Chapter 4 The Trial Begins
Customers in the nearby bookstore were already glancing over with subtle expressions, clearly the two's unusual posture had attracted attention.
Although Eriri was wearing a mask, you could tell from her guilty look that she was wearing a mask.
Damn!
What are you all looking at?! Drag this guy out and execute him! How dare he!
Unfortunately, there were no cracks in the floor in front of her, so Eriri could only stand there stiffly, feeling helpless.
In fact, island nations are very contradictory countries.
Despite being a country where anime and manga culture is very popular, people in society hold two very different and extreme views on anime, manga, and otaku culture.
Some people don't have a hostile view of anime and manga; they belong to the "Buddhist" group who won't feel aversion unless it affects them.
Another group harbors a deep-seated aversion to the entire anime and manga community. They believe that various plots in anime and manga are the primary factor inducing social crime, and that "lolicon" and "hentai" anime and manga will affect the stability of the entire society.
Those who enjoy watching anime and are considered "otaku" are often hidden criminals in Japanese society.
Currently, in an environment where small groups are rampant on school campuses in island nations, those who dare to admit to being fans of anime and manga are likely to be relatively isolated individuals in schools.
On campus, the lack of group protection means isolation and bullying.
In island nations, even princesses from royal families have appeared on television because they were bullied at school.
This shows that in this environment, anime fans in island nations need to hide their identities.
Not to mention Eriri's deeper identity is a truly astonishing revelation.
It's no wonder Eriri froze when she heard her own name.
Eriri comes from a very privileged family background. Her father is a British diplomat stationed in the island nation. As his daughter, it's easy to imagine that if her identity as an artist were exposed, it would cause quite a stir.
“You…you come out with me, I have something to tell you.”
After saying that, Eriri forcefully pulled Yuta Kijima's clothes and walked out of the bookstore.
Eriri bit her lip, vowing in her heart to shut this guy up.
I wonder if this guy knows my other identity. If it was just a chance encounter, I'd have a chance to explain.
Looking at the excited Sawamura in front of him, Kijima Yuta hesitated, as if he had been caught up in a troublesome accident.
Taking a quick breath, I picked up the light novel "Love Metronome," which had been highly recommended online, and was then dragged out of the bookstore by my friend Sawamura.
I walked out of the bookstore.
The sun was shining brightly outside, and the streets were bustling with anime fans who had come to Akihabara for a pilgrimage.
If possible, Yuta Kijima would like to experience the world-famous maid cafes in Akihabara.
"Hey! What are you dawdling for? Hurry up and catch up."
I could hear Sawamura's impatient and urging voice in my ear, as if he might rush up at any moment and continue the previous dragging behavior.
I had just pleaded with Sawamura to promise me I wouldn't run away, otherwise I might not have even had the chance to go to the cashier to pay.
"hey-hey……"
Yuta Kijima responded somewhat helplessly, regretting that he hadn't revealed Sawamura's identity in the first place. He thought he had met a kindred spirit, but now it seemed he might have encountered a hidden, serious problem.
I can only hope that Sawamura-kun will let me leave soon. I was thinking of going back today to work out the outline of the light novel I'm going to publish later.
……
"Sawamura-kun, where are we going?"
"Stop arguing! Just stay close to me, and we'll have a proper talk later!"
Eriri glared fiercely at Yuta Kijima.
Her bright blue eyes now seemed to be shrouded in a faint aura of darkness, and her slender, delicate eyebrows were furrowed in anxiety.
Should we ask my father to use his connections to sink this guy in Tokyo Bay?
I had no recollection of the boy in front of me, but it's normal not to know any of the many students in the school.
Eriri turned around and took a good look at the boy behind her.
Undeniably, he has a face blessed by heaven, with deep eyes, a high nose bridge, and a height unlike most Japanese people. He looks like a typical "normie" (a person who is very popular and outgoing).
Strange? A guy like that wouldn't be so unknown in school; he must have become a celebrity by now.
How could I not know who he is?
When I was in the art club, there were always a bunch of girls around me discussing the handsome guys at school, both juniors and seniors. I had absolutely no recollection of this guy in front of me.
Eriri snapped out of her daze and turned to walk towards the coffee shop she used to frequent.
Once we get there, we'll find out. We must make him keep everything he sees to himself.
Yuta Kijima, who was following Eriri, looked very strange.
What's Sawamura doing, turning back to look at me so many times? If I weren't so confident in my looks, I'd probably wonder if there's something on my face.
This leads me to constantly look back, thinking there's something attractive behind me.
"Sawamura-kun, we are..."
"Alright, we're here! Come in with me."
Just as Kijima Yuta was about to ask when they would arrive at their destination, Eriri interrupted him.
They were now in front of what looked like a high-end coffee shop, and the area around them was no longer as crowded as Akihabara.
After all, we've been gone for so long, we've long since left the sacred ground of the anime and manga world.
As for why she went so far, Eriri said that she will no longer appear in Akihabara or other anime/manga communities.
She didn't want to run into an acquaintance again, as that would be quite unpleasant.
As for now, let's deal with the immediate troubles first.
Yuta Kijima followed Eriri into the cafe and sat down in a corner.
Since it's not a good time to drink coffee, there are only a few scattered customers in the coffee shop.
This position is unlikely to attract much attention no matter what happens.
Eriri casually ordered a coffee for herself and Yuta Kijima, dismissed the waiter, and then her entire demeanor suddenly changed.
Just like judging a criminal in a courtroom, his eyes were sharp, staring intently at Yuta Kijima in front of him.
At this moment, Kijima Yuta felt no pressure whatsoever, staring sharply into Sawamura's eyes.
I wonder if I did anything wrong. What is Sawamura trying to do? Is he trying to find my weakness and kill me?
Damn it! Doesn't this guy in front of me have anything to say?
How did you recognize me?
Is there some ulterior motive?
hateful! hateful!
Since you're unwilling to openly admit your sins, let's see how long you can hold out.
Tell me what you want. I've already started recording. If you have even the slightest ulterior motive, I'll call the police immediately.
Then your father will use his connections to send you, this pretty boy, to spend the rest of your life in prison.
Thinking it over, Eriri turned on the recording function on her phone, which was on her lap, and prepared to begin the trial.
Chapter 5 An Unsettled Campus Life
As Yuta Kijima remained silent, his gaze fell upon the girl opposite him.
Eriri had already taken off her mask. After all, she was of mixed race, possessing both the three-dimensional features of Europeans and the delicate features of Easterners. The canine teeth at the corners of her mouth revealed that she felt like a little tiger whose food had been stolen.
At this moment, she had taken off her hat and did not tie her hair into pigtails as usual. Her loose, golden hair gave her a sophisticated and elegant air.
Their eyes met briefly.
Eriri could no longer hold back.
"What are you still looking at? Tell me, where are you from, and how did you recognize me?"
Eriri across from them showed her fangs, and her angry expression only made her cuter.
“Sawamura-kun, I’m Yuta Kijima, a first-year student at Toyonosaki. As for why I know you, it’s simply because we’re in the same school and I met you once by chance.”
"As for why I recognized you, your attire probably didn't play a big role." After saying that, Yuta Kijima picked up his coffee and took a sip.
If it weren't for the fact that they both attended Toyonosaki Private High School, he really wouldn't want to be interrogated like a criminal here.
Honestly, if Eriri hadn't been squatting by the bookshelf looking at the books with a mischievous "hehehe" grin, Yuta Kijima probably wouldn't have paid any attention to who she was.
Ultimately, it's all my fault for having a moment of curiosity.
Yuta Kijima, starting to feel frustrated, put his hand to his forehead.
"So we're from the same school? You've seen me at school?" Eriri's aura softened at this point. Being from the same school was just bad luck for her; it was all because Japan's land area was too small.
"Yuta Kijima? I've never heard of you at school."
Eriri asked, puzzled.
Logically speaking, Eriri couldn't possibly have been unaware of the boy's appearance, since someone with such outstanding looks would always be the center of gossip among the girls at school.
Yuta Kijima nodded: "Sawamura-kun, you may not have heard of me because my image at school is a little different from that outside."
"Humph."
Eriri snorted softly, revealing her little fangs, and said fiercely to Yuta Kijima.
"I don't care if you go to the same school as me or not. If you tell anyone about what happened today, you're finished!"
Eriri is currently in a state similar to a cat with its fur standing on end. When she gets angry, she threatens Yuta Kijima in an awkward tone, just like she is now.
“Sawamura-kun, I’m not really interested in spreading other people’s hobbies, and I don’t think it’s shameful to have your own hobbies.”
Eriri narrowed her eyes and scrutinized Yuta Kijima. Her golden hair was smooth and shiny under the light, and she seemed quite satisfied with Yuta Kijima's answer.
She crossed her arms and nodded slightly.
"The comics I bought weren't for my own enjoyment; my mother needed material for them, which is why I was there."
