After walking up and down the stairs for half an hour, and finally finding the restaurant by following the directions of the portraits on both sides of the corridor, Zicomo finally found the restaurant.
When we arrived at the restaurant, some of the female students from Ravenclaw were already eating at their tables.
As for the Gryffindor table, there was only one familiar figure, Zicomo.
Zicomo sat down next to the figure.
"Cousin? Am I dreaming? You're up so early?" Hermione asked in surprise.
She knew her cousin's schedule all too well; if she didn't wake him, he could sleep until noon.
In reality, Zicomo didn't sleep that long; he usually only needed two or three hours of sleep to regain his full energy.
For the rest of the time, Zicomo performed good deeds in the Elden Ring, sending the monsters back to the Golden Tree.
Upon hearing this, Zicomo was speechless and gave Hermione a flick on the forehead.
Hermione cried out in pain.
"Do you still feel like you're dreaming?"
"I don't feel that way anymore, hehe." Hermione playfully stuck out her tongue.
Seeing that Hermione had stopped being naughty, Zicomo also started eating breakfast.
The meals at Hogwarts are prepared by house-elves in the kitchen and delivered directly to the dining room; unless there are special requests, everyone's meals are the same.
Zicomo remembered that the kitchen entrance was on the stairs leading to the Hufflepuff lounge; he'd have to ask the house-elves if they knew how to cook Chinese food sometime.
Breakfast without soy milk, fried dough sticks, and steamed buns just doesn't feel right.
The two of them chatted while eating.
"How about we go to the library after breakfast?" Zicomo suggested.
"No, I haven't finished reading the book you gave me yet," Hermione said.
"After we finish eating, let's wander around and get familiar with the surroundings."
"it is good."
Hermione had planned to go back to the common room to read after breakfast, but then she remembered that this was the first time her cousin had invited her, so she nodded in agreement almost without thinking.
But she soon realized something was wrong. After passing through the same corridor with her cousin for the third time, Hermione couldn't help but speak up.
"Cousin, you're not lost, are you?"
“What do you mean I’m lost! I’m just not familiar with the layout of the castle yet!” Zicomo retorted loudly.
"Yes, yes, you're not lost. I need to go back to the lounge to get my textbooks for class. Could you come with me, cousin?"
Hermione didn't refute Zicomo, but went along with him.
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go! Don't be late! The first class is our dean's class. Don't leave a bad impression on our dean." Zicomo turned and left.
"Cousin! The lounge is over here!" Hermione quickly reminded him as she watched him walk further and further away.
At that moment, Zicomo was so embarrassed he wanted to die.
Hermione hadn't expected that her genius cousin would be so bad at directions; the contrast was actually quite endearing.
The two arrived at the classroom and saw the adorable spotted cat on the podium. Hermione couldn't resist going up to pet it.
Seeing this, Zicomo quickly stopped her and whispered, "Do you remember the Animagus I mentioned when I taught you Transfiguration?"
"You mean this cat is a human in disguise?" Hermione recalled Zicomo's teachings.
“Yes, look at the pattern around its eyes, who do you think it looks like?” Zicomo prompted.
“Professor McGonagall! Good heavens! Thank goodness you stopped me!” Hermione exclaimed.
The two bowed to Professor McGonagall, and McGonagall nodded back.
As time went by, more and more people filled the classroom, but Harry and Ron were still nowhere to be seen.
Hermione still cares a lot about the two friends she met yesterday.
Zicomo noticed it too, and he turned to ask their roommate Seamus, "Seamus, are Harry and Ron still asleep?"
Simo shook his head and said, "I called them when I got up, and they answered. But I don't know if they got up after that."
Zicomo estimated that the two would be late again, just like in the original story.
Class time arrived, but Harry and Ron still hadn't shown up.
Professor McGonagall did not reveal her true form, but waited quietly.
The two guys didn't rush into the classroom until five minutes into class.
Ron was still relieved that Professor McGonagall wasn't there when, to his surprise, the spotted cat on the podium jumped down and transformed into Professor McGonagall.
Professor McGonagall reprimanded the two of them before letting them sit down and starting the lesson.
"Transfiguration was originally a type of magic created by wizards to make their lives easier. As wizards perfected Transfiguration, they summarized the basic principles of Gump Transfiguration."
"That is, wizards can shape objects or create things, but there are five exceptions. You must remember these five exceptions."
"Firstly, shapeshifting cannot conjure food out of thin air..."
Zicomo, who had already mastered the art of transformation, appeared to be listening attentively to the lesson, but in reality, he was using his mind to control the plants to fight the zombies.
Zicomo's attention was not drawn back from the game until the little witch asked him for advice.
"Cousin, I can now turn a match into a needle, but why is it still made of wood?"
"Imagine and believe, Hermione. Magic is a very subjective thing. You need to have a rich enough imagination, construct the objects in your mind in a three-dimensional way, and firmly believe that you can do it."
"Think carefully about what the needle looks like, its shape, color, and material, and then wave your wand without hesitation."
After listening to Zicomo's instructions, Hermione tried again and immediately turned the wooden needle into an iron one.
Professor McGonagall happened to pass by and saw that Hermione had successfully transformed, so she promptly added five points to Gryffindor's score.
“Mr. Granger, I just heard your theory, and you have accurately grasped the key points of Transfiguration. Could you demonstrate your Transfiguration to me?”
Upon hearing this, Zicomo waved his wand, turning the match into a needle while simultaneously carving an oriental dragon on it.
"A truly brilliant Transfiguration, Mr. Granger! Five points for Gryffindor." Professor McGonagall's delight was barely concealed.
Because Snape favored Slytherin and gave his own house extra points every day, Slytherin had won the House Cup for several years in a row.
She had considered adding more points to her college, but these little lions would cause trouble every now and then, and the points she added weren't enough to cover the deductions.
Now that she has two excellent young wizards to rack up points, she sees hope in winning the Academy Cup.
If Zicomo knew what Professor McGonagall was thinking, he would definitely tell her she was overthinking it.
With Harry in Gryffindor, the credits they earn might not even be enough to cover Snape's deductions.
Hermione continued to practice Transfiguration, and gradually the needles in her hands began to have more patterns.
Zicomo, on the other hand, continued playing his game.
Professor McGonagall noticed his listless expression and didn't bother him.
After all, he understood everything taught in class; let him do whatever he wants. Geniuses always get some advantages.
Chapter Seventeen: Life at Hogwarts, Potions Class
The young wizards' first lesson ended quickly, and Hermione said the class experience was excellent, especially when she didn't understand something, her cousin could answer any question for her.
Our two gentlemen, Harry and Ron, didn't have a very interesting first day at school.
First, she overslept and rushed to class without even having breakfast, only to get lost on the way and still be late. Then she got a scolding from Professor McGonagall, and in the Transfiguration class, she waved her wand for ages but the match didn't react.
It's fair to say that his life experience was extremely poor.
"Professor McGonagall is terrifying. I feel like I can't breathe when I'm around her," Ron complained.
"Who told you to get up so late and be late?" Zicomo rolled his eyes.
Ron: "That's because nobody wakes us up."
Hermione: "Hmm, but I heard Seamus say he called you."
Ron exclaimed in surprise, "So it wasn't a dream!"
Harry chimed in, "Those stairs kept changing, we got lost. It took us ages to find our way to the classroom. If we hadn't gotten lost, we wouldn't have been late."
Upon hearing the word "lost," Hermione instinctively looked at Zicomo.
Zicomo noticed Hermione's gaze and glared at her, signaling her not to tell anyone that he was terrible with directions.
Hermione wrinkled her nose, made a face at him, and didn't say whether she agreed or not.
“I remember the school should have sent out a staircase change schedule, didn’t you guys see it?” Hermione asked.
Harry and Ron both shook their heads.
Zicomo could only say they deserved it; even though he had no sense of direction, he still went to see it. And he even memorized the patterns.
Even so, he still got lost. It can only be attributed to his own shortcomings.
…………
And so began life at Hogwarts.
