Everything is divided into two parts.
Once again, to the astonishment of the aliens, the light wheel easily sliced through the mutated octopus-like monster, then continued to spin and disappear into the sky, vanishing among the stars, its merits and fame hidden.
Shen You, who had just finished off the enemy with a whirlwind attack, clapped his hands and turned to the old wizard: "Did you just call me?"
The old wizard opened his mouth, paused, then regained his composure and stroked his long beard. "Oh, nothing. I was wondering what we're having for dinner tonight?"
"Oh, we'll talk about that later. I have work to do now," Shen You said. "It's your turn to get to work."
So the old wizard stepped forward and continued arranging the incantations. He had used these spells quite a bit these past two days; they were almost like muscle instincts.
The first question was still about the deployment of the large-scale purge system in the current base, which had been deactivated and the base station destroyed. The next step was to follow the trail and locate the next outpost.
"We've also set up a base station on the lunar surface," the commander, bound by the spell, confessed honestly.
“We’ve been there already, let’s go somewhere else,” Shen You said.
"Uh, actually we hid one in Earth's near-Earth orbit, right here..."
"We're out, let's get another one," Shen You urged.
"There's actually another one on Earth, right on the equator."
"That's all gone too. Are there any left?"
The commander's mouth gaped open, and he stood there dumbfounded for a long time.
Then he shook his head.
That's all I know.
After cross-referencing the information obtained from other outposts, Shen You was disappointed to find that there were only so many bases around.
He has already cleared it all out.
"In that case, their plans are probably no longer feasible." The old wizard stroked his beard and nodded slightly. "Another group of invaders' plot has been thwarted, isn't that right?"
He glanced at Shen You and was surprised to find that the other man did not have the joy of success on his face, but instead looked a little dejected.
With a hint of disappointment and a sense of unfulfilled desire, it was as if to say, "That's it?"
Rozburg, headquarters.
Surrounded by Kryptonians, Norn stood atop the bridge, delivering a pre-battle mobilization speech.
"My fellow countrymen, the time has come! Krypton may be destroyed, but my race will not perish!"
This planet is the greatest gift the gods of Reo have given us; it is the birthplace of the new Krypton!
He paused, then turned to look at the man standing next to him with a resolute face and well-defined features.
"Furthermore, we were very fortunate to meet General Zod, the finest warrior among our few remaining Kryptonian brethren, before this crucial battle."
With our combined efforts, a new Krypton will soon be established, and it will surpass all previous ones!
The Kryptonians in the audience cheered loudly.
"Now comes the moment to witness history! The prelude to the new Kryptonian war begins at this very moment!"
Norn waved his hand and pressed the large red button in front of him.
That's the button for their ultimate weapon, the "Great Purge," which only Norn has the authority to activate. Once the button is pressed, all outposts will receive the signal simultaneously. At that moment, base stations everywhere will activate, and mental signals will cover the entire globe, brainwashing and controlling every human being without their knowledge.
If all goes well, this battle will be fought without firing a single shot. Earthlings will not even have a chance to resist before they all become slaves of Neo-Krypton.
However, when the button was pressed, nothing happened.
Everyone stared at each other, including General Zod, who frowned and looked at Norn with a questioning expression that seemed to say, "What the hell are you doing?"
Sensing the increasingly awkward atmosphere, Norn coughed and said, "The system seems to be experiencing a minor malfunction. But don't worry, we have professional staff working on it, so please remain calm."
With that, he exploded with a sonic boom and flew out, instantly appearing in front of the control panel and glaring at the technician.
"what's the situation!?"
"I don't know!" The technician was also sweating profusely. "None of the outposts are responding."
"Where are they? Where have they all gone?!" Norn roared in fury.
With so many outposts and branches, even if one outpost fails to respond in time due to some unexpected reason, can't they all have an accident at the same time?
Is the call out of service area?
At this moment, Zod strolled over slowly: "Your people don't seem very reliable."
"That's impossible. With so many outposts, how could there be no movement at all?"
Norn frowned, as if he had suddenly thought of something.
"Could it be...!?"
"What, who are you thinking of?" Zod asked.
“No, that shouldn’t be possible.” Norn still frowned. “How could such a backward people, a group of primitive people trapped on their own planet who can’t even leave their homes, possibly…?”
"Who is it?" Zod asked. "Who could be an obstacle to our rebuilding of Krypton?"
Norn looked helpless.
"Well, although I think it's very unlikely, we sent spies to Earth before to find out where my niece is. But several of them were killed on Earth."
It was then that this backward planet in our solar system first came into our view. And according to the news brought back by the spies who later managed to return, they said that the resistance came from a human-established agency specifically to deal with extraterrestrial threats.
They collect and study various extraterrestrial technologies, forming the main line of defense established by Earthlings against extraterrestrial threats.
“Like the Deep Space Council of Krypton in the past.” General Zod nodded. “If that’s true, then they might indeed be the only human organization that could possibly pose a threat to us.”
So, do they have names?
Norn nodded, uttering the word with a solemn expression.
"The Eyes of Heaven will meet."
Chapter 139 Who are these people?
Darfur town.
This is a small town born in the desert and nurtured by war. Almost since the beginning of recorded history, the air here has seemed to be filled with the ever-present smell of dust and gunpowder. The dilapidated clock tower is incomplete, and the ancient square is cratered by bombs and rockets.
There were almost no pedestrians on the street, only the occasional armed soldier patrolling. Many of the shops along the street had been destroyed, and a crumbling wall was painted with labels such as "freedom" and "justice" in the local language, which looked rather ridiculous in the context.
Diana Prince, her face mostly hidden by a white hood, walked slowly through the hail of bullets, shells and stray bullets whizzing past her.
She arrived at the entrance of a bar, the door of which had been destroyed by a bomb. Several young men in vests and flip-flops were running around in the street, firing submachine guns and shouting.
Diana glanced at it, frowned, and said nothing. She walked through the door into the bar.
The bar was a scene of utter devastation. The air reeked of blood, and pools of blood stretched to the doorway. The bodies of men and women lay scattered throughout the room, broken bottles strewn everywhere, liquor mixed with blood. The bar owner was slumped over the bar, his shotgun lying on the floor. A gaping hole had been punched in his forehead, and blood was streaming down the counter.
The most striking feature inside the house was a bald old man.
An old man with a thick white beard and a wiry, thin frame sat at the bar, leisurely pouring drinks into his glass, seemingly oblivious to the dead bodies and pools of blood scattered throughout the room.
Diana sat down next to him expressionlessly. The old man didn't look up, but picked up his cup and gestured to her.
"Want a drink?"
“No need,” Diana said curtly.
The old man glanced at her and shrugged. "Don't look at me like that. This has nothing to do with me. It's human beings killing each other because it's in their nature. They just love to do it."
“I know how this works, Ares. There’s no need to explain anything to me,” Diana said coldly. “You are the God of War; wherever you go, there will be conflict. And war, in turn, makes you stronger.”
She paused, then continued, "But I'm not here for that today, but for the prophecy of Olympus. There's an unexpected matter concerning our father, Zeus."
Ares, the God of War, raised an eyebrow: "What? Are you trying to say he loves us?"
“I said ‘accident,’ not ‘shock,’” Diana said calmly. “Apollo believed he had been murdered.”
“Ha, that makes sense,” Ares said lightly.
"how?"
“Oh, you think my idea is really cute, little one.” Ares leaned forward from behind the counter, reached inside and rummaged around for a while, then took out a new bottle of wine.
"You mean, you didn't do it?"
“Of course. If it were really me, you would have known long ago.” Ares shrugged. “You don’t think I would just sit here silently and say nothing if I killed Zeus, do you?”
Diana thought for a moment and said, "That makes sense."
"But this explains a lot of things. It turns out Zeus died, no wonder they said the Fallen Realm was about to open again."
Ares muttered to himself as he continued pouring wine into his glass.
"what is that?"
"The Fallen Realm contains artifacts crafted by some ancient beings from the God Realm. But it must be said, they are indeed rare creations."
Ares swirled his glass, examining the bubbles inside.
"Legend. Of course, it's just a legend. Once someone successfully enters the Fallen Realm and obtains something sealed within it, that person—even if they were originally just an ordinary mortal—will gain the divine power of Zeus."
Diana frowned: "Something this powerful exists. What if it falls into the wrong hands?"
"Yeah, I know some people in Olympus who've always been pretty interested in that stuff. Like our hottest brother, for example."
"Apollo."
Diana hesitated.
"That's still considered good. Apollo may not be very likable, and he has some well-known ambitions, but he is still an Olympian god, and all he cares about is divine power and Zeus's position."
Ares continued unhurriedly.
"And if that thing were to fall into the hands of someone outside of Olympus, or to take it a step further, if it were a very ambitious mortal who didn't mind making sacrifices..."
Diana squinted at him.
Why do you sound so uninterested in this?
“Not everyone covets Zeus’s power,” Ares shrugged. “Our destiny is never in our own hands, but in the hands of mortals. Most of Olympus just don’t realize it. But one day, the world will be ruled by war. Only war is eternal.”
“You want me involved,” Diana said calmly. “You want me to fight them—whoever wants to covet this power—and then there will be the conflict you desire most.”
“Yeah.” Ares shrugged nonchalantly, seemingly unconcerned that his thoughts had been exposed. “But even if you knew, you’d still go, wouldn’t you?”
