Lu Mingfei pondered for a moment, then said with a strange expression, "Have you ever thought about...?"
“I know what you’re trying to say. I will never give up being Iron Man,” Tony interrupted him, his haggard face now incredibly resolute. “If using the Iron Man suit would shorten my lifespan, I would rather die wearing it in my last moments.”
“No,” Lu Mingfei blinked, “Well, Tony, I don’t know much about reactors, and I don’t know much about science compared to you, so I’m just suggesting a possibility: if using the Iron Man suit causes the reactor in your chest to consume energy rapidly, causing the palladium level in your blood to surge…”
“Then is it possible, I mean, this possibility,” Lu Mingfei tentatively suggested, “that you could also give your Iron Man suit an external power source, like the suits I have and Colonel Rhodes’s, where the reactor on your chest is only used to power the magnets? That way, when you use the Iron Man suit, you won’t accelerate the pollution, right?”
Tony paused for a moment.
"Or, to take it a step further, why don't you remove the reactor in your chest and replace it with a clean energy battery?" Lu Mingfei continued. "Anyway, the magnet in your chest shouldn't consume much power. With your abilities, it shouldn't be difficult to develop a clean battery that can continuously power the magnet in your chest for more than a week, right? You can just replace it more often in the future."
Tony suddenly fell silent, sitting blankly on the sofa.
"Tony? Tony?" Lu Mingfei asked tentatively, "Is there a problem with my suggestion?"
Tony suddenly stood up, his face tense, and said, "Mingfei, wait a moment, I need to go back to the lab to do an experiment."
After saying this, Tony strode towards the laboratory, looking no different from usual.
He tripped over his own feet and fell inside the laboratory as he walked through the door.
The lab door was closed, and Lu Mingfei could vaguely hear Tony cheering coming from inside.

Chapter 49. S.H.I.E.L.D.
In Tony's laboratory.
Tony sat at his desk, with a semi-transparent screen floating in front of him, displaying a series of test questions.
With an unusually serious expression, Tony answered the questions one by one. Even though he could see the answer to each question at a glance, he would still think it over again before filling it in.
This was probably the test he had answered most seriously since birth.
"Tony! Next time you fight at home, could you at least take less damage?" Lu Mingfei's voice suddenly rang out from behind Tony. "Your food supplies are all gone, except for some fruit. I'm ordering takeout. Do you want some fried chicken and cola?"
"Eat...eat! Order one for me too." Tony shuddered and hurriedly replied, then suddenly made a gesture, shrinking the screen displaying the test questions to the size of a cookie.
"OK, Jarvis, order three servings of fried chicken and two large cups of Coke for Tony and me," Lu Mingfei said as he walked over.
"Are you going to eat two portions by yourself again?" Tony said. "Aren't you afraid of gaining weight?"
"To be honest, ever since I awakened my bloodline, I only build muscle even without exercising," Lu Mingfei chuckled.
After saying that, he suddenly leaned closer, looking at Tony with a suspicious expression: "Tony, what were you doing just now? Why were you so nervous when I came in? You weren't secretly looking at those hot photos of beautiful models, were you?"
"Do you think I'm like you?" Tony retorted. "I never look at photos; I always go directly to talk to them in person."
After a pause, Tony added, "However, I sometimes take photos during the conversations."
"Wow!" Lu Mingfei said with a look of disgust, "You've got it all figured out, even more fancy than I expected."
Tony looked proud.
"I wasn't praising you!" Lu Mingfei smirked, his gaze fixed on Tony's chest, raising an eyebrow. "You haven't replaced that thing yet? Making a clean-energy battery shouldn't be difficult for you, right?"
A soft blue light shone through Tony's clothes from his chest, making it look like the same reactor as before.
Although only half a day had passed since Lu Mingfei made the suggestion to Tony, Tony should have already accomplished it given his abilities.
"I've already changed into it, but I've kept the previous look."
Tony pointed to another table, and Lu Mingfei looked over and sure enough, there lay a dismantled reactor.
"You even added a light to the new battery and made it look like a reactor?" Lu Mingfei complained. "Won't that increase power consumption and reduce battery life?"
“This is my logo,” Tony pointed to the blue light on his chest. “And this battery has a pretty high energy storage efficiency. Even with the lights, one battery is enough for a year.”
"You finished it in half a day?" Lu Mingfei's eyes widened, and he gained a whole new understanding of Tony's abnormal level of scientific research.
“No,” Tony shook his head. “It took me two and a half hours to make.”
Lu Mingfei: ...
"Wait, if you made the new battery in less than three hours, what were you doing in the lab the rest of the time?" Lu Mingfei asked curiously.
“Uh…sobering up,” Tony said.
“Miss Pepper, you’ve arrived?” Lu Mingfei turned to look at the laboratory door.
Tony immediately turned around, somewhat flustered, "Hey Pepper, um..."
He then realized that there was no one there at all.
In the brief moment he turned around, Lu Mingfei took two steps forward and quickly enlarged the screen that Tony had previously shrunk.
A densely filled test paper appeared. Lu Mingfei looked up at the title at the very top of the paper and read it out slowly and deliberately: "High-Scale IQ Test..."
Lu Mingfei was stunned for a moment, then burst into uncontrollable laughter: "Hahahaha... Tony, you actually... you actually did an IQ test, hahahaha... I'm dying of laughter, hahahaha, I could laugh about this for two years, hahahaha..."
Under Tony's murderous gaze, Lu Mingfei's face twisted with laughter, his lips and eyebrows seemingly touching.
Tony turned off the screen with a dark expression.
It took Lu Mingfei quite a while to gradually stop laughing.
“I’m going to find Pepper,” Tony said.
"Seriously? I just laughed at you a couple of times and you got angry?" Lu Mingfei was surprised. "Tony, when did you become so petty?"
“No,” Tony shook his head, hesitated for a moment, and said, “I wanted to go find Pepper and apologize to her…”
"What?" Lu Mingfei exclaimed as if he had discovered a new continent. "Did I hear that right? You're going to apologize? Tony, you're actually apologizing?"
Tony's lips twitched slightly: "I did go a bit too far yesterday, and I think I should make it up to her."
“I’m glad you had this idea,” Lu Mingfei said, patting Tony on the shoulder.
He had a gratified expression on his face, as if he were seeing his own child grow up.
Tony slapped Lu Mingfei's hand away: "By the way, shouldn't I bring Pepper a gift, and preferably something she likes? Oh! I remember, she seemed to have said that strawberries are special to her. Mingfei, do you think I should go buy some strawberries?"
Lu Mingfei was silent for a few seconds: "If I remember correctly, she said that strawberries are particularly dangerous to her because she is allergic to strawberries."
"Are you planning to send Miss Pepper to the hospital and then take good care of her at her bedside to win her favor?" Lu Mingfei quipped.
Tony remained silent.
“You don’t even know what she’s allergic to, but she knows all the details of your life,” Lu Mingfei complained. “Sometimes I even wonder if you’re attracted to her because you have a bit of an Oedipus complex.”
The Oedipus complex, also known as the "mother complex".
"When we first met, you weren't this mean-spirited, were you?" Tony's face twitched.
In his memory, Lu Mingfei used to just like to spout nonsense, so why does he sometimes speak with veiled barbs now?
"Really?" Lu Mingfei was taken aback; he didn't feel that he had changed at all.
“Yes,” Tony said, heartbroken, “who did you learn bad habits from?!”
Lu Mingfei stared intently at Tony.
“Okay, maybe it’s me,” Tony said.
"No, I have to be careful, I can't let you influence me," Lu Mingfei complained, "You can be very offensive with your words."
"Really? I think I just like to speak my mind." Tony shrugged.
"Why didn't you tell us directly about the palladium poisoning?" Lu Mingfei retorted.
Tony was silent for a few seconds, then had to admit that Lu Mingfei might, perhaps, should, probably, or maybe was indeed influenced by him a little.
But this is definitely not his fault. Lu Mingfei didn't learn from his many good qualities, but only his bad ones. How can you blame him for that?!
“By the way, speaking of palladium poisoning,” Lu Mingfei suddenly remembered something and said, “did that guy who attacked you at the racetrack use the same reactor as you?”
“Yes,” Tony nodded. “I’ve already had Jarvis check. The man’s name is Ivan Vanko, a physicist who was sentenced to fifteen years in Kopesk prison for selling weapons-grade plutonium to other countries. His father, Anton Vanko, was also a physicist who defected from the Soviet Union to the United States in 1963, but was later accused of espionage and was deported.”
"So why do they have a reactor? Did your reactor blueprints get leaked?" Lu Mingfei asked.
“Impossible,” Tony shook his head. “I never drew up the blueprints for the microreactor. If anything, it could have been the blueprints for the large and medium-sized reactors that were leaked.”
"So, it's possible that he derived the blueprints for a micro-reactor from the blueprints for a large or medium-sized reactor?" Lu Mingfei exclaimed in surprise. "Tony, this guy's intelligence is probably no less than ours!"
"Please remove your name, thank you," Tony retorted.
“Or there’s another possibility,” a loud voice came from afar, “that he originally had the original blueprints for a miniature reactor.”
Lu Mingfei and Tony looked in the direction of the sound and saw a one-eyed black man wearing a long black leather trench coat and an eye patch walking into the laboratory.
Tony's first reaction was relief—thankfully, he had already turned off the IQ test screen.
"Tony, this is...your friend?" Lu Mingfei slightly bent over, ready to rush forward and subdue the one-eyed man if Tony said no.
He had heard that many Black people in the United States were fond of breaking into homes and committing robberies, so he had to be careful.
“He’s like an uninvited friend,” Tony said. “Jarvis! Activate security procedures immediately!”
"Yes, sir." Dark gun barrels protruded from every corner of the laboratory.
"Hey! Calm down." The one-eyed man, who had just been so assertive, seemed completely unprepared for things to turn out this way. He could only raise his hand and give a French military salute as a greeting.
"Jarvis, change the ammunition," Tony said.
"Should we switch to tranquilizer darts, sir?" Jarvis asked.
“No, change it to a strong laxative and a tranquilizer,” Tony said.
Lu Mingfei, who was standing next to him, looked horrified.
The black man who came in seemed to have an even darker face.
“Just kidding,” Tony said. “Jarvis, put the gun down.”
"Yes, sir." The gun barrel was withdrawn into the shadows of the corner.
"When did you add these things to your lab?" Nick Fury asked, his face dark.
“It started six months ago when you broke into my house,” Tony said.
Lu Mingfei stared at the black man in front of him in astonishment—it really was a home invasion robbery!
