"Look at everything with suspicion, I remember you emphasized that, young master."
Alfred seemed used to it. His young master was a total coward. He once saw Bruce editing a file on the Batcomputer titled "How to fight back if a zombie virus breaks out." The same file also contained other projects, including but not limited to "What if Gotham is flooded?" and "What if aliens invade?"
At that moment, Alfred had a mouthful of saliva stuck in his throat, and after holding it in for a long time, he still couldn't spit it out.
Never mind, as long as the young master is happy.
He had a feeling that this file would likely have at least three thousand entries. If an outsider saw it, their first impression would be that young Master Wayne was definitely a lunatic.
Bruce stood up again and put on his helmet.
Alfred frowned: "Going out again?"
“The Riddler is nearing his end; now is not the time to relax.” He walked toward the Batmobile.
"But you haven't slept for three days."
"My current limit is one week, and I'm in pretty good shape right now."
As he spoke, he leaped into the Batmobile, which roared off into the distance.
Alfred sighed softly as the Batmobile drove away.
He had a strange feeling, as if he were watching Bruce—his son who was as close to him as blood—embark on a path of no return.
"You can't be a picky eater."
Shen You suddenly turned around and looked sternly at Kara, who was secretly picking out the green peppers.
Kara's face flushed bright red, and she retorted, "I...I just put it aside and will eat it later."
Shen You stared at her expressionlessly for a moment.
"Okay, I'm sorry."
Kara obediently put the green pepper back into her bowl and started eating it quietly.
The old wizard at the table glanced at her with a smile and casually handed a piece of salmon from his plate to Kara's plate.
Kara's face lit up with joy, her cheeks flushed: "Thank you, Grandpa!"
The old wizard smiled and nodded, stroking his long beard with satisfaction.
Over the past few days, he has grown to love this adorable and lively little girl more and more. Having guarded the temple for nine thousand years, many of the emotions he had as a human have long since faded.
Now, having lost his magical powers and forced to retire, he has surprisingly rediscovered something he had once lost in this small corner café.
That thing, which was sealed away in his memory nine thousand years ago, was called "home".
The weather has been gradually getting cooler these past few days. Gotham is a relatively damp place, and the cold air will soon arrive with the season.
Strangely, even as the weather turned cold, Shen You noticed that the young ladies who frequented the coffee shop every day were all dressed lightly, exposing their shoulders, arms, and long legs. Sometimes, one could even vaguely see some deep, mysterious cleavage. If you didn't know better, you would think they were saving on fabric.
Shen You once admired him greatly.
No, I'm Ultraman, I'm not afraid of normal low temperatures, so why aren't you guys afraid either?
Tom, a struggling writer, even expressed his utmost admiration for the young women. He felt it was a truly noble act, a contribution to world peace, and that his own abilities were limited, allowing him only to offer his humble efforts—his warm gaze—to comfort them in this cold world.
Kara's language skills are truly remarkable. Perhaps it's due to the help of her awakening super brain, but lately she's been able to communicate with Shen You in simple ways without relying on telepathy.
Sometimes when Kara sees other young girls coming to the store after school with their backpacks to eat light meals and drink coffee, she feels very envious.
She tugged at Shen You's sleeve, looking at him longingly, and said, "I want to go to school too."
Shen You thought for a moment and said, "If you really want to, there's nothing wrong with it. But at least you need to speak fluently and control your superpowers. We don't want you to get so emotional that you burn your eyes and tear the teacher apart, right?"
So Kara pouted and went back to practicing her spoken English, looking unhappy.
"Is this the place where Li-Bagu and Aliha ran into a wall?"
A tall man stood on a street in Gotham, looking at the hurried pedestrians around him, and couldn't help but frown slightly.
Weak.
This was the first word that came to his mind.
Their civilization was primitive and backward, their technology was outdated, their racial talents were lacking, and their physical abilities were as weak as a reed.
"How did those two idiots manage to get themselves into trouble in a place like this?" the man wondered.
"Perhaps there's more to it than meets the eye."
The one speaking was the woman next to him.
A woman who is unforgettable at first sight; even if you've only seen her once, you'd likely recognize her instantly in a crowd from afar. However, what most people might remember isn't her face, but rather her prominent breasts, which appear as a cluster of peaks, forming a ridge from one angle and a peak from another.
Her face was fairly striking, but compared to her figure, it wasn't as eye-catching. So much so that most people, after seeing her, only remembered one word: "big." They couldn't recall her specific features.
It's so big that it can even have a deceptive effect, like Superman's glasses.
Ignoring the sidelong glances from passersby, the woman leaned lazily against the man: "Those two may be idiots, but at least they're idiots with some ability. If they could be defeated on a planet with a civilization level of only three, it must mean that things aren't as simple as they seem on the surface."
The man nodded slightly: "That makes sense. Let's keep a low profile for now and try to locate the Kryptonian girl first."
"There's no rush."
The woman chuckled and coiled herself around him like a water snake, getting so close that she was almost deformed from the pressure.
"We've had a long journey and are exhausted. Let's take a break, have some fun, and then get down to business."
The man was startled: "Didn't we just have some fun before we came here?"
"That was before I came. A different place means a different environment and a different mood, and maybe even a different kind of happiness?" The woman blinked.
"Right."
The man smiled.
"Let's have fun first and talk about it later."
Chapter 29 Dreaming
Shen You had a strange dream.
In the dream, a dark red sky shrouded Gotham, an eerie atmosphere pervaded the air, and the heavy atmosphere was suffocating.
Skyscrapers shattered with a sharp explosion, collapsing one after another. Reinforced concrete was twisted into grotesque shapes by the blast, ruins and rubble scattered at every street corner, covered in layers of dust and debris. Smoke and dust enveloped Gotham, and in the distance came piercing screams and desperate cries, like the final lament of this city before its end.
Shen You walked along the dilapidated street, looking at the burning wreckage and the ruins around him, his face somewhat blank.
He couldn't quite recall how things had turned out this way, nor could he remember why he was there. The shattered streets beneath his feet gave off a strange sense of unreality, and the choking smoke made him somewhat irritable.
The sky cracked open.
Countless fragments shattered and fell, like a mirror being smashed to pieces. A bizarre face appeared in the shattered sky, with a red face, colorful eyes, and a body covered in red barbs.
He did remember what he looked like.
"Hahahaha!" The strange figure laughed loudly from the crack. "Another world has fallen into darkness. This place is now my domain from another dimension!"
"You are that... who was it again? Don't remind me later."
Shen You frowned, trying hard to awaken his long-forgotten memories.
"An Extradimensional Being, the King of Hired Managers? The Boss Killer?"
The red-faced monster roared in fury: "What 'Emperor of Hired Managers'? I am Yapool, an alien from another dimension, the embodiment of hatred and resentment! Your Ultra race's deepest nightmare!"
"Uh, sorry, you're ranked a bit low on the Land of Light's wanted list, I don't quite remember," Shen You said apologetically.
He remembered that Yapool was Ace's main antagonist in the TV series, the mastermind behind everything. However, over the long history of Ultraman, his prestige gradually declined, and his subsequent appearances mostly involved him working for some more powerful figures.
It's one thing to work, but the real problem is that he enjoys jinxing his bosses. Every time he's about to die, he shouts something like "Long live Lord XXX!" to show his loyalty. However, it turns out that every time his loyalty is proven to be a curse, no matter how high-ranking or powerful the boss is, they all inevitably end up being reduced to ashes by Ultraman.
Yabo was furious and yelled, saying that he was talking nonsense and slandering people out of thin air. He also said that he had never cheated his boss.
"Well, Emperor of the Universe, you're the one who killed the Aliens Empera, aren't you?" Shen You began to recount the details.
"That's because he just stood there and attacked without knowing how to dodge skills. It's the behavior of a bronze player on a max-level account. It has nothing to do with me," Yapool said confidently.
"What about Dark Lugiel? A ruthless man who single-handedly slaughtered his way through the Land of Light. Couldn't you say he was killed by your own curse?"
"What about Juda, the emperor-level cosmic demon of the multiverse? Was he also killed by your sycophancy?"
Yabo people: "."
The extradimensional being grew increasingly agitated, letting out a loud howl as its enormous body burst forth from the crack, its massive fists slamming down towards Shen You's head.
"Wait a minute."
Shen You gestured for him to stop. The Yapool man abruptly stopped his fist before it landed, glaring at him angrily.
"So what?"
"Wait a minute, I think I'm in DC. Where did the Yapools come from in Gotham City?" Shen You rested his chin on his hand, trying to remember. "You time-traveled too?"
Or rather, "
With a thought in mind, Shen You closed his eyes and concentrated his mental energy to prepare.
The surrounding scenery abruptly shifted. The enormous Yapool vanished like a phantom, and the crimson sky and burning streets began to spin. Everything was sucked into a gigantic vortex, swallowed up into chaos.
When Shen You opened his eyes again, he was back in the coffee shop, and found that he had fallen asleep in his seat at some point.
Sure enough, it was just a nightmare, something I had imagined.
"You actually woke up on your own?"
The old wizard's voice reached Shen You's ears. Shen You turned his head and saw the old wizard Shazam looking at him with some surprise.
“This is a rare and powerful dream energy. I have some special methods to avoid being captured by nightmares. And you can do it too?” The old wizard paused, looking at Shen You with a complicated expression. “Your mental strength is also very strong, you alien.”
"I have received some relevant training."
As he spoke, Shen You stood up and stretched his limbs.
"what's the situation?"
"A sudden surge of dreamlike magic has likely enveloped the entire city by now. Take a look for yourself."
Shen You looked around and found that everyone in the coffee shop had indeed fallen asleep.
Tom, a regular customer, was slumped over the table, drool piling up at the corner of his mouth. Old Wang, a regular from Gotham's Chinatown, was also slumped over a table in the restaurant, fast asleep and mumbling in his sleep.
If you get closer, you can vaguely hear him muttering something like "My sister-in-law is great."
