The unfortunate prison guards responsible for delivering lunch, along with all the staff in the canteen, stood obediently in a row.

A dozen or so prison guards surrounded them.

The guards in the surrounding watchtowers even aimed their sniper rifles at this area.

Popp stared angrily at these people, but he just stared without saying a word.

Time passes slowly.

suddenly.

A series of sirens blared outside Fox River State Penitentiary and rapidly approached.

Not long after.

Police cars drove into the prison and stopped. One by one, officers got out of the cars and, led by the guards at the prison gate, walked toward Pope.

Pope had managed Fox River State Penitentiary for decades, and with his consistently good relationships, he had a wide circle of connections and a wealth of contacts.

These officers were all transferred from nearby police stations to help him.

"Thank you all for your hard work," Pope said once the officers were all in front of him. "Today's mission is very urgent, so I won't go into details for now."

"Everyone, please turn the cafeteria upside down, don't miss an inch! Collect anything suspicious that might be related to poison!"

The officers responded and left, heading straight for the cafeteria.

At this moment, Pope turned to the row of 'suspects' standing in front of him and spoke, "Three prisoners are dead!! Whether it was one of you or some of you who poisoned them for whatever reason, you have seriously violated the law and are murderers!"

I'll only say that once!

"If you did it, come forward and confess immediately! There might still be room for negotiation!"

"Otherwise, once I find out, I'll make sure you spend the rest of your life in prison!!!"

Popper had already roughly identified the poisoner among these people, and he threatened them with absolute certainty and a resolute tone.

This is also normal.

after all.

Area A is under lockdown today, and all prisoners are confined to their own cells. The poison was clearly not airborne, otherwise, many would have died, not just Quinn.

This way.

Who else could have poisoned them but one or more of these people?

This threat entered the air.

Of course.

No one admitted it; they all denied it, each one of them feeling wronged.

“Fine, since that’s how you want it to be, then don’t blame me for being impolite!” Pope was even angrier, turning to Berwick, “Get a tent ready immediately and arrange for a body search!”

“Okay!” Berrick’s face turned fierce, but he didn’t hesitate for a moment and turned to make the arrangements.

The group of suspects looked at each other...

Interestingly, not a single person claimed that Popper's actions were violating their rights or breaking the law...

It's interesting.

-

It's about two o'clock in the afternoon.

Sarah received a phone call.

"Dr. Doncrety, the test results for the toxins in the body of the deceased, Big Norman, came back yesterday morning. His body contained five highly toxic substances: arsenic, ricin, cyanide, strychnine, and a cardiac glycoside extracted from lily of the valley..."

"I really can't imagine why these five highly toxic substances would appear in one person's body all at once..."

"What exactly happened in your prison...?"

The person on the other end of the phone said with some trepidation.

"I don't know either, it's very serious..." Sarah was at her wit's end after hearing this, and replied helplessly. After thinking for a moment, she realized a problem, "According to your professional understanding, if a person ingests these five deadly poisons, how long will it take for them to die? Is there an incubation period?"

"Absolutely not!" the person on the other end of the phone replied with certainty. "Once these five deadly poisons enter the bloodstream, the person will die within a minute at most, usually just a few tens of seconds. There is no possibility of any incubation period!"

"Why do you ask?"

Sarah rubbed her forehead, deep in thought. "If that's the case, then something is very wrong, even absurd."

After a pause, Sarah added, "I'm sorry, I can't go into the details right now. I need to see the warden now, and we can talk later. Thank you for your help."

"You're welcome."

Sarah quickly found Pope and, without further ado, told him about the poison, followed by her own suspicions.

"Warden, the killer might not necessarily be someone from the canteen..."

“Bbig died of poisoning on the playground yesterday morning, a long time after he had eaten breakfast…”

"The same goes for Bowman last night; he died too far from dinnertime..."

"These two must have ingested toxins through some other means, not from the food..."

"As for Quinn today... I highly suspect that the killer wanted you to believe that the poison came from the food..."

Popper listened and nodded.

He was no fool to have managed Fox River State Penitentiary for decades. As soon as he heard that the five toxins could kill a person within a minute, he realized the problem.

The absence of an incubation period means that the person who poisoned the victim must have been near the deceased.

but……

This is even more troublesome!!!

Leaving aside what happened to Big yesterday morning, Big died on the playground, where many people could have easily killed him.

Bowman last night, Quinn today, both died in their closed cell doors...

Who can make the move?

The most likely suspects are Bowman's roommate Lewis (from the department store) and Quinn's roommate Abruzzi.

But this is completely unreasonable!

Why would Louis and Abruzzi turn on their own trusted subordinates? And why were they so foolish as to do it in prison?

Is there something wrong with your brain?

Then.

If it wasn't Louis and Abruzzi, then who else could it be?

Who could poison Bowman and Quinn while the prison was closed?

It can probably only be a prison guard!

Think of this.

Pope's heart was clenched. He took a few deep breaths silently to calm himself down before speaking, "All three victims ingested poison, right?"

Sarah nodded. "Yes."

"So that means they must have eaten or drunk something shortly before they died, is that what you mean?" Popper asked again.

Sarah nodded again, "Or perhaps you shot at the pillar, or smoked a cigarette."

“Okay, let’s figure this out first,” Pope said, heading towards Sector A of the prison. “Thank you for your hard work.”

"You're welcome."

-

The atmosphere in Section A prison was incredibly heated.

Ding Zezhen was a little curious about this.

Don't these prisoners ever get tired? They've been making a ruckus for almost two hours, and they haven't even eaten lunch. If they did, they probably threw it all up. Where do they get all this energy?

Is it because they've been locked up for so long and have nowhere to vent their frustrations?

Ding Ze, having nothing better to do, let his mind wander.

at this time.

Pope returned and questioned Louis first, then Abruzzi.

The result is regrettable.

Louis swore that in the minutes before his death, Bowman lay in bed sleeping, without eating anything, smoking, or even drinking a drop of water.

Abruzzi determined that Quinn had not eaten, drunk, or smoked anything in the minutes leading up to that fatal lunch.

Pope was going crazy, so he went to Bagwell again.

Bagwell thought for a moment, "Warden, what could we possibly eat on the parade ground besides air? I swear, Big didn't eat anything before he died!"

Pope: "..."

Pop left in a flurry of activity.

Interestingly.
