Chapter 25 Showdown
"Don't follow me, I have no interest in fighting you!" Abu said with an unfriendly expression after hearing Jiang Lai's words.
“Your name is Abu, full name is Butonglin, am I right?” Jiang Lai ignored Abu and spoke directly.
Upon hearing this, Abu's body trembled, and he stared intently at Jiang Lai.
"Don't be nervous. If I'm not mistaken, that bag of yours should contain Master Ma's head, right?" Jiang Lai continued.
"Are you one of hers?" Abu thought to himself after hearing this.
Jiang Lai knew who Abu was talking about: the wife of drug lord Master Ma. Because Master Ma was killed by Abu, who took his head, Abu ordered Du Xiaohe's kidnapping in order to retrieve Master Ma's head and avenge him. He wanted to force Abu to exchange Master Ma's head for her head.
"No, I told you, I just want to fight you, I have no ill intentions towards you!" Jiang Lai said again.
Abu stared coldly at Jiang Lai. After hearing Jiang Lai's words, he didn't say anything more, but instead leaned in and attacked.
In the dark alley, Abu's figure, like an assassin from the abyss, quickly approached Jiang Lai again, turning his fist into a palm, his five fingers together, like a venomous snake attacking Jiang Lai's throat.
Even with his mastery of the Great Perfection Iron Shirt technique, Jiang Lai dared not be careless and try to take the attack head-on. Instead, he quickly dodged away.
Abu moved quickly. Seeing that Jiang Lai had dodged the attack, he transformed his palm into a blade and attacked Jiang Lai's eyes from below.
Abu's moves were ruthless, aiming straight for Jiang Lai's vitals. This forced Jiang Lai to pay more attention to defense, since Abu harbored murderous intent towards him, while he only wanted to test Abu's skills.
As time went on, the fight between the two intensified. They moved swiftly through the alley, exchanging blows and employing a variety of techniques.
Abu was attacking Jiang Lai with all his might, while Jiang Lai focused more on steady defense and counter-attack opportunities.
After a brief exchange of blows, the two simultaneously separated.
Seeing that he couldn't break through Jiang Lai's defenses, Abu's mentality began to change. His moves became more aggressive, and his gaze towards Jiang Lai became even more piercing.
The two exchanged a glance, their minds in perfect unison. The signal to resume the battle struck like a bolt from the blue. Abu leaped up instantly, his palm like a sharp sword, his movements like a nimble snake, aiming for Jiang Lai's heart. The strike was swift and fierce.
Jiang Lai reacted quickly, dodging to the side while simultaneously throwing a punch at Abu's ribs and waist.
Abu dodged Jiang Lai's attack with a side somersault, then changed tactics, attacking Jiang Lai from various angles, using feints and real attacks to constantly test Jiang Lai's reaction and endurance.
Jiang Lai continuously thwarted Abu's attacks while also constantly looking for opportunities to launch counterattacks. The duel became increasingly intense, with both men moving faster and faster.
Abu's attacks were swift and powerful, each strike like a ruthless lightning bolt, while Jiang Lai's moves were as smooth as a gentle breeze and flowing water, flawless.
In the darkness, the two figures clashed, moving with lightning speed, one after the other. Abu's moves were skillful and exquisite, while Jiang's moves were expansive and powerful, each move a clash of strength and speed.
After an unknown amount of time, and after a fierce battle, Abu began to show signs of fatigue, his clothes soaked with sweat, while Jiang Lai remained energetic and showed no signs of exhaustion.
After Jiang Lai's body was transformed by the Marrow Cleansing Pill, he gained physical recovery ability far exceeding that of ordinary people, as well as a more enduring combat ability.
Finally, Abu, due to exhaustion, became careless and was knocked to the ground by Jiang Lai's elbow strike.
"Cough...!" The exhaustion and chest pain made Abu cough involuntarily.
Abu lay on the ground, one hand clutching his chest, the other supporting him on the ground, staring intently at Jiang Lai, panting heavily.
Jiang Lai also rested for a while and straightened his clothes. Looking at Abu on the ground, he had a clear understanding of Abu's strength. If he were unarmed, Abu could easily take down dozens or even hundreds of people without any problem.
In fact, if it were a life-or-death battle, Abu would have been defeated by Jiang Lai long ago, because Jiang Lai also realized that although Abu's attacks were fierce, they did not break through his defenses at all.
If Jiang Lai had wanted to, he could have easily withstood two of Abu's attacks and ended the fight long ago. However, he didn't want to end the fight in such a brutal way, so he played with Abu a little longer.
Abu himself realized that he was no match for the person in front of him, and couldn't help but sigh deeply.
“You win, I’m no match for you!” Abu said, lying on the ground and looking at Jiang.
He took a slight breath and then asked, "What exactly do you want?"
"Alright, no need to be so wary. I'll say it again, I mean you no harm!" Jiang Lai said, looking at Abu.
Although Abu knew he couldn't beat Jiang, he was actually keeping an eye on the location of his briefcase and remaining vigilant against Jiang's approach, while also constantly recovering his strength.
“Originally, I followed you out of curiosity, but now I have a new idea!” Jiang Lai said to Abu with a smile, looking thoughtful, like an old fox.
Jiang Lai's words immediately heightened Abu's vigilance; he was certain he didn't recognize the person in front of him.
"Oh, right, shouldn't you be on an outlying island? Why are you in Mong Kok?" Jiang Lai asked, somewhat puzzled. He remembered that Abu seemed to be stranded on an outlying island.
Abu took a deep breath and slowly exhaled. He had finally recovered from the elbow strike Jiang Lai had delivered and slowly stood up.
He realized that the person in front of him didn't seem to be someone she had sent, and didn't look like a policeman either.
Hearing Jiang Lai's question, Abu coldly replied, "I originally planned to leave Hong Kong, but now I'm going to save someone!"
Jiang Lai recalled the plot; it seemed that the policewoman had been kidnapped and Abu was going to rescue her.
"Oh, so you're currently wanted by both the police and the underworld, right?" Jiang Lai asked matter-of-factly, recalling the plot.
Abu was speechless. He had no idea what this person in front of him did or how he knew so much about him, but he still nodded to Jiang Lai.
"Hey, what's your name?" Abu asked, noticing that Jiang Lai seemed a bit distracted.
"Oh, right, I forgot to introduce myself!" Jiang Lai said a little embarrassedly.
Jiang Lai beat up someone, but in the end, Abu didn't even know who had beaten him!
"My name is Jiang Lai, you can call me A Lai, or of course, you can call me Brother Lai!" Jiang Lai said to Abu with a smile.
Ah Lai?
"Alright, I've remembered your name. We've already fought. I have other things to do. Can I go now?" Abu said to Jiang.
"Hey, don't rush me. You're wanted by both the police and the underworld. Where can you possibly go?"
After a pause, Jiang Lai continued:
"Besides, even if we're going to rescue someone, we need to plan carefully. Are we just going to recklessly charge in alone?"
"I have to go!" Abu said in a cold but firm tone.
"Of course, I didn't say I'd stop you from saving people, but you can plan it out properly!" Jiang Lai agreed.
Jiang Lai began to patiently persuade Abu; whether he could win Abu over depended on this move.
Chapter 26 Deception
Jiang Lai knew that although Abu was an assassin, he was loyal and righteous, and even if he killed Master Ma, it was to repay a debt of gratitude.
A few years ago, Abu was injured while on a mission abroad, but fortunately a volunteer nurse came to his aid and saved his life.
However, not long after, the nurse was murdered by a gang leader, who was none other than Master Ma, whose head had been chopped off by Abu.
To repay the nurse's kindness, Abu decided to kill Master Ma to avenge her and use Master Ma's head to pay tribute to his benefactor.
With Abu's strength, killing a big shot with only four henchmen was effortless, and soon Master Ma's head was taken by Abu.
However, when he wanted to leave, he was unexpectedly affected by a typhoon and was left on an outlying island. On the island, Abu used his boldness and wit to deceive everyone and even met a policewoman named Xiaohe whom he admired.
Just after Abu successfully left the outlying island and was preparing to leave Hong Kong, he exposed Ma Ye's head and was discovered, which led to a manhunt by both the police and the underworld.
Moreover, Xiaohe was captured by Madam Ma, who used her to blackmail Abu, demanding that he give her three days to go and rescue her.
Abu began to mingle on the streets of Hong Kong, evading wanted notices from both the police and the underworld, in preparation for rescuing Xiaohe. He was highly skilled in disguise and counter-surveillance, making it difficult for ordinary people to track his whereabouts.
But by sheer coincidence, Jiang Lai discovered it.
Jiang Lai was initially just curious, but now he has another idea: to trick Abu into doing things for him. Given Abu's loyal and righteous character, if Jiang Lai helps him save people, Abu will definitely agree.
Thinking of this, Jiang Lai said to Abu, "Let's go, this is my house nearby. You have nowhere to go right now, so come and sit at my place for a while!"
Although Jiang Lai extended an invitation, Abu did not take any action. Before learning about Jiang Lai's background, Abu remained wary of him.
"Let's go. Don't tell me you can't beat me. If I wanted to harm you, this whole area is full of my men. If I wanted to catch you, you wouldn't be able to escape!" Jiang Lai said helplessly, looking at Abu's wary expression.
With that, Jiang Lai headed towards his home.
After a moment's thought, Abu followed Jiang Lai, but kept a safe distance throughout.
After arriving at Jiang Lai's house, the two sat down.
"You want to go rescue people alone?" Jiang Lai asked.
Abu remained silent and offered no rebuttal.
Seeing Abu's reaction, Jiang Lai had no choice but to continue, "Have you considered that the other side might have prepared an ambush in advance?"
When Abu heard this, he was somewhat dismissive. With his skills, he would dare to go to any place, let alone a gang, or even a more dangerous place.
Hey! This kid, Jiang Lai saw Abu's nonchalant expression and decided to bluff him.
"Have you thought about what would happen if you went and fell into an ambush, and they shot you dead and killed your girlfriend? Wouldn't it have been a completely pointless trip?" Jiang Lai said earnestly to Abu.
"She...she's not my girlfriend!" Abu's face turned red with embarrassment after hearing Jiang Lai's words.
"...Whether she's my girlfriend or not isn't the point!" Jiang Lai's head creased with annoyance upon hearing Abu's words.
Abu scratched his head, looking somewhat shy.
"I know you're good at fighting, so what? If dozens or hundreds of guns are pointed at you, can you dodge them?" Jiang Lai deliberately tried to scare him.
"Then... what should we do?" Abu had already started to imagine the scene; his thoughts were now completely guided by Jiang Lai.
Moreover, Jiang Lai didn't try to scare him. Although gangsters in this era generally don't use guns, that doesn't mean they don't exist.
Even Jiang Lai himself was given a pistol by Thirteen Sister for self-defense, but he didn't need it for the time being and just kept it in his spatial ring.
“You can’t save people by yourself alone, and you’re wanted by the police right now, so asking the police won’t work. You need to find help to save people,” Jiang Lai said to Abu.
“But… I don’t know anyone in Hong Kong, where am I supposed to find help?!” Abu said, a rare look of distress on his face.
“Who said you don’t have any help?” Jiang Lai said, looking at Abu.
"Huh?" Abu was full of doubts; he really couldn't think of anyone who could help him.
“Look at me, what’s my name?” Jiang Lai asked Abu.
"Aren't you called Jiang Lai?" Abu asked, still puzzled, not knowing what Jiang Lai meant by asking that.
"How are my skills?" Jiang Lai continued to ask.
"Very impressive!" Abu said honestly.
“I know your name is Abu, and you know my name is Alai. So, do we call each other acquaintances now?” Jiang Lai continued to guide the conversation.
"Well... I guess it counts!" Abu said after considering for a moment.
“Right, you can ask me for help. Look at me, I’m pretty good at fighting, and I have some influence in Hong Kong. I have people and money, so why don’t you ask me for help?” Jiang Lai asked, feigning doubt.
