Ha, but don't worry, there's nothing to be afraid of. Because I'm here, I'll protect the beautiful lady."
However, when she turned her head, she found that Kara wasn't listening at all and was still trying to start a conversation with the taciturn Raven.
"What do you want to do in the future?" Kara asked.
"I don't know," Raven shook his head.
“I used to want to be a scientist, like my dad,” Kara said.
Chris quickly tried to join the conversation: "Me too, me too! I've always wanted to be a scientist since I was little! What a coincidence, hahaha!"
"But I don't want to anymore. Studying and doing research all day is so boring. I like being in the sky; maybe being a flight attendant wouldn't be so bad."
Chris laughed and said, "That's quite a coincidence. I've always wanted to be a flight attendant since I was a child."
Both henchmen cast strange glances at him: "Boss, this sounds a bit creepy."
Chris turned and glared at them fiercely, and the two of them shrank back and remained silent.
A group of young people quickly arrived outside the abandoned building.
The old, dilapidated building had most of its exterior walls peeling away, revealing a desolate interior. Apart from shards of broken glass, almost no light penetrated the windows. The central staircase was rotten and on the verge of collapse. Layers of dust covered the ceiling, and the wallpaper was faded and worn, creating a gloomy and somber atmosphere.
A cool breeze would occasionally drift through the hall, bringing with it eerie creaking sounds from who-knows-where.
The two underlings couldn't help but swallow hard when they saw this scene.
The second underling cautiously looked at Chris: "Um, bro, are we really sure we want to go in? Maybe we should just go home, wash up, and go to bed early tonight?"
“Nonsense.” Chris glared at him, then lowered his voice to plot, “Did I forget what I told you? Only places like this offer the best opportunity. In this environment, if we just scare her a little, won’t she immediately throw herself at us?”
The henchman muttered weakly, "But what does that have to do with us?"
"Hmm?" Chris narrowed his eyes.
"No, I mean... what if there really is a devil?" The underling shuddered. "I've seen cannon fodder in horror movies die like this."
Chris stared at him for a moment with an expression as if he were an idiot.
The younger brother shrank back, not daring to utter another word, and followed him inside.
Meanwhile, none of them noticed.
In a dark corner of an abandoned building, a sinister figure leaned against a window, looking down at the group of young people assembled like cannon fodder from a classic horror movie, and let out a strange, grating laugh.
"We were just worrying about the next batch of offerings when they actually came to us on their own."
He gave a sinister, eerie laugh.
"Wait, Lord Belial. Fresh blood and sacrifices are on their way."
Chapter 69 There is a ghost
A month ago, Laurie was a loser.
In a place like Gotham, there's no shortage of people like him. In his thirties, he was unemployed and had no skills. A while ago, he tried to make a living by joining the underworld, but ended up following three different bosses. The first one was killed in a gang fight, the second one died on the spot after choking on a fish bone, and the third one was arrested and imprisoned by the newly debuted Batman.
From then on, his reputation spread throughout the local underworld. Known as the "Boss Killer," no small gang in the area dared to take him in anymore.
As a result, he lost his job in the underworld.
He was drowning in debt and couldn't pay his rent, so he was evicted by his landlord and was doomed to live on the streets. But as the saying goes, when one door closes, another opens. One night, while rummaging through trash cans for scraps, he suddenly bumped into a ghostly figure who claimed to be a demon from another world, looking for a worker to invade this dimension.
Thinking that she had nothing left to lose, Laurie signed the contract with the devil without hesitation.
This is how he met his Lord Belial.
Lord Belial's demands on him have suddenly increased lately, leaving him somewhat overwhelmed. His crime spree these past few days has been so intense that even in a place like Gotham, the number of missing persons has begun to attract unnecessary attention.
The others were alright, but it seemed that Batman was starting to take notice of the cases. That Batman has a really keen sense of smell; even with the help of demonic magic, Laurie's situation was quite dangerous.
So he suspended his activities tonight and temporarily hid in this abandoned building to avoid the limelight.
To my utter surprise, a few more ignorant and arrogant young people actually offered themselves up.
Laurie was delighted. It was like a godsend, with feed even being delivered to her mouth.
He shrank into the dark room, carved a scarlet magic circle on the ground, placed candles around the circle in a specific orientation, and lit them one by one.
The dim candlelight barely illuminated a corner of the room, and also Laurie's pale face. The blood-drawn magic circle formed an ancient, twisted geometric shape, within which were drawn various intricate and mysterious symbols, ancient scripts, and strange patterns.
Laurie recited softly.
"Demons from another world, heed my call! In the name of the great demon god Belial, descend upon my world and offer your crimson blood as a sacrifice to your great master!"
Show yourself, demons of hell!
Every line forming the magic circle began to glow, illuminating the entire room with a crimson light. A surge of immense energy erupted, extinguishing all the candles simultaneously, and a twisted, terrifying demon, one that should not exist in this world, appeared above the magic circle.
However, he was fast asleep when he came out.
Laurie froze for a moment while she was doing the ritual.
Then, taking a deep breath, he chanted again, "In the name of the great demon god Belial, I offer my crimson blood as a sacrifice to my great master!"
Upon hearing his chanting, the magic circle glowed red once more. The demon's body also jerked violently.
And then he turned over in his sleep.
Laurie: "."
Yes, these are the demons that the great master sent to cooperate with him. This isn't the first time they've worked together, so Laurie was somewhat prepared for this kind of thing.
This is the epitome of a devil. Laurie didn't quite understand why God would send him such a scoundrel, someone who had no interest in achieving results and only wanted to slack off all day. In his opinion, he was a disgrace to the devil.
Laurie coughed and said expressionlessly, "Time to eat."
The demon immediately opened its eyes and sat up from its slumber: "What do you want to eat?"
“A few thrill-seeking young people, your favorite age group. They went to the third floor, on the left side of the stairwell,” Laurie said. “The usual rule: their souls must be sacrificed to the Great Lord, the rest is up to you.”
But be quick about it. Things are getting tense lately; someone's watching us. Don't leave any traces.
"Don't worry." The demon smiled confidently. "I'm a professional. Give me three minutes, and I'll be done in no time."
With that, he confidently transformed into a shadow and floated out the door.
However, just a few seconds later, it floated back and gave an awkward laugh.
"You just said the third floor, was it on the left or right?"
Laurie: "."
"Now we've reached a crucial stage."
In an empty room on the third floor, Chris and his two henchmen huddled together.
“You, repeat the plan.” Chris pointed to his henchman number one.
The henchman immediately gestured to a dark, onesie in his hand: "I'll wear this Halloween costume and pretend to be the devil to scare those two girls. When the boss comes in, I'll pretend to be scared and run away!"
Henchman Number Two raised his hand: "I'll be in charge of lookout and signaling!"
"Very good, very good." Chris nodded in satisfaction. "If I manage to get that transfer girl today, you two will both benefit! Understand?"
"Understood, brother!"
"You understand? Hurry up and change your clothes!"
Little Brother Number One quickly grabbed the Halloween costume and ran off happily.
Chris was smug, already imagining himself as a dashing hero rescuing a damsel in distress, with the beautiful girl throwing herself into his arms.
Yes, that's right, he just lusts after other people's bodies, he's despicable.
But he was proud.
Just then, a shadow silently appeared behind him.
A humanoid, shadowy figure, ugly and emaciated. Its skin had a jet-black sheen, as if smeared with ink, and emitted a strong, foul stench. Its eyes were narrow and fierce, with deep, dark pupils. Its lips were bloodless, revealing sharp, canine-like fangs. A putrid stench permeated its mouth, and the horns on its head had a menacing, sharp shape.
"What's that weird smell?"
Chris, lost in thought, snapped out of it and turned his head to meet those terrifying, demonic eyes.
"Roar!"
The demon bared its teeth, revealing sharp claws and teeth, displaying a terrifying appearance.
Then, full of anticipation, he waited for the young man in front of him to fall to the ground in terror, letting out a scream of extreme panic.
Enjoying the fear of their prey is one of the most beloved aspects of these demons' lives.
Unexpectedly, the young man only paused for a moment, without showing any fear on his face.
It even seems a bit surprising?
"Hmm? Your outfit is quite nice!"
Chris was overjoyed and even started touching and groping the demon.
"The design and the quality are amazing. The eyes even light up? And what are those horns on the head made of? They're so realistic!"
As he spoke, he began to pinch the horns on the demon's head.
Demon: "?"
Never having seen anything like this before, the demon watched as the human touched and groped its body, and for a moment dared not make a move.
I was stunned and stood there dumbfounded.
What's wrong with these humans? Aren't they afraid of me?
Chris was very satisfied with his "little brother's" performance. He hadn't expected that this seemingly foolish and unreliable guy would be so dependable and thorough in getting things done today. The costume and props alone made him feel that half of his goal for the day was already achieved.
But the next moment, a voice came from behind: "Boss, did you call me?"
Chris turned around at the sound.
The youngest brother was half-covered in a loose-fitting, poorly made jumpsuit, with his upper body sticking out, and he peeked out of the room looking bewildered.
Wait a minute.
Chris frowned, realizing the problem was not so simple.
The little brother is inside, and he hasn't even put on his clothes yet. So who is he standing here touching things?
