve of his disciples crippled, he didn't care about bullying the weak and directly attacked the Three Immortals.
The Tongtian Sect Leader was enraged by this and immediately set up the Immortal Slaughtering Sword Formation.
Cough!
But I digress. Manjushri Bodhisattva is going to follow the path of the Three Corpses, so he naturally needs innate spiritual treasures to entrust the Three Corpses to. The more powerful the innate spiritual treasure, the stronger the power of the Three Corpses.
However, Buddhism is too poor and cannot obtain innate spiritual treasures. Everyone has to find their own way. Manjushri Bodhisattva has innate spiritual treasures bestowed by the Primordial Celestial Venerable.
However, if it is used up, then there will be no good weapon when fighting enemies. Therefore, Manjushri Bodhisattva had an idea and hoped to cultivate a magic weapon that could be used to support the three corpses from acquired spiritual treasures.
As for the original form of the Holy Virtue Fire Spirit Orb, his first consideration was to let the Fire Spirit Orb take human form, and then let it cultivate and undergo trials in the mortal world, hoping that it could transform itself through these trials.
However, Li Xiuyuan's sudden appearance, coupled with the fact that Shengde invited Manjushri Bodhisattva over, led to his appearance, which resulted in the scene before us.
Chapter 296 Fierce Battle with Manjushri
This Fire Spirit Orb was prepared by Manjushri Bodhisattva to house the three corpses. Now that he sees it suffer such a great humiliation, he naturally won't look good.
Li Xiuyuan listened to Manjushri's words and said calmly, "Bodhisattva, how could Jianglong be impolite? I'm just afraid that some nobodies might impersonate the Bodhisattva."
As he spoke, his gaze fell upon Saint Virtue, the subject of which was self-evident.
This isn't the first time that this saint has impersonated Manjushri Bodhisattva. Li Xiuyuan couldn't understand the relationship between the two, but he still had some judgment. The Manjushri Bodhisattva in front of him was genuine.
However, Li Xiuyuan had no intention of performing the ceremony; the above words were merely an excuse.
"Hmph, I don't want to hear your excuses. Why did Jianglong injure my disciples?"
As he spoke, Manjushri Bodhisattva's gaze became intense and cold as he stared at Li Xiuyuan.
Upon hearing this, Li Xiuyuan's lips curled up, and he said calmly, "Bodhisattva, is this Holy Virtue impersonating you truly your disciple?"
He paused and then said, "There is also this person who has taken the Master of Qiankun Cave as his master, which has tarnished the reputation of our Buddhism. This humble monk's intervention can be considered as eliminating a scourge for the people."
As he spoke, he showed no fear of Manjushri Bodhisattva, even though both of them were from the same Buddhist lineage.
But Li Xiuyuan knew in his heart that there would be struggles everywhere. The Buddha was originally Duobao Daoren, and Manjushri Bodhisattva was Samantabhadra Zhenren.
The two originally belonged to different sects, and the great war in the Investiture of the Gods made the people of the two sects never speak to each other again.
Although they had all joined Buddhism, there was still some behind-the-scenes infighting. The Buddhist community was a large family, mainly divided into three factions, with the most prominent being the lineage of Bhaisajyaguru and others, including Cundi and Jieyin, who held key positions within the Buddhist community.
Next came the Buddha Tathagata, along with his three thousand disciples of the Jie Sect, who were also of the same lineage. Following them was the Buddha Dipankara, along with Guanyin Bodhisattva, Manjushri Bodhisattva, and others, forming another lineage.
Normally, with the lineage of Zhunti and Jieyin suppressing them, no one dares to act rashly. Moreover, the struggles within Buddhism are rarely brought into the open, but they do occur.
Outsiders wouldn't know about this, and Buddhist monks, considering the bigger picture, would temporarily suppress internal conflicts, since everyone is in the same boat and some things shouldn't go too far.
"Hmph, I, the Dragon Subduer, think you've been in the mortal realm for too long, daring to talk back to me again and again."
After saying this, Manjushri Bodhisattva's face darkened. He thought to himself, "When did Jianglong become so sharp-tongued?" In fact, as long as Li Xiuyuan bowed his head, he would not be able to make things too difficult for him.
“Manjushri Bodhisattva, although you are an elder, you should still be reasonable. Otherwise, we can go to the Buddha to settle this matter.”
As he spoke, Li Xiuyuan curled his lip, seemingly a little disdainful. Although Manjushri Bodhisattva was powerful, he did not want to reveal all his abilities, but with his spatial supernatural powers, he was still confident in defeating the enemy.
At least Li Xiuyuan was confident in protecting himself, and that was without revealing his many magical treasures.
"Dragon Subduer, stop arguing! Today, I will teach you a lesson on behalf of the Buddha."
As he spoke, Manjushri Bodhisattva, wielding the sword of wisdom, fiercely slashed at Li Xiuyuan.
With this sword strike, a burst of golden light appeared. Manjushri Bodhisattva was a master of the Great Luo Golden Immortal level, and having undergone retraining, his foundation was extremely solid, making him one of the few Great Luo Golden Immortals who could rival him.
After all, he is one of the four Bodhisattvas in Buddhism, far superior to those insignificant figures of the past. Major sects have profound foundations, and the fact that he was chosen by the Primordial Celestial Venerable from among countless beings to be one of the Twelve Golden Immortals naturally indicates that he possesses extraordinary abilities.
When Li Xiuyuan saw the golden giant sword slashing towards him with an earth-shattering momentum, he thought to himself, "Shameless! Disrespectful to elders! Yuanshi Tianzun is bullying the younger generation like this. Zhunti's thick skin has been completely learned by him."
If it were the Dragon Subduing Sword from the original story, he would be utterly powerless against this sword. Unfortunately, he encountered Li Xiuyuan instead.
With a thought, Li Xiuyuan appeared behind Manjushri Bodhisattva, wielding the Divine Demon Sword and unleashing a terrifying sword aura that soared into the sky.
A black light flashed through the air and landed directly behind Manjushri Bodhisattva. The power of this sword was extraordinary. With Li Xiuyuan's full effort, plus the Divine Demon Sword, which was a mid-grade innate spiritual treasure and whose power was comparable to a high-grade innate spiritual treasure, it was a powerful attack.
The black sword light struck Manjushri Bodhisattva's back, and with a loud rumble, his Dharma form was destroyed.
Manjushri Bodhisattva was furious. What he had just heard was the law of space. He had sensed the fluctuations in space. What merit did this Dragon Subduer have to comprehend the law of space?
It should be noted that even veteran quasi-saints rarely possess knowledge of spatial laws.
Li Xiuyuan has mastered the laws of space, which puts him in an invincible position in his battle against Manjushri Bodhisattva. Even if he can't win, he can still run away!
Li Xiuyuan grabbed Mingzhu and said with a sneer, "Bodhisattva, it is impolite not to reciprocate. You cut me with your sword, and I will return the favor with mine. We are even now."
He paused and then said, "If the Bodhisattva wants to regain face, he is welcome to come to Lingyin Temple. I will invite all my fellow disciples to come, and we can have another match."
After saying that, he used his teleportation ability to return to Lingyin Temple.
"hateful!"
Manjushri Bodhisattva saw the fluctuations in the array space and Li Xiuyuan's voice echoing between heaven and earth. It was no longer possible to find Jianglong again.
Unless he really attacks Lingyin Temple, he has to be careful about Li Xiuyuan's words. If he really invites the Eighteen Arhats, they will definitely not help him.
Manjushri Bodhisattva won't benefit from continuing the fight with Jianglong, since they are fellow disciples.
Most importantly, since Jianglong has comprehended the laws of space, it will be extremely difficult for him to teach Jianglong a lesson unless Jianglong himself reaches the level of a quasi-saint.
However, the enmity between the two has already been formed, and Manjushri Bodhisattva has been humiliated by a junior, so a fight is bound to break out sooner or later.
But before that, Manjushri Bodhisattva needs to plan carefully and not act rashly.
Chapter 297 The Great Array of Heavenly Gods and Demons
call!
Li Xiuyuan breathed a sigh of relief. He thought to himself, "As expected, veteran Grand Luo Golden Immortals all have some skills. If I hadn't revealed the laws of space, the outcome of that sword strike would have been unpredictable."
However, comprehending the laws of space on one's own is a good thing for Buddhism. If the Buddhas or the two sages knew about it, they would probably nurture him well, and he would receive more resources.
Although Buddhism is relatively poor, that is in comparison to the Three Pure Ones. Within the Three Realms, Buddhism has a vast influence and still possesses many valuable resources.
Li Xiuyuan thought to himself that he was not afraid of exposing the laws of space, since it was not the laws of power.
As for Manjushri Bodhisattva, Li Xiuyuan had already formed a grudge against him, and just now, when he was off guard, he had made the other party suffer a considerable loss.
However, Li Xiuyuan had no regrets. He would have more and more enemies in the future, so why would he be afraid of a mere Manjushri Bodhisattva? If he waited for the other party to want to deal with him, he would probably have already reached the realm of a Great Luo Golden Immortal.
Li Xiuyuan will not be afraid of his opponent at that time, relying on his own combat strength. In addition, Li Xiuyuan also has his own ideas.
