Chapter 6 A Night for Two
Kasumigaoka Utaha seemed to understand, but not quite.
Roy said a lot.
What she could understand was that the magic in this world was completely different from the magic she had seen in novels before. They were almost two completely different things, each with its own unique complexity and obscurity.
However, now that the magician's exam has added a strength standard, and Roy is the lowest-ranking candidate, does that mean he is the weakest among magicians?
He clearly killed a monster bigger than a lion in one move.
And if that's the case, why was that magician who opened the position so enthusiastic towards Roy during the day at the refugee camp?
"You go take a shower first."
Roy came out of the kitchen, his hands still wet.
He pointed in the direction of the bathroom.
"I'll get the clothes for you in a bit."
"……I see."
Kasumigaoka Utaha remained silent for several seconds before getting up and heading towards the bathroom.
The bathroom also has a very traditional Japanese style, which to her has a kind of beauty from the last century. Fortunately, the water and electricity still work.
As she was taking off her shirt, she suddenly paused.
Looking down, she realized that her shirt was already soaked, and the outline of her underwear was visible through it. Although it wasn't very clear, it had a hazy, alluring quality.
Could it be that he saw everything during dinner just now?
The girl crossed her arms, a blush rising on her face that was hard to tell whether it was from shyness or anger, making her look charming and alluring.
After a while, she sighed with a wry smile and sat down on the stool to wash herself.
With her fair skin and voluptuous figure, she is incredibly eye-catching from every angle.
But she seemed preoccupied and her attention was not on taking a shower at all.
"I've brought the clothes."
Pfft!
In the quiet bathroom, a sudden, intense heartbeat erupted, filling her mind with tension and making Kasumigaoka Utaha feel like she was sitting on pins and needles.
"It's at the door. If it doesn't fit, just make do with it."
As soon as he finished speaking, footsteps sounded and gradually faded into the distance.
Kasumigaoka Utaha breathed a sigh of relief, her smooth, rounded shoulders slumping limply.
after an hour.
Kasumigaoka Utaha sat upright in front of the kotatsu. She was wearing a loose, pure white nightgown, and her headband was off. Her long hair was still damp with water, and because she had just taken a bath, her skin looked much more delicate than during the day.
Her expression was serious, as if she were deep in thought.
Upon hearing Roy's footsteps, the girl suddenly tensed up.
Then, as if she had made an important decision, she looked up at Roy.
The boy was wearing a simple white T-shirt and indigo trousers. Without the restraint of a baseball cap, his wet, messy white hair was fully visible. His hair was thick and slightly curled at the ends, making him look elegant and fashionable.
He took off his glasses, and Shiyu saw his features clearly for the first time.
Indeed, he was as exquisite as a work of art, neither leaning towards handsome nor beautiful, but possessing an all-around quality that combined both. The charm of his face seemed to transcend gender, making him more attractive than any idol she had ever seen on television.
Under the lights, his skin was dazzlingly white, in no way inferior to hers, a girl, and his slender body gave people a sickly sense of fragility.
Looking at that face, Kasumigaoka Utaha suddenly felt a little confused.
She felt a sense of unease that she couldn't quite pinpoint.
I can't quite put my finger on what's off, but I'm inexplicably bothered by it.
I always felt there was something wrong with his face.
Suddenly, Roy turned his head.
Kasumigaoka Utaha suddenly met those blood-red pupils, her delicate body trembled instinctively, as if she were being stared at by something dangerous, and a sense of panic welled up from the bottom of her heart.
For some reason, his blood-red eyes suddenly became much more sinister. Against the backdrop of those blood-red eyes, his expression was less gentle and more indifferent than during the day.
"You're here."
Roy saw the girl sitting by the kotatsu, put his glasses back on, and a smile appeared on his face.
The moment his gentle smile appeared, his cold aura vanished, and his demeanor softened once more.
"You can sleep on your side tonight."
Kasumigaoka Utaha was a little unaccustomed to his rapid change, but she didn't mind.
She breathed a heavy sigh of relief; thankfully, Roy didn't intend for her to serve him in bed.
She is now a refugee. Judging from the attitude of the shelter, refugees have a very low status in this world. Even if they only do something minor, which is definitely not a capital offense, they can still be killed without hesitation.
Even if Roy asked her to sleep with him tonight, she would have no choice; if she refused, it might even lead to her death.
And who knows if magicians have any hypnotic or similar techniques?
Fortunately, Roy didn't do that, which put her at ease.
Kasumigaoka Utaha secretly rejoiced that the master she served was not the kind of person who was blinded by lust.
Under Roy's arrangement, Kasumigaoka Utaha settled into a side bedroom. Although it was a side bedroom, it was much larger than the master bedroom of an average family, and it was fully equipped with a bed, bedding, and wardrobe.
After the lights were turned off, Kasumigaoka Utaha lay in bed, her thoughts a jumble of complex emotions.
During the day at the shelter, she remembered the blond, dark-skinned magician who seemed to have taken a liking to her looks and intended to take her away.
Then Roy arrived and, under the pretext of taking a liking to her, snatched her away from that man.
But she stayed here, and Roy did nothing.
If he wanted to do something, she would be powerless to resist, and there was no need for her to pretend to be a gentleman. In other words, Roy really didn't intend to do anything to her.
She certainly didn't expect Roy to do anything; she was just curious about it.
If he didn't have that intention, why did Roy snatch her from that dark-skinned man?
To be honest, she didn't like that dark-skinned guy either. The way he looked at her was like he was looking at a commodity, not like he was looking at a fellow human being.
In comparison, Roy was gentle and gentlemanly, much better than that dark-skinned man, and she would certainly prefer to be Roy's servant.
I don't know how Aki Tomoya is doing, but he's a guy, so he can't be worse off than her.
So much happened today, she was exhausted, her mind quickly became a mess, and she drifted off to sleep.
"I hope that when I wake up tomorrow, I'll find that it was all a dream..."
night.
Roy settled Kasumigaoka Utaha down, picked up a bottle of sake, and sat down alone under the eaves.
Looking up at the sky, dark clouds obscured everything, and the moon was nowhere to be seen; even drinking wine under the moon was a luxury.
He tilted his head back and gulped down the liquor, the spicy taste stimulating his senses as it flowed from his throat into his stomach. Contrary to his gentlemanly appearance, he drank with complete nonchalance.
"It's about time we started..."
late at night.
Roy changed his clothes, wearing a black robe and a mask to hide his face, and walked out of the mansion dressed entirely in black.
Only his blood-red pupils were visible.
Without the glasses to conceal his gaze, his eyes were much sharper and colder than during the day.
Without a sound, his figure disappeared into the darkness.
On the west side of Fuyuki City, there is a small hill, less than 100 meters high, and the only way to get up the hill is a long staircase at the front.
This mountain is called Yuanzang Mountain.
There used to be a temple on this mountain called Liudong Temple, but it was burned down in a fire ten years ago. The abbot and his family who lived in the temple perished in the fire. To this day, the place remains a scorched earth.
"There are quite a few barriers."
The man in black stopped at the foot of the mountain. He had walked without alerting anyone.
"But it's meaningless."
The man in black smirked beneath his mask, his tone laced with malice.
He closed his eyes, then opened them again.
A jewel-like brilliance shone in his eyes.

The moment he opened his eyes again, the color of blood vanished from them.
