Chapter 127 Lena
Chapter 127 Lena
After emerging from the Chamber of Tranquility, Zellier headed straight for the guild's central plaza, which was the designated meeting point.
When he arrived, he found that almost all the mages who were participating in the monster hunt had arrived.
They gathered in small groups, talking in hushed tones, both excited and nervous.
Zellier counted carefully and then determined the levels.
There were quite a few people, more than a dozen, but including myself, there were only four lower-level mages in total.
Among the crowd were some acquaintances he knew.
"Zelil, I was just saying why you didn't come."
Bev's clear and melodious voice rang out.
"How could I possibly be late on such an important day?" Zelil waved and greeted him.
He noticed that there was a pink-haired girl standing next to Beverly.
Judging from the badge, he's a magic apprentice.
Her cheeks had a touch of baby fat, her nose was small and pert, and her black robes made her skin look even whiter.
The girl seemed to have a pretty good relationship with Beverly; the two were standing very close together, as if whispering something.
"Oh, right, let me introduce you."
Beverly took the pink-haired girl's hand affectionately.
"This is my good friend, Annie Dean. We grew up together and are best friends!"
“I don’t think I’ve seen him in the Mage’s Guild before…” Zellier thought for a moment.
I've never seen her appear next to Bev.
"Because Yanni's family moved to another town last year, we rarely see each other anymore."
Beverly pinched her friend's cheek.
"But I really didn't expect that Yani would also participate in the monster hunt this time."
"Because I haven't seen Bev in a long time, I miss you so much, so I used my family's connections to apply for this monster hunt."
Annie nuzzled her cheek against Bev's shoulder affectionately before turning to look at Zell.
Her gaze swept over the other person, sizing them up.
"Hello, my name is Zelier." Zelier nodded slightly to Yani and introduced himself politely.
"Hmm...hello." Yani responded briefly before turning her gaze back to continue chatting with Bev.
Zellier was somewhat surprised.
I always felt that... Yani was a bit cold towards me.
It's not that you have to be overly enthusiastic on a first meeting, but Zellier could sense that Annie seemed to have some inexplicable dislike for him.
Is it an illusion?
"Good morning, Zelier!"
On the other side, Lant also ran over excitedly and greeted Zellir warmly.
“Good morning, Lant,” Zellier said.
But then he suddenly felt something was wrong.
"Wait a minute, Lant, are you also participating in this monster hunt?"
If I remember correctly, Lant wasn't even a magic apprentice, was he?
“Yeah, I begged Professor Marvin for ages before he finally agreed,” Lant said, pursing his lips.
"Oh"
Think about it too.
Lant would rather spend money to have the team take him on adventures; how could he possibly miss out on something like monster hunting?
"I originally thought that since you only recently joined the Mage Guild, you wouldn't be able to participate in this monster hunt."
"I didn't expect you to be here this time, that's great!" Lant said enthusiastically.
"Are there any eligibility restrictions for participating in monster hunting?" Zellier asked casually.
“Yes, I think so. Although it’s not explicitly stated, I heard from my father that the number of spots each year is very limited, and they are basically selected and decided by Instructor Marvin himself,” Lant said. “Usually, you can only get a chance after joining the guild for two to three years.”
"So this is ah……"
Zellier nodded slightly.
He understood somewhat; it must be that his mentor, Marvin, wanted to nurture him properly, which was why he made an exception and allowed him to participate so quickly.
Then we must not let him down.
"In short, it's great that you can come!"
"That way, we can fight side by side again!" Lant said happily.
“Yes, it’s very good.” Zellier nodded with a smile.
Besides Bev, Lant, and the newly acquainted Yani, Zellier glanced around and spotted several other familiar faces.
Riri, who failed the lower-level mage assessment, was also among the crowd.
And there were also those two lower-level mages who exchanged fire breath and arcane missiles when I first arrived at the training ground.
When they saw that Zelier was able to participate in this monster hunt, they were indeed surprised.
A powerful female voice, like a thunderclap, suddenly boomed through the morning mist.
"Everyone's here, right? You're all pretty punctual, no one slept in, that's good!"
Zellier looked in the direction of the sound.
The crowd parted automatically to make way for a red-haired woman who strode confidently towards them.
"Mentor Lena is here," someone whispered.
Lena wore a carefree and unrestrained smile, her red hair like burning flames, leaping behind her.
She was tall and slender, and the robes she wore were not the traditional style.
It looks more like a well-tailored trench coat, with a striking red and black color scheme, and the hem flutters as you walk.
Mentors Marvin and Manlin followed behind her.
"Alright! I'm sure you've all been waiting for a while, haven't you?"
Mentor Lena clapped her hands crisply and decisively.
"Well then, I'll get straight to the point. The monster hunt will officially begin the day after tomorrow. The main reason I called you here today is to divide you into groups so you can get to know your teammates in advance."
"This hunt involves four junior mages, eleven magic apprentices, and one apprentice magic student. Lant, you'd better do your best!"
Lena's gaze swept over them.
Lant blushed and lowered his head.
"Then, the sixteen members will be divided into four teams, each consisting of one junior mage and three magic apprentices."
"During the monster hunt, we will split into two groups. Instructor Marvin will lead two teams, and Instructor Manlin and I will lead two teams."
"The journey takes us through the Greywood Forest and eventually converges at the designated camp on the eastern side of the Hengduan Mountains, which is the final destination."
After Lena finished speaking, she put her hands on her hips and looked around at the inexperienced mages in front of her with an imposing air.
"Now, let's announce the group assignments!"
"The first squad, led by the junior mage Harrison, consists of Fleur, Nancy, and Meyer..."
"The second squad, led by the junior mage Philip, consists of Sally..."
"The third squad, led by the junior mage Layton, consists of..."
Lena read very quickly, then paused deliberately when she got to the last group, her gaze sweeping over Zell and Bev.
"The fourth squad is led by the junior mage Zelier, and the members are Bev, Yani, and Lant."
"Beve, we've been grouped together! That's great!" Yanni said excitedly, holding Beve's hand.
