More importantly, whether as a detective or an assassin, Jiang Hang felt he couldn't get over it if his choice of the former led to the other person's death.
After pondering for a while, Jiang Hang suddenly had an exceptionally bold idea.
He looked at Masami Hirota and laid his cards on the table: "If I remember correctly, aren't the main members of that organization all codenamed after alcoholic beverages?"
His words caused both Masami Hirota and Conan to let out a soft gasp almost simultaneously.
However, Conan quickly concealed his surprise, but the look in his eyes as he looked at Jiang Hang became particularly strange.
He knew that the person who turned him into this state was codenamed "Gin" and "Vodka," but he didn't expect that the other party's organization seemed to use the names of alcoholic beverages as codenames.
But how did Jiang Hang know this?
Masami Hirota's eyes widened in disbelief, and she took a few steps back: "You... how did you know? Are you also...?"
"Of course not. I have absolutely no connection to that winery. I just happened to hear rumors about this organization from my family..."
Jiang Hang opened his box and gave instructions to Conan and Hirota Masami.
"Go and decorate this house, preferably make it look like a murder scene that a normal person would hardly discover."
As he said this, Jiang Hang looked at the contents of his box, wiggled his fingers, and then spoke to Hirota Masami, who was still in a daze, with an extremely serious expression.
"Hirota Masami, do you want to live?"
Chapter 68: Author's Note on Launching the Book~
It will be available for purchase tomorrow, and updates will still be at noon.
When I uploaded this book on February 7th, it took me five seconds to come up with this corny title. I never imagined that so many people would be reading it now.
Ten days ago, I took this book, which had reached 80,000 words and had not yet been signed, and had just over 1900 favorites, to an editor to sign a contract. At that time, I did not expect that the 1900 favorites would become 50,000+ in just ten days, and that it would be available for sale tomorrow.
This situation really feels like a dream.
Since last week, I've been thinking about how to write the sequel to keep readers engaged, even while trying to sleep. It's kept me up at night for the past few days. (Warning from the balding author)
Ahem, let's stop here and talk about the book.
The reason this book came about is quite simple: I stayed at home for more than ten days, and out of boredom, I played some Assassin's Creed Odyssey and watched a few episodes of Detective Conan, so I started writing.
I also added Shirobako to the list because I happened to see news about the Shirobako movie.
Ultimately, this led to the novel becoming what it is today—Yuno Kiharu was an accident. I didn't originally intend to write about her; I was just using her as a reference. Later, as I was writing, "I had a new idea," and that's how it turned out.
But don't worry, all the characters in the book will grow gradually. Those who have a good relationship with the protagonist in my book will become pillars of their respective industries in the future.
In short, I don't feel there's much to say about this book, so I'll just explain a few issues.
①Q: Who is the female lead? Is it a single female lead or multiple female leads?
A: I don't know. I haven't considered the female lead issue since I started writing this book. As you can see, I haven't described any scenes where Yoshino Koharu and Shizuka Sakaki have feelings for the protagonist. After all, they've only known each other for less than a month. Compared to love at first sight, I prefer the feeling of things developing naturally.
Moreover, it's too early to talk about the female lead for the current protagonist.
However, we can currently help you eliminate some characters who are unlikely to become the female lead.
The Miyano sisters are not the main characters, nor is Ayasato Chihiro. At least three of the five members of the Shirobako group can be ruled out, and I can't say for sure about any more than that right now.
②Q: This book has so few assassin elements, why did you choose this title?
A: Because I came up with this title in five seconds. I didn't think about it that much when I was writing it. And in my personal opinion, when Assassin's Creed is put together, Creed is more important.
Especially in this world full of famous detectives, the protagonist should keep a low profile and develop his abilities. Otherwise, he might kill someone one day and be caught red-handed by some detective the next. The protagonist doesn't want to become the enemy of the world.
③Q: What other anime characters will appear in the future?
A: I only write what's suitable, like "Saekano: Oregairu". I feel like there are too many books written on this topic, and everyone has seen all the clichés. I've thought about it for a while but haven't found a suitable angle yet, so I've simply stopped writing.
However, it's fine to mention certain characters, or those whose parents are police officers, when they interact with the protagonist.
④Q: The specific character settings of the protagonist, Hawkeye.
A: Most ordinary people and objects are grayish-white, blue represents various clues, important items are gold, and important plot characters are red. Other colors may appear later—I know many people will complain that red is the enemy's color, but for the assassin system, those important plot characters are also important "assassination targets." Of course, now that the assassin system has been transformed into a detective system, you don't need to worry about these details anymore.
⑤Q: Will Watch Dogs and Agent 47's skills be added? What about Type-Moon's abilities and Noble Phantasms?
A: They will have the skills of Watch Dogs and The Bald Killer, but the protagonist's skills are currently saturated, so they won't be joining anytime soon.
The Type-Moon series will choose some useful passive skills, but as for Noble Phantasms, they are somewhat unconventional for this world and are things that will not be written until the end of this book.
⑥Q: How long will this book be? Will it be an infinite flow novel?
A: This book shouldn't be too long. In my opinion, I'll stretch Conan's timeline to 1-3 years and then choose suitable cases to include. In short, I should finish Conan's storyline before Ran and the others graduate from high school.
So the main storyline will be pretty much over by then. Any further developments will be in the side stories. If readers want more, there might be a few hundred thousand more words dedicated to the protagonist solving cases while also exploring anime and games, but that's a long way off. (P.S. If the protagonist develops a romantic relationship, that will likely happen after the main storyline concludes.)
In short, I will not write an infinite flow novel.
⑦Q: Why haven't you opened a bounty for more updates even though you've already published it?
A: Because I type very slowly, I haven't even written a few chapters yet. 16 words in 20 days? Please forgive me, guys.
I only have three chapters saved up right now. In short, I will try to start with six chapters on the first day after the book is published, and then I will update more than three chapters every day.
I'm genuinely worried that I won't be able to pay back the bounty. It would be very embarrassing if I couldn't fulfill the bounty and then reneged on it. So, in order to live up to the votes you all cast for me, I'm not going to offer any bounties.
However, if the first subscription reaches n thousand tomorrow, I will add n+1 chapters. I think I can manage to do this kind of extra chapter if I try hard.
For example, if I get 5000 first subscriptions, I will work extra hard to add 6 more chapters in the following days on top of the stable daily updates, and so on.
Ahem, I'll stop here for now. Anyway, it will be available for purchase at noon tomorrow. I'll release three chapters first, and then release as many as I can after that.
Gentlemen, remember to come and have fun!
Chapter 69: Chapter 68: Disguise (Please subscribe to the first issue!)
Without much hesitation, Masami Hirota nodded.
She knew the Black Organization's style, but she still held onto a sliver of hope.
"But set up... a murder scene?" Hirota Masami hadn't quite grasped what Jiang Hang had just said. "You mean set up a murder scene for me?"
“No,” Jiang Hang shook his finger at the other person, then pointed to himself, then to the other person, “it’s the scene of ‘I’ll kill you’.”
He searched his box for suitable items while continuing to say to the other person, "You should know the style of that organization, the distillery. If you're not dead, they won't give up hunting you down and hand you over to the police. Your fate is basically sealed."
Although Jiang Hang is a positive detective who calls the police all the time, when it comes to distilleries, the police in this world are really not reliable enough.
"Of course, I don't know the real name of your organization. 'Distillery' is just a name I personally use."
"In short, as detectives, it is our job to bring the truth to light, but in the meantime, you have to keep living. So, in order for you to live long enough to be put on trial, you must die here, and die by my hand."
As he said this, Jiang Hang picked up some ointment and started applying it to his face. In the blink of an eye, Jiang Hang appeared to be a completely different person in the eyes of Hirota Masami and Conan.
If Jiang Hang was a young Asian man in his early twenties just now, then in Hirota Masami's eyes, he had now become a middle-aged Caucasian man in his thirties with a stubble beard.
"What is this...?" Masami Hirota had never seen such incredible disguise techniques before, and couldn't help but gasp.
Conan is a bit better off; his mother, Yukiko Kudo, possesses similar disguise skills, and he now understands what Jiang Hang is about to do.
Without Jiang Hang saying anything more, he had already started thinking about how to deceive the people in that organization.
Jiang Hang might know more about the Black Organization, a fact that Conan also remembered.
After hesitating for a while, Hirota Masami seemed to have thought of something and suddenly became determined, asking Jiang Hang what she should do.
“Give me some of your blood,” Jiang Hang glanced at the other person again. “Of course, not much, just enough within the normal range, which is also for better disguise.”
While Hirota Masami was still in shock, Jiang Hang continued, "Also, tell me everything about yourself, from why you joined the brewery, all the details of this mission, and if there are any codes or passwords, tell me everything... Of course, it would be best to keep it brief, as time is a precious thing."
"All...?" Hirota Masami looked at Jiang Hang, whose hands were still moving as if he was doing something, and honestly told him everything.
When Jiang Hang heard Hirota Masami say that her real name was not Hirota Masami, but Miyano Akemi, Jiang Hang paused for a moment.
Is it really such a coincidence?
To be honest, he didn't recognize the name Akemi Miyano, but he did know that Ai Haibara's real name was Shiho Miyano.
He also knew that the other party had taken the same poison Conan had taken when he resisted the Black Organization because of his sister's death, and his body shrunk back to Ai Haibara.
If he's not mistaken, this Miyano Akemi is most likely Ai Haibara's older sister.
Sure enough, during Miyano Akemi's subsequent explanation, he heard about his younger sister, Miyano Shiho, which confirmed Jiang Hang's guess.
After getting a general understanding of the other party's situation, Jiang Hang had a better grasp of the situation.
He planned to give himself a double disguise in order to mislead Gin as much as possible.
The inner layer is a Caucasian face sculpted by Jiang Hang based on E's face from Assassin's Creed 2. Here, Jiang Hang used more sophisticated disguise techniques to ensure that his true identity would not be revealed.
Even Conan couldn't find any flaws in this layer of disguise.
And the outer layer, of course, belongs to Akemi Miyano.
Miyano Akemi's height isn't too short, and if Jiang Hang uses the collarbone technique, he can barely disguise his physique to be about the same as hers.
Jiang Hang found a set of clothes belonging to Akemi Miyano in her closet and changed into them, thus completely transforming into Akemi Miyano.
Of course, given the limited time, and the fact that this disguise of Miyano Akemi was deliberately made for the sake of the brewery, it didn't matter that it was a little rough around the edges. In fact, Jiang Hang even deliberately left a few flaws.
If the distillery still can't find out, then he'll have to reassess the distillery's capabilities.
After Jiang Hang finished disguising himself, even Miyano Akemi couldn't help but exclaim in amazement.
She clearly saw that the other party had put up two different disguises, but now that she was standing in front of Jiang Hang, she wouldn't have been able to find the flaw at all if Jiang Hang hadn't pointed it out himself.
Even their voices and intonations are almost identical.
The biggest difference is the hair. Although Jiang Hang was able to transform himself into the appearance of Miyano Akemi in a hurry, he didn't have many wigs prepared, so he could only make do with what he had.
Moreover, Jiang Hang intended to leave the other party with some flaws that could reveal his disguise, so this was not a big deal.
Conan was quite amazed to see that Jiang Hang had put on two layers of disguise on his face.
His disguise skills are probably even more advanced than his mother's. More importantly, his mother doesn't have such amazing voice-changing skills.
Where did the opponent learn this move from?
Conan felt that Jiang Hang was becoming more and more unpredictable.
Jiang Hang then used the sharp blade on his sword staff to cut a wound on Miyano Akemi's arm, took some of her blood, and then handed the rest to Conan so that he could continue arranging the scene.
Finally, he sprinkled some powder on the other person's wound to stop the bleeding and remove the fishy smell of blood from the other person's arm, and then wrapped the other person's arm with a bandage.
