Soon, a blood-curdling scream erupted from the bedroom:
"My fur!!!"
Chapter 103 Leonard's Breakdown
In the bedroom of the house Arthur rented at night.
A fluffy little ball of fur lay on the bed, staring at its reflection in the mirror with a look of utter despair, muttering blankly:
"My hair... my hair..."
Arthur, who had finally finished laughing, looked at Arthas and felt both sorry for him and amused.
“Arthas,” he called softly.
The puppy didn't react or answer, only muttering to itself, as if possessed:
"My hair... my hair..."
Arthur suppressed a laugh and waved his hand in front of the puppy's eyes, but there was still no response.
He reached out and poked Arthas's fluffy little head again, and this time the puppy reacted.
It turned its head blankly and glanced at Arthur, then turned its head back and began to mutter.
"My hair... my hair..."
"Okay, okay, stop reading. It's just that its fur color turns into that of a husky. What's the big deal?"
Arthur stroked the puppy from head to toe, and felt that the texture hadn't changed much; it was still just as smooth.
"You make it sound so easy. Look at me now, how am I supposed to face anyone?" Arthas finally stopped nagging and turned around to say angrily.
At this point, the puppy no longer had snow-white fur; some of its fur had been dyed black, and it looked like a husky.
And it's a standard three-spotted husky.
"Pfft!" Arthur couldn't help but burst out laughing when he saw Arthas's new look.
"How dare you gloat!" The puppy was furious that Arthur was still making fun of it.
"Ahem, actually I was just thinking about something happy." Arthur tried to suppress his laughter, but managed to hold it in.
He was afraid that if he kept laughing, the puppy might actually bite him.
"What the hell is so funny? You were laughing at me the whole time." Arthas was already baring his teeth in anger.
"Oh dear, little one, you don't know this, but in some places, black is actually considered more noble than white."
“And your black and white fur is a more noble color than pure black or pure white,” Arthur said, suppressing a laugh as he started spouting nonsense.
"Really?" Arthas muttered as he asked.
"Of course it's true. I'm well-read, I wouldn't lie to you," Arthur said with a straight face.
"I think you're trying to fool me." The little puppy was very clever and didn't believe Arthur's nonsense at all.
It looked at itself in the mirror and became angry again:
"Damn it! If I find out who did this, I'll... Waaah..."
Seeing this, Arthur quickly pinched the puppy's muzzle to prevent it from uttering any vulgar words.
"Are you stupid? How could someone change your fur color like this without us even noticing? We can't afford to mess with them."
"Alright, let me see what's wrong with your hair. Maybe there's still hope."
Arthur reached out and pulled Arthas into his arms. The little guy tried to struggle, but after Arthur flicked his ear, he immediately became obedient.
"Obey, let me see."
Arthur parted the puppy's smooth fur and examined it closely, discovering that the part of its fur that had been dyed black was actually only partially black.
The roots of the hair are still white, just like the hair dye Arthur had in his previous life, and it's reversible.
He felt relieved, reached out and patted Arthas's head, and said with a smile:
"Alright, those black hairs on your body are just dyed black. The roots are still white. Once you cut them off, you'll be back to normal."
"Huh? I don't want to get my fur cut, I don't want to go bald." The puppy started rolling around in Arthur's arms.
"That's up to you. If you don't want to get your fur cut, then you can only stay as a husky. You can choose to be a husky or go bald."
Arthur looked at the canine worm wriggling in his arms and felt a little regretful that he didn't have a camera in his hand.
Otherwise, he would definitely have taken a picture of Arthas looking like this and kept it as a souvenir.
However, although I can't take pictures, I can draw them. Hmm, I'll start drawing after Backlund and then keep the drawing as a treasure... Arthur looked at the puppy who didn't want to accept reality and was still rolling around in his arms, and a sinister smile appeared on his face.
Arthas was completely unaware of this; he neither wanted to end up looking like a husky nor become bald.
So it clung to Arthur's arms, refusing to come out, hoping he would come up with a solution that would satisfy both sides.
"What can I do? Your fur has been dyed black, so you either have to cut it off or leave it. What other choice is there?" Arthur was both amused and exasperated by Arthas's unreasonable behavior.
"I don't care, you have to figure something out, otherwise I won't play with you anymore." Arthas clung to Arthur's arm, determined to stay with him.
"Oh? Why won't you play with me?" Arthur reached out and poked the puppy's soft belly with his finger.
"Hmph! If you don't come up with a solution, I'm running away from home and abandoning you, my stinky master!" Arthas said, swatting away Arthur's groping hand in annoyance.
"Hiss~" Arthur couldn't help but gasp.
"You...you can be so heartless?"
"Hmph, scared now? Hurry up and think of a way, or you'll lose me," the puppy said with a hint of smugness.
"But, are you really going to run away from home looking like this?" Arthur picked up Arthas and made him face the mirror.
Arthas paused for a moment, then his expression changed instantly.
It put on a tearful face, looked back at Arthur with teary eyes, and when hard tactics didn't work, it started to try softer ones:
“Arthur…”
"Okay, okay, I'll think of something for you." Arthur wasn't afraid of being tough, but he was afraid of this kind of cute approach.
"Hehe." The puppy snuggled back into Arthur's arms, looking at him expectantly.
After thinking quietly for a while, Arthur finally came up with a solution that was hardly a solution.
"Little guy, how about this? I have a friend who has some talent in biochemistry. I can have him formulate a medicine to promote hair growth."
"That way, even if you shave all the hair off your body, it will grow back quickly, so you won't have to worry about being bald."
The friend he was referring to was, of course, Frank.
However, Arthur was still somewhat intimidated by Frank's power.
So deep down, he didn't want to take this approach.
Arthas clearly knew who he was referring to, and he took two steps back warily, asking:
"Arthur, this friend you mentioned..."
"That's right, it's Frank."
"Impossible! Absolutely impossible!"
While aboard the Future, Arthas heard many tales of this man's glorious deeds from the crew.
Therefore, it is impossible for him to use the medicine Frank gave him.
"Don't want to use it? Then I really can't help you."
When he spoke with Klein earlier, it appeared to be just the two of them.
In reality, there were probably four people present.
More accurately, it was two people and two gods.
The puppy's current predicament was likely due to the negative impact of Arthur's careless remarks, a misfortune undeserved.
The person behind him wanted to sow discord between the person behind Klein and Arthas became the tool for that discord.
Therefore, if the fur isn't cut off, Arthur cannot restore Arthas to his original state using ordinary methods.
Upon hearing Arthur's words, Alsace was immediately caught in a dilemma.
It now only has two paths: either live with its husky-like fur or cut its fur and use the hair growth serum made by Frank.
The puppy looked at itself in the mirror, hesitated for a long time, and finally made up its mind.
"Well... I'll cut the fur and then try using some medicine to make it grow back."
......
On Sunday morning, at the Tinggen steam train station, a steam train is about to depart.
"Arthur, I'm leaving now. I hope we can meet again in Backlund someday," the poet classmate with dark hair and green eyes said to Arthur.
"Goodbye, Leonard. I hope that when I see you again, you'll be able to stand on your own," Arthur said with a smile.
Today is both the day Leonard heads to Wintershire for Red Gloves training and the day Arthur returns to Backlund.
Having achieved all his objectives in Tingen, Arthur naturally had no need to stay any longer.
Because of the aftermath of the Battle of Tingen, the Night Watchers were quite busy, so after saying goodbye to Leonard, they all hurriedly returned home.
So at this moment, there are only the two of them here.
"Oh, right, Leonard, I went to Klein's house earlier," Arthur said, as if he had suddenly remembered something.
Leonard paused for a moment, but said nothing, just looked at Arthur, waiting for him to continue.
Arthur took a notebook from his suitcase, handed it to Leonard, and said:
“This was given to me by Benson. He said he found it in Klein’s room and couldn’t open it. Now, I’m handing it over to you.”
Leonard held the notebook, remaining silent.
He knew this must be Klein's diary, a relic left behind by his colleague who, like him, had a secret.
Leonard was once very curious about the secrets of Klein, and this diary may contain some clues.
But now, he would rather not have the diary and just hope that Klein could come back to life.
