All the prisoners stared in astonishment at the crazed man. They had all witnessed Li Lin's impressive feat of casting the Unforgivable Curse without a staff, and now Sirius Black dared to grab his wrist and roar.
As expected of the Black family, they're all incredibly eccentric.
"You survived, so why can't Peter?" Li Lin laughed heartlessly.
Sirius gritted his teeth and clenched his fists, his nails digging deep into his flesh, just like the male protagonist in a wish-fulfillment novel.
"Fighting Power, Level Three!" Li Lin said sarcastically from the side.
"Yes, yes... I survived, so why couldn't that bastard survive?" Sirius seemed to have lost his spine, collapsing weakly to the ground and letting out a low, bitter laugh.
“Yeah, Peter Pettigrew’s Animagus form is much better for hiding than yours. He’s still living as a pet at the Weasleys’ house right now.” Li Lin casually dropped another bombshell. “If I remember correctly, the Weasleys’ youngest son is the same age as Harry. They should be receiving their Hogwarts acceptance letters next year, right?”
Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew are both unregistered, illegal Animagus. Sirius Black's Animagus form is a large black dog, while Peter Pettigrew's Animagus form is a rat.
The Weasley family is one of the few pure-blood families that have survived to this day. They have a very good relationship with half-blood wizards. Although they are not wealthy, they are very large.
If Peter Pettigrew had lived in the Weasleys' house as a domesticated mouse...
Li Lin stared at Sirius's face, which was contorted with horror, and couldn't help but laugh.
"Think about it, all the Weasleys will be sorted into Gryffindor—and so will Harry. He'll definitely be sorted into Gryffindor like his father James... As everyone knows, new students can bring a pet to Hogwarts."
"So, so..." Sirius could barely stop his hands from trembling. He gripped his thighs tightly, feeling like he was about to suffocate.
James and Lily sacrificed themselves to protect their child, all because James mistakenly trusted Peter Pettigrew.
That cowardly and timid henchman, that "wormtail," has now followed Voldemort!
What would happen if he were to go through the Weasleys' house and meet Harry Potter? He would surely kill Harry again, and he would be stuck in jail watching it all unfold.
Sirius Black instantly scrambled to his feet and went to Li Lin: "What else do you know? Please tell me everything!"
An unpleasant odor approached from afar.
Li Lin's expression changed drastically. He slapped Sirius on the forehead, then rubbed him vigorously with a bed sheet several times because of his greasiness.
"What else do you want me to say?" Li Lin stared coldly at Sirius Black with his dark eyes. "You don't think I have an obligation to babysit Harry Potter, do you?"
"But, but..." Sirius stammered, "He defeated Voldemort—"
"You mean Harry Potter was born with the Elder Wand in his mouth, and when Voldemort came along, he stabbed the wand up his nose and sent the booger into his brain, killing Voldemort that way?"
Li Lin's ruthless and shameless吐槽 (tu cao, a form of online commentary/criticism) left Sirius speechless.
"What truly defeated Voldemort was Lily Evans's negative protective charm, which reflected Voldemort's killing curse. This protective charm only works when..."
Li Lin suddenly remembered that he was surrounded by Death Eaters, so he kept quiet.
The Death Eaters who were eavesdropping nearby were furious at Li Lin's sudden eunuch-like behavior, but they couldn't do anything about it.
Sirius Black realized what was happening and glared angrily at the Death Eaters.
"So, as long as we get rid of that bastard Peter, Harry will be safe."
Having set this goal in mind, Sirius Black finally calmed down for the time being. His eyes seemed to have been rekindled with fire, and it was clear that the idea of protecting Harry and getting rid of Peter Pettigrew had become his obsession.
Sirius Black quietly approached Li Lin, lowering his voice.
He looked like a member of the underground Communist Party who was making contact with someone.
A strange odor wafted from him, like the smell of underwear and socks that hadn't been washed for years and were fermenting together.
“Mr. Aatrox, let’s break out of prison.”
Li Lin didn't slap him this time; he didn't want to wipe his hands with the bed sheet anymore.
"I'm happy. Tell me more."
Sirius was delighted to see that Li Lin did not directly oppose his idea.
After all, in his eyes, Li Lin was undoubtedly the most powerful wizard in the area, and although his behavior was somewhat erratic, he still held goodwill towards Harry Potter and Dumbledore. More importantly, Li Lin had recently beaten up his cousin, Bellatrix, the leader of the Death Eaters.
As the saying goes, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
With Li Lin's help, the chances of escaping Azkaban will definitely increase significantly.
80. Inside and outside the story
Sirius was full of confidence.
“This method mainly relies on Animagus. A wizard like you must know about Animagus. It is a high level of transfiguration, and the process of creating it is quite complicated.”
Sirius Black didn't say anything upon seeing Li Lin, and continued his story.
“Those damned black-robed creatures can only accurately identify human emotions, and they are not sensitive to animals, whose emotions and thoughts are chaotic. Fortunately, my Animagus is a black dog. Of course, a wizard like you can just walk out without any problem.”
The only permanent jailers in Azkaban are Dementors, and given how ruthless Li Lin was in dealing with Dementors before, the Dementors would probably have to go around him.
Sirius thought his plan was quite reliable, but he didn't expect Li Lin to suddenly sneer.
"That's it?"
Li Lin narrowed his dark eyes slightly and looked around. All the prisoners who met his gaze unconsciously lowered their heads, turned away, and held their breath.
The most unruly Bellatrix huddled in the corner, not daring to even peek out.
Li Lin smiled.
"We can't let these bastards get away with this, can we? Every single one of them has blood on their hands. What if one day they receive Voldemort's summons and escape Azkaban?"
"Impossible, absolutely impossible!" Sirius instinctively retorted, then suddenly realized he was being too absolute. "Didn't they say Voldemort is dead..."
"You believe that? Besides, I never said Tom sent it. Everyone knows that people named Tom are particularly tough. I suggest Harry change his name to Jerry to bring bad luck to him."
Sirius Black changed the subject: "So you want to...?"
Li Lin gave a thumbs-up and turned it downwards: "Blow this place up, and let this wizard prison, along with all the criminals, rest in peace in the North Sea."
"Only in this way can our escape be proven without any evidence."
Sirius shuddered. He realized that Li Lin's smiling words were even more terrifying.
"To the world, you were a living prisoner in Azkaban, while Peter Pettigrew was a dead hero in the shadows; so when Azkaban is destroyed, you will become a complete ghost, and who will remember you except your old friends at Hogwarts?"
"You're just a ghost, and so am I, of course."
Li Lin sat on the bed, his fingers interlaced.
"Speaking of which, haven't you ever wondered why Peter Pettigrew turned out the way he is today? You know, he was sorted into the prestigious Gryffindor after all... Did the Sorting Hat predict that he would chop off his fingers and arms?"
Sirius was stunned.
Yes, how could the Sorting Hat possibly make a mistake?
Was it because Peter Pettigrew had no redeeming qualities that he was sorted into Gryffindor? If so, he should have gone to Hufflepuff.
Moreover, Peter Pettigrew's lack of excellence was only relative to the rest of the "Raiders." As the saying goes, "one is influenced by one's company," and he was even influenced to develop into an Animagus.
In that era, no one could compare to the brilliant and wealthy James Potter. The only one who could rival him was Sirius Black, who was equally handsome and from a distinguished family.
They are exceptionally intelligent and outstanding, excelling in both academics and Quidditch, thus garnering a large following.
Within the small group of "The Marauders," James Potter and Sirius Black were undoubtedly the leaders, which is why their friendship was so deep. When the Potters needed someone to act as the Keeper of the Secret of the Loyal Charm, they immediately thought of Sirius, and even made him Harry's godfather.
They would joke around with Remus Lupin, who could turn into a werewolf under the full moon, and their relationship was just as good, though not as close.
But what about Peter Pettigrew? Everyone knows he's just a sidekick, a little guy overshadowed by the brilliance of James and Sirius, just an insignificant Wormtail.
Anyone could boss him around and treat him with disrespect. During his time at Hogwarts, Peter's adoration for James bordered on obsequiousness. Even when James and Peter were bullying Snape together, Peter just stood by and grinned foolishly, while James bluntly stated:
"How could you be so stupid? Insect tail."
Of the four "Raiders," without Jaime and Sirius, any one of Lupin would cease to exist; only Wormtail is a dispensable addition.
Even if he disappears, I won't feel bad.
Peter Pettigrew went from simply worshipping James, to fawning over them, and then to fearing them... He became a scoundrel who feared power and followed it. Who knows if he felt any pleasure in revenge or resentment when he tipped off Voldemort?
A story is just a story; the complexity and malice of the human heart far surpasses the Unforgivable Curse.
"Aren't you just another Azkaban? The Dementors here have twisted the prisoners' wills; you've driven a Gryffindor to the point of becoming a monster."
Li Lin closed his eyes, refusing to look at the stunned Sirius.
“I’m not defending anything Peter Pettigrew did. I’m saying this because I was once just like him, suffering from the teasing and bullying of classmates and teachers. At least Peter Pettigrew had his mother, didn’t he?”
He opened his eyes, his dark pupils filled with weariness and reminiscence.
"Then why..." Sirius asked instinctively.
“The difference between me and him is that I’m insane,” Li Lin replied. “When I realized all this, I killed them all.”
Sirius shivered.
As Li Lin spoke, a smile remained on his face. He pointed to his temple and said, "I was only fourteen years old at the time. After killing those classmates, I realized that if their parents came looking for me, it would definitely be bad for me, so..."
"So—" Sirius felt a spasm in his chest and abdomen.
“Yes, I went to their house and stabbed their parents to death one by one. The voices in my head taught me a lot of skills.” Li Lin nodded. “As for why I wasn’t sentenced immediately, it was because the law wasn’t perfect at the time. So even after I turned myself in, it would take several years before I could be sentenced to death.”
At this moment, the two controlled Ministry of Magic strikers came down the stairs and quickly came to Li Lin's side, telling him what had happened up there.
"What a coincidence!" Li Lin clapped his hands happily. "I have good news for you. The Ministry of Magic has issued a pardon."
"Really?" Sirius exclaimed excitedly.
