Marvel's Spider-Man: Web of Fate
Page 66
Rationally speaking, Iron Man's approach is indeed correct, after all, to the Avengers, he is just a 15-year-old kid who has just gained superpowers.
To prevent him from doing anything reckless, it's understandable to install a tracker to locate him.
But from Peter's own personal perspective, he could not accept this behavior.
Peter felt extremely uncomfortable at the thought that his daily activities were being monitored.
Especially now that he has the glowing spider web in his mind, he will likely frequently travel to different Spider-Man worlds for adventures.
Once he gets there, his body here will be in a state of slumber.
Once or twice is fine, but if it happens too often, it will definitely be discovered!
Peter is not yet ready to share his secret with anyone else.
Even in the Earth-1610B universe, when he spoke with Spider-Man B and others, he only briefly mentioned that his abilities were slightly different from theirs, without giving any specific details.
Peter held the tracker between two fingers, and with a slight squeeze, crushed it to pieces.
He didn't intend to use this as evidence to question Iron Man about why he was being followed.
That doesn't make any sense.
The tracker is actually quite obvious; it's directly attached to the inside of the suit, clearly added later.
If he wanted to remain hidden, he could easily hide in the gaps of the middle layer of his suit, directly inside the circuitry.
This shows that they were not afraid of being discovered by Peter at all.
Even if Peter came to their door to question them, they could say it was to protect him or something like that.
"In the end, I can only rely on myself!" Peter turned his battle suit inside out and stuffed it back into his backpack.
Chapter 77 Misunderstanding
Peter did not give up on the web-shooter.
Although he can shoot spider silk, spider silk is made of protein and requires his own energy to generate and synthesize. He'll need to do some research to find out the specifics.
In short, regardless of the outcome, the spider silk he emitted could not possibly be produced infinitely and without any cost.
Whether it's magical energy or biological protein, it always requires something to be consumed.
Even if he has plenty of energy, it's always better not to expend it if possible.
Otherwise, he'd have to be like the Flash in DC Comics, constantly grabbing a hot dog to recharge, which would be so embarrassing!
Besides, there is another reason.
He wanted to keep something in reserve.
The fact that Iron Man installed a tracker on the Spider-Man suit he gave him made him realize that others are ultimately others, and he must rely on himself.
Since he had given them the impression of using a web-shooter, he decided to let them continue to believe that.
His ability to produce spider silk became a means of concealment.
Imagine an enemy who has specifically studied him and managed to destroy his web-shooters, thinking that this would disable his attack methods and defeat him, only to have him suddenly use his own webs.
This might have an unexpected effect!
-
Two hours later, Peter met Ned.
This guy actually brought his Lego Death Star set with him.
However, since Peter had just experienced a fierce battle in another dimension, making small figurines with Ned now allowed him to enjoy some rare inner peace.
Only now did he finally rediscover some of the joy that belonged to someone his age.
The two of them played and laughed, and two hours passed in the blink of an eye.
Thanks to the combination of two highly intelligent individuals, this massive project, consisting of 3803 building blocks, was completed in just two hours.
This was even though Peter was extremely careful the whole time, afraid that he might crush the blocks if he used too much force.
"Wow! I can't believe it's finished so quickly!" Ned shouted excitedly, jumping up and down. "Coming to you was definitely the best choice. If I had gone by myself, it probably would have taken me several days!"
Peter chuckled and said narcissistically, "Of course, I'm a genius."
“Yes, Peter Parker is a famous genius at Midtown Tech High School,” Ned actually agreed with his narcissistic statement in a serious manner.
This has stumped Peter.
“Shall we go out to eat? I’m hungry,” Ned patted his stomach; judging from his size, he clearly loved to eat.
Peter pointed to the kitchen: "Let's eat at home. Aunt May left me a lot of food in the fridge."
“Okay, but I can only do some simple things,” Ned said.
“What a coincidence, me too,” Peter replied.
The two laughed together.
While the two were busy taking ingredients out of the refrigerator and piecing together a edible dinner, Aunt Mei suddenly rushed home in a hurry.
Aunt May was stunned to see Peter and Ned whistling and bustling about happily in the kitchen.
“Aunt May, what brings you back?” Peter turned around and saw Aunt May, feigning surprise.
He naturally knew that someone had just opened the door and come in.
But he heard the sound of a key turning in the lock and felt a familiar presence, so he knew that Aunt May had already come in.
However, he was also surprised.
Aunt Mei clearly said she wouldn't be back until Monday, so why is she back early now?
Peter's shout startled Ned as well.
Ned was frying eggs, tossing the pan to flip them over.
Startled, the egg almost fell to the ground.
Luckily, Peter reacted quickly and pulled the pot back into the pan, which helped the eggs lie obediently back inside.
“Hi, hello, Aunt May,” Ned greeted Aunt May with a somewhat comical expression.
“Hello, Ned, welcome to our home,” Aunt May greeted Ned, then walked over to Peter, touched his forehead under Peter’s questioning gaze, then touched her own, muttering, “Doesn’t seem sick.”
Peter: ?
He seemed to know why Aunt Mei had returned out of the blue.
It's probably because he lied and said he was sick and took a day off.
Peter felt a little guilty.
He took the day off to be a proper Spider-Man in the Earth-1610B world, but it caused his family and friends here to worry.
This even forced Aunt May to abandon what might have been an urgent matter on her end and rush back.
This really shouldn't be the case.
-
While Peter was secretly blaming himself, May Parker was also secretly blaming herself.
She blamed herself for participating in those adventurous charity events so many times—even though they were really exciting, fun, and could earn charity funds for the shelter.
But while she was doing those things, her nephew was left alone at home. When he was hungry, he could only buy ready-made food from the store. He was even forced to grow up and suddenly sent her a series of very considerate messages, telling her not to worry about him.
This is not the kind of experience a 15-year-old should have.
He should be happier and more carefree.
-
And so, the aunt and niece fell into a strange and beautiful misunderstanding.
Peter's life seemed to return to normal after that.
Although the glowing spider web in my mind recorded several new parallel universe nodes in the earth-1610B universe, none of them were lit up.
This means he can temporarily put aside the chaos of other parallel universes and enjoy the unique tranquility of his own world.
Hmm. Compared to the events or super villains I encounter every time I travel to another world, my own world is indeed much more peaceful on the surface.
Perhaps it's because the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. agents are taking the lead?
Of course, this is on the premise of not going to Hell's Kitchen, which is just across the river.
However, Daredevil and the Punisher were at Hell's Kitchen, so Peter had no intention of going there unless there was something urgent.
During this period, there are two things that are worth paying attention to.
The first thing was that a female classmate of his and Ned's, named Liz Allen, transferred schools.
Unfortunately, Peter originally had quite a good impression of her.
I don't know why she transferred schools.
She was originally the captain of the school's decathlon team, but after she left, the captaincy inexplicably fell to that arrogant guy, Flamboyant.
God knows why this guy, who was originally just a reserve member, suddenly became the captain!
