Chi Mingwei was sitting at his desk, using his laptop to settle work that he had not managed to finish during the day.

Knock knock knock—

Chi Mingwei said without looking up, “Come in.”

Chi Jiao pushed open the door and entered the room with Quan Jue following behind her.

Seeing Chi Mingwei sitting at the computer table with his glasses on and looking very serious, she tiptoed forward and gently patted the table.

Chi Mingwei was startled and looked up at her.

Seeing the young girl’s smiling face, Chi Mingwei was stunned before he stood up in surprise. He walked around the desk and stood in front of her. “Jiaojiao, you’re finally back.”

He had been calling Chi Jiao every day for the past few days, but her phone was not in service.

She didn’t reply to his texts, either.

Even though Chi Jiao had told him that the place she went to did not have any signal, he still couldn’t help but worry.

“Daddy, I missed you so much!” Chi Jiao threw herself into his arms.

“Daddy missed you, too. How was it? Did everything go smoothly?” Chi Mingwei smiled as he reached out to stroke the back of her head.

He had been in a bad mood because of some troubling matters today.

His mood became much better the moment he saw Chi Jiao.

“It went very well. It’s all thanks to Brother Quan taking care of me this time. I feel like I went on a holiday.” Chi Jiao didn’t forget to give credit.

Chi Mingwei turned his gaze to Quan Jue.

The young man stood there coldly, looking like an ice sculpture.

“It must have been hard on you to take care of Jiaojiao,” Chi Mingwei said with a straight face.

Quan Jue raised an eyebrow. “It’s only right to take care of my future wife. There’s nothing hard about it.”

These words agitated Chi Mingwei so much that he nearly exploded.

“Quan Jue, Jiaojiao isn’t even 18 yet!” Chi Mingwei looked at him with a warning gaze. “Jiaojiao is still far from the legal marriageable age. You don’t have to come to a conclusion so soon. What if our Jiaojiao doesn’t want to marry you in the future?”

Quan Jue didn’t say anything. Instead, he looked at Chi Jiao.

His meaning was clear.

He was asking her implicitly if she would be unwilling to marry him in the future as Chi Mingwei said.

Chi Jiao felt a little bashful.

She had always been a shy person in such matters. When she heard her father and Quan Jue talking about her future marriage, her heart would flutter and she would feel embarrassed.

However, even though she was feeling abashed, she had to firmly express her stance.

“Daddy, I don’t want anyone but Brother Quan in the future!” Chi Jiao said confidently.

Quan Jue smiled at Chi Mingwei. “Did you hear that? Jiaojiao won’t marry anyone but me.”

In Chi Mingwei’s eyes, this smile was like a blatant provocation.

However, he had no choice. Jiaojiao was here, and he couldn’t attack Quan Jue.

He couldn’t continue this conversation or he would be angered to death.

With this thought in mind, Chi Mingwei smiled at Chi Jiao. “Jiaojiao, you’ll be officially 18 in three days. Your grandfather said that you must hold a grand celebration for your 18th birthday. You don’t have to worry, just leave it to me. You just need to tell Daddy what kind of birthday party you like.”

Quan Jue looked at her with burning eyes.

His spoiled little girl was finally going to turn 18.
