"Jerry, are you alright? You've been distracted ever since you came back to class. Are you feeling unwell? Should I ask you to take a leave of absence?" Hermione waved her hand in front of Jerry's eyes. Although Hermione hadn't known Jerry for long, she had never seen him like this before.

In the past, Jerry always appeared confident, whether he was teaching Malfoy a lesson or telling them about fighting with the older students. But now, Jerry is frowning and looking worried.

Jerry looked at Hermione, who was concerned about him, and sighed that Hermione was so much better, so innocent, unlike Catherine, whose thoughts were impossible to understand. Jerry was certain that Catherine had ulterior motives towards him.

Jerry smiled and said to Hermione, "I'm fine, Hermione. Let's go to the library together after class!"

"Okay!" Hermione happily agreed after seeing Jerry transform back into the familiar person she knew.

Chapter 19 Soul-Devouring Potion

"Stop right there, Malfoy. I have something to ask you."

At the school corridor entrance, Malfoy, along with Goyle and Crabbe, came out of the Great Hall, just about to cause trouble for Harry, when he heard a disrespectful remark telling him to stop and that he had something to ask him.

How dare they speak to him like that? Young Master Malfoy would never allow such a brilliant student to exist at Hogwarts.

Malfoy was a little annoyed. He turned around and saw Jerry standing by the wall at the corner of the corridor, looking at him expressionlessly.

"Hey Jerry, how are you settling in at Hogwarts? Let me know if you need anything." Malfoy greeted Jerry warmly after a lightning-fast change of expression.

Ignoring Malfoy's change of expression, Jerry gestured for him to send Goyle and Crabbe away before asking, "Do you know Trevor Shackleton?"

Upon hearing Jerry's question, Malfoy breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully, it wasn't someone coming to cause him trouble. After thinking for a moment, he replied, "Yes, I know him. He's a sixth-year Slytherin student from the Shackler family."

"Have you ever heard your father say anything about the Shakel family? Anything is fine with me."

“The Shackle family has no dealings with our Malfoy family, and the family is very mysterious now. Once, I overheard my father talking to someone and heard that the Shackle family has now formed an alliance with several other pure-blood families. Nobody knows exactly what they are going to do, including my father.”

Upon hearing Malfoy's answer, Jerry thought for a moment and then asked, "Do you know Catherine? You mean Catherine Ferris, the fourth-year Slytherin student?"

"How do you know her? Aside from those upperclassmen, Catherine never talks to other students." Malfoy looked at Jerry with some surprise and a strange expression.

Jerry ignored his question and asked again, "Do you know Catherine? Do you know her background?"

Malfoy shook his head: "All I know is that she has a powerful background, with several school board members behind her. As for her origins, I guess only Dumbledore knows, since he's the headmaster. Before I started school, my father told me to find a way to get close to her, preferably to gain her friendship, but..."

Jerry nodded upon hearing Malfoy's words, acknowledging his powerful background and the presence of a private lounge. He asked Malfoy a few more questions but left without obtaining any useful information.

Seeing Jerry leave, Goyle ran over and asked, "Boss, why were you so polite to him?"

Upon hearing Goyle's words, Malfoy flew into a rage and yelled, "Shut up, you idiot! Jerry isn't far away yet! Why didn't you rush over to talk to him when he was here? Besides, do you think the three of us can beat him? Do you want me to end up like that idiot from yesterday?"

"Then let's just forget it?"

"Of course we can't just let this go. We'll talk about Jerry later. Come on, let's go find Potter to cause trouble!"

……

Over the next few days, Jerry's life at Hogwarts returned to normal. No upperclassmen bothered him, and Catherine and Trevor disappeared as if they had never existed.

Without these worries, Jerry lived a happy and fulfilling life every day, attending classes with Hermione, the little witch from Gryffindor, going to the library together, and strolling around the Black Lake together.

Of course, the two would sometimes argue, and Jerry wouldn't give in to her. Needless to say, Jerry always won. Several times, the little witch was almost brought to tears by Jerry, but fortunately, Jerry was very experienced in comforting girls.

The only downside these past few days is that Jerry feels like he can run into Snape anytime, anywhere. He bumps into Snape on his way to class in the morning, while reading in the library, and even when Jerry goes to the bathroom, he sees Snape passing by.

Jerry didn't care. He could just be a good boy for the next few days. Besides, it wouldn't be long before Harry started "making trouble." He didn't believe Snape would still be able to monitor him so intensely then.

8 PM on a weekend evening, at the Hogwarts Library.

A few days of peaceful life made Jerry almost forget that he still had to stay in jail. That damned old bat, he would definitely give him a big gift for Christmas. Potter's shampoo is pretty good, an old brand, trustworthy!

"So you're the student who's here to clean tonight. Just remember, you only need to clean this area. Be careful not to damage the books. Professor Snape instructed us not to use magic. Hurry up!" Mrs. Pince said sternly when she saw Jerry.

Seeing Mrs. Pince watching him from a distance, Jerry had no choice but to obediently start cleaning. Fortunately, the area wasn't large, and the library didn't have much dust, so cleaning was quick.

An hour later, Jerry finished his work.

"Mrs. Pince, I've finished cleaning. Where are you?"

Jerry searched the library but couldn't find Mrs. Pince. Just as he was wondering what was going on, he heard footsteps. He thought it was Mrs. Pince returning, but when he went up, he saw a figure wearing a black robe and a purple headscarf. It was Quirrell.

Jerry was so frightened that he quickly hid behind the bookshelf, not forgetting what was hidden behind Quirrell's hat.

Quirrell didn't spot Jerry; instead, he headed straight for the restricted section deep inside the library.

Seeing the open gates of the forbidden book section, Jerry wanted to go in, but he knew that going in now would be like lighting a lamp in a latrine—a death wish. Jerry was a little curious; what was Quirrell doing in the forbidden book section so late?

Soon after, another series of footsteps approached. Jerry wasn't as reckless as before; he waited a while, and sure enough, a man's voice came soon after: "Quirok, where are you?"

"Keep your voice down!" Quirrell said to another figure as he emerged from the forbidden section.

"Don't worry, Dumbledore isn't at school today. Our men have lured him away."

Quirrell ignored the other man's words and said to him, "Did you bring the goods? Also, could we trade in the Forbidden Forest next time? Hogwarts Castle is too dangerous."

The other party directly rejected Quirrell's request: "No, the transaction can only take place in the Hogwarts library, for reasons your master knows." After saying that, he took a thumb-sized bottle from his jacket pocket and handed it to the other party.

"Is this the Soul-Devouring Potion your organization concocts?" Quirrell asked, staring at the gray potion in the bottle with fascination.

"Of course, but this potion is very precious. It takes the souls of thirteen tormented wizards to make just one small bottle, which is only enough for your master to use once. If you want more, you'll have to trade something for it. And don't forget our cooperation, Bug." With that, he turned and left the library.

Quirrell remained mesmerized by the potion, completely ignoring the other man's curses.

“Quirk, remember, drink it at the most crucial moment!” A hoarse voice came from the back of Quirrell’s head.

"Understood, my master." With that, he left the library.

Chapter 20 Hagrid's Hut

After hearing that there was no movement around him, Jerry cautiously peeked out. He felt like he had just overheard something very important. Who was talking to Quirrell? Jerry remembered the voice. Judging from the voice, the person was probably young and might be a student from Hogwarts. He decided to look for that voice at Hogwarts.

And that potion, I need to find out what kind of potion it is that Voldemort values so much.

"Mr. Green, are you still there?" A moment later, a woman's voice came from the library again; it was Mrs. Pince's voice.

Jerry didn't answer immediately. He glanced at her discreetly, and after confirming it was Mrs. Pince, he replied, "She's still here, Mrs. Pince!"

"Sorry, Professor McGonagall needed to speak with me earlier, so I was out for a bit. Have you finished your work? If you have, please go back to your dorm!"

After saying goodbye to Mrs. Pings, Jerry also left the library.

The next day at noon, at the Gryffindor long table.

"Jerry, are you looking for something?" Hermione asked, looking at Jerry with some curiosity.

No, why would you ask that?

"Then why were you looking around all morning?"

Before Jerry could answer, Harry brought Ron and Neville to their side.

Harry asked, "Jerry, Hermione, Hagrid invited us to visit his cottage after school this afternoon. Are you going? It's right next to the Forbidden Forest."

Jerry glanced back at Hermione, and seeing her nod, said, "Of course, we'll go together. I heard Hagrid knows a lot about magical creatures, and I'd like him to take a look at Tom. He's too fat now, and I'm worried he might get sick."

After Jerry agreed, Harry excitedly said, "Great! Let's go together then..."

"Where are you going? What bad things are you up to?" Before Harry could finish speaking, a hoarse, cold voice came from behind them.

Jerry didn't even need to look; he knew it was Snape just by the voice. He turned to Snape and said, "Professor, could you please stop appearing behind us and suddenly speaking? It's terrifying."

Snape glanced at Jerry, then snorted and said, "I'll be keeping a close eye on you. If I catch you doing anything wrong, I'll inform Dumbledore and expel you, especially you, Jerry Green. Don't think I'll let you off the hook just because you're a Slytherin student." With that, he turned and left.

"Phew, he's finally gone. Professor Snape was terrifying," Neville said with a sigh of relief.

The others nodded when they heard Neville's words, but Jerry was the only one smiling.

Harry asked him curiously, "Jerry, aren't you afraid of Snape?"

"Why should we be afraid of him? He's a professor at Hogwarts. At most, he might scare us with his words, but he won't actually do anything to us. What's there to be afraid of?"

Harry was still a little scared and said, "But what if one day we make a mistake..."

"No, no, no, Harry, you can't think like that. You should be thinking that as long as I'm not caught, I haven't done anything wrong. You should be thinking about how to avoid being caught, not what punishment I'll receive if I am caught."

Harry and the others were stunned by Jerry's words. Everyone had always told them that if they did something wrong, they would be punished, but now Jerry was telling them that if they weren't caught, it wasn't considered a bad thing. Hmm, thinking about it, it made sense, and they all nodded thoughtfully.

After seeing Harry and the others' behavior, Hermione said to Jerry, "Hey Jerry, you can't do that. You're setting a bad example for them."

Jerry, however, thought it was no big deal and comforted Hermione, saying, "Don't worry, Harry and the others are all grown up, they'll understand."

……

After class in the afternoon, the group followed Harry to a small cabin on the edge of the Forbidden Forest. There was a stone bow and a pair of rubber overshoes in front of the door.

"Hagrid, are you there? We're coming!"

After a series of thumping sounds from inside the wooden house, a giant who looked to be over three meters tall and covered in hair opened the door.

"Welcome, welcome, Harry, and Jerry, Hermione, Ron, Neville, welcome! Come on in!"

Upon entering, Jerry looked around Hagrid's cabin. The interior was simply yet cozy, with a huge wooden bed occupying one corner of the room. Thick quilts and blankets covered the bed, making it look very comfortable.

In another corner of the room was an old wooden table, on which were displayed various strange objects that Hagrid had made himself, such as a pipe made of deer antlers and a windmill made of branches and bird feathers.

A row of hunting rifles and bows and arrows hung on the wall, along with a row of somewhat frightening-looking witchcraft tools.

"Come and try some of these rock-crust cookies I just made this afternoon." After inviting the group to sit down, Hagrid brought out his homemade cookies to serve them.

Jerry tried to break the cookie with his hands, but couldn't, so he secretly put it back, picked up his tea and drank it. Then he whispered in Hermione's ear, "You should try Hagrid's special cookies. You've never had anything like them before."

Hermione was somewhat skeptical, but she picked up a piece and took a bite. She couldn't bite it the first time, but when she bit down hard, her two large front teeth almost broke. The pain almost brought tears to Hermione's eyes.

Hermione covered her mouth and saw Jerry grinning. Realizing she had been tricked, she angrily reached out and pinched Jerry's arm 180 degrees. Jerry gasped and apologized to her, coaxing her for a while before stopping.

Harry and the others picked up cookies and started biting into them, and just like Hermione, they almost broke their teeth.

Just then, a black hound walked in. Hagrid introduced it, "This is my hound, I call it Tooth. I'm very grateful to it in the Forbidden Forest, otherwise I really wouldn't have been able to catch the Weasley twins."

When Hagrid mentioned the Weasley twins, Ron gave an awkward smile.

The group sat down and started chatting. Harry soon brought up Snape, feeling that Snape was hostile towards him and was always causing him trouble.

After Hagrid comforted Harry, Ron brought up the Gringotts theft again. Hagrid, wanting to change the subject, noticed Jerry playing with Toothbrush and said, "Jerry, where's your pet? Let me see what kind of bird it is?"

Hearing Hagrid's words, Jerry stood up and shouted towards the door, "Tom!" A moment later, a plump black bird stumbled and flew into Jerry's arms, almost knocking him over.

Jerry carried Tom to Hagrid and asked him to identify what kind of bird Tom was.
