"Harvey, you were absolutely mesmerizing just now!"
Harvey was quite pleased with Wanda's girlish admiration for the strong.
“I’ll show you a more formidable side tonight, but we need to move first,” Harvey joked, continuing:
"After all, S.H.I.E.L.D. has already found this place. If we stay here, we'll definitely attract a lot of trouble."
"So it's best to move sooner rather than later."
Wanda nodded obediently and asked, "So, where do we go next?"
"To a manor in upstate New York."
Harvey opened a portal, indicating that the new home was on the other side.
Wanda didn't hesitate and went straight in.
"Go to the bedroom and wait for me. I need to get some important valuables," Harvey instructed before closing the portal.
Moving is no easy task.
Harvey had to personally move all the important alchemical tools, potion ingredients, plant samples, and other items at the experimental base.
Many of Harvey's personal belongings, such as sofas, chairs, and beds, still need to be removed from the villa.
"Tsk tsk, moving is quite a big project when you think about it. Let's get started as soon as possible."
Let's start with the most important experimental base.
Harvey cast a levitation spell, taking all the bottles and jars containing the potion ingredients with him.
Then there's the leather sofa, rocking chair, magic portrait, and antique wall clock in the living room...
Take everything that catches my eye.
By the time they had almost emptied the entire villa, it was already past 1 a.m.
"There's one last step: cleaning up the battlefield."
Harvey first confirmed that the Muggle Expulsion Curse was still in effect, then waved his wand and cast the Fiendfyre spell to cremate all the corpses in the villa garden and near the gate.
Finally, he used the skill "Restore to Original State" to completely repair all the damage caused by tonight's fierce battle.
"Finally done, phew!"
After all that fuss, the fierce battles, and the move, Harvey was exhausted.
With the unconscious Hermione in tow, Harvey crossed the portal to a private estate located in Binghamton County, up north of New York.
Chapter 45 Do your best and obey fate
The next morning, the sky was overcast and a light drizzle was falling.
The Potomac River in Washington, D.C., has a rapid current upstream, with its churning waters constantly flowing into Lake Theodore Roosevelt downstream.
In the center of the lake, there is a miniature artificial island, upon which stands a uniquely styled tri-winged building.
This is the Strategic Homeland Defense, Attack and Logistics Agency, also known as the global headquarters of S.H.I.E.L.D.
at this time.
Inside the conference room on the 61st floor of the Tri-Wing Building.
Nick Fury's mood was as bad as the weather outside.
He is giving a briefing to the representatives of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council on the detailed events of yesterday's Battle of New York.
Anthropomorphic holographic projections of five council representatives sat around the conference table, questioning in stern tones:
"Director Fury, has S.H.I.E.L.D. found the mastermind behind yesterday's alien invasion?"
Nick Fury replied expressionlessly, "Of course, but he's not from Earth. Loki has already been taken back to Asgard by Thor..."
He spoke in a very cold tone because it was these five council representatives who had bypassed him yesterday and issued the order to launch the nuclear missile.
Nick Fury gets a liver ache whenever he thinks about it.
It was so close; everything was ruined by those five terrible teammates!
"Are you really going to let the war criminals who caused tens of thousands of civilian casualties go so easily?"
"I just didn't stop Thor from taking Loki away, but considering you almost killed millions of humans, I don't think you have the right to blame me!"
The council representatives remained silent for a moment.
"What about the Tesseract?"
Just as Nick Fury was about to reply, his gaze suddenly shifted to the doorway of the conference room behind him.
He quickened his pace and replied, "The Tesseract was also taken back to Asgard by Thor. Such a treasure is beyond the reach of humans."
"Now I have to clean up the mess from this war, and I will give a detailed written report in a few days."
The online meeting has ended.
The five council representatives clearly wanted to ask more questions, but Nick Fury went offline, and their holographic projections could only disappear unwillingly.
"Agent Hill, how is Stark's injury?"
Hill, a Level 9 agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., dressed in a black combat suit, hurried into the conference room as she replied:
"His injuries are not serious. Apart from the memory confusion caused by a mild concussion, he is fine."
"After treatment, he has regained consciousness, but he seems to have some psychological issues."
"The medical staff reported that he stared at the ceiling all night without sleeping and kept saying that he wanted to be discharged early so he could go home and study how to upgrade his Iron Man armor."
"According to the initial diagnosis of the psychologist, Stark is likely suffering from mild anxiety disorder."
Nick Fury listened with a grave expression. Iron Man was now a vital force in the Avengers, and he absolutely could not afford to have anything happen to him.
"Let a psychologist find a way to comfort him."
Hill nodded: "I will."
Nick Fury then asked, "By the way, did the scientists sent to that 'inaccessible' villa find anything?"
Hill shook his head. "I'm sorry, we can't use scientific analysis magic at the moment."
Although Nick Fury had expected this, he still looked slightly disappointed.
"Let's do our best and leave the rest to fate. Send more scientists, and hopefully we can find a solution."
"Otherwise, we can't even get close to the enemy, so how can we fight against so-called mages?"
Agent Hill's expression was somewhat wistful.
"The world is getting more and more chaotic. Gods, sorcerers, aliens, all sorts of monsters and demons are popping up."
"Sometimes, I can't even imagine how we're supposed to fight these... weirdos?"
Hill couldn't think of a better adjective.
She could only describe the mage who had easily defeated the three Avengers yesterday as an oddball.
Nick Fury said with a grave expression, "We need more manpower, not just to fill the agent shortages in the field operations department."
"We need powerful members like Dr. Banner or Stark to join the Avengers."
Hill asked curiously, "Chief, you're not thinking of recruiting street heroes in New York, are you?"
Nick Fury glanced at Agent Hill: "Do you have a better suggestion?"
Hill thought for a moment and said, "I'm not good at being a lobbyist, so let Sharon Carter do this task."
Nick Fury nodded slowly. "Agent 13? That's a good suggestion. By the way, is there anything else?"
Agent Hill handed over the documents he was holding.
"This is the preliminary list of 132 people from the field department who have been confirmed dead. We need to sign off on the issuance of a compensation payment."
Nick Fury frowned as he looked at the personnel list.
"A total of 132 elite agents were killed without a trace. This should be the first time in many years that S.H.I.E.L.D. has suffered such heavy casualties in a short period of time."
Agent Hill remained silent, a hint of regret in his eyes.
As Nick Fury signed the document, he asked, "Any promising candidates in the latest batch of agent training camps?"
Agent Hill thought for a moment: "There's an Asian newcomer named Jimmy Wu who's not bad."
Nick Fury handed the signed document back to Hill and instructed, "Then test this newcomer's courage and send him to Europe to talk to the vampire high command."
"These despicable vampires have taken advantage of the chaos caused by the alien invasion to secretly carry out massacres in a small town on the European border."
"We need to send someone to warn the vampires to prevent further damage."
Agent Hill took the document and indicated that he understood.
"I believe this newcomer will not disappoint."
Nick Fury waved his hand, indicating that Agent Hill could go back to work.
Nick Fury hadn't even gotten up by the time his trusted aide left the meeting room.
"Dong dong!"
Looking exhausted, Natasha knocked on the door and quickly entered the conference room.
"I hope you can bring me good news, lucky Agent Romanov."
Nick Fury leaned back in his chair, looking at the only lucky survivor who had emerged from the collapsed rubble.
Natasha placed a document on the conference table.
"Sir, this is all the information I've gathered about those two mages. You can take your time looking through it... Ah~ yawn~"
After she finished speaking, she yawned.
Seeing that Natasha was severely sleep-deprived, Nick Fury waved his hand, "Go back and rest first, I'll look at this data later."
Upon hearing this, Natasha turned and left without hesitation.
I didn't sleep for two days and two nights, first dealing with an unprecedented alien invasion war.
Then they have to go and save Captain America.
