Chapter 56 Li Leping

Dahai City.

The entire city was deathly silent, devoid of any living creatures. Black bloodstains remained on the streets, and the air was still thick with the pungent smell of blood.

From the air, it was a scene of devastation, with collapsed buildings and corpses strewn everywhere.

But there was one place that seemed out of place.

This is a cemetery; it seems the chaos that devastated the entire city did not extend here.

The hanging plaque has three large characters written on it.

Fushouyuan.

The entire cemetery area was intact, showing no signs of damage whatsoever.

An ordinary-looking man stood at the entrance. If someone were standing here now, they would be surprised to find that as soon as they looked away from his face, they would immediately forget that he was there.

He stiffly lifted his foot, and suddenly, the man vanished from the spot.

A phantom flickered continuously within the cemetery, as if searching for something.

Suddenly, the man's actions seemed to trigger some kind of medium, and the sky suddenly turned black, the surrounding environment immediately became extremely dark, the collapsed high-rise buildings in Dahai City disappeared, and the entire cemetery seemed to have entered a supernatural space.

The flickering figure stopped and looked at the surrounding tombstones. The numbers on them had been changed to traditional Chinese characters, a counting method that was used decades ago.

Li Leping frowned slightly, then gently raised his arm, and wisps of black smoke billowed from his body, instantly filling the air with the acrid smell of burning corpses at a crematorium.

The black smoke was spreading rapidly in all directions, seemingly trying to engulf the entire cemetery.

A moment later, the black smoke stopped spreading, and Li Leping walked out of it.

"This cemetery is a bit too large..."

Looking around, the number of tombstones seemed to have increased, and even the ground beneath my feet began to change, feeling like stepping on a pile of rotten flesh.

"Invading reality?"

Suddenly, a strange sound came from the silent cemetery, as if someone was hitting a tombstone with a sharp weapon.

Ding ding ding...
The sound was eerily strange, as if the person knocking on the tombstone was right behind me, but when I turned around, the sound became extremely faint.

Li Leping immediately walked towards the source of the sound, but the knocking sound was sometimes loud and sometimes soft, and after walking for about five minutes, he still could not see anything unusual.

Suddenly, the knocking stopped.

Li Leping immediately activated his Ghost Domain and arrived at the place where the sound disappeared.

My gaze fell on a tombstone in front of an old grave. The tombstone looked very ordinary, as if it were made of common stone.

However, the writing on it looked as if it had just been chiseled on, crooked and twisted, with dark red bloodstains remaining between the strokes, making it look extremely eerie.

The writing was barely legible in the dim light.

"Li Leping".

Just then, a sudden feeling of loss of control struck, and his feet slipped into the air, half of his body sinking into the mud.

He instinctively tried to struggle to get up, but his feet seemed to be gripped tightly by something, pulling him down.

"The pattern of murder... its name?"

Li Leping did not panic, but calmly looked at the name on the tombstone.

The next second, the three large characters blurred for a moment, as if they were about to disappear, but then the characters suddenly trembled and reappeared clearly on the tombstone.

Li Leping pulled his feet out, stepped out, and looked at his name.

"The blood is gone, but the words remain. The name was merely a medium; the blood was the source of the supernatural attack. But something that could even etch my name..."

I reached out and touched the handwriting; there was nothing unusual about it.

"I can't forget the existence of the characters themselves; they must have been carved with some kind of terrifying supernatural object. It seems I've found the right direction." Without taking any further action, Li Le calmly stood in place, waiting for the next attack.

"Now that I've triggered the killing pattern, this ghost will continue to attack me. The name is still there; it won't carve it again."

The next wave of attacks came one after another, and his vision suddenly began to blur violently, as if someone had put a burlap sack over Li Leping's head.

A cloud of acrid black smoke suddenly billowed out, and when Li Leping could see clearly what was in front of him, an old man stood quietly in front of the tombstone.

Dressed in a black burial suit, looking withered and covered in foul-smelling mud, he held a rusty coffin nail in his hand.

Li Leping's gaze immediately locked onto the coffin nails.

Just then, the old man in front of him suddenly moved. He reached out and touched the name of Li Leping on the tombstone. The instant he touched it, dark red blood quickly filled the entire name along the strokes.

As if triggering some kind of murder pattern, Li Leping suddenly found himself completely unable to move. When he looked around again, he realized that the soil had buried him, making him look like a grave mound from a distance.

The surrounding black smoke rapidly converged towards him, and Li Leping's figure flickered incessantly, like a light bulb that might go out at any moment.

Meanwhile, the bloodstains on the tombstone slowly faded away along with Li Leping's flashing light, and the surrounding soil gradually became loose.

Suddenly, Li Leping reached out and appeared beside the old man, grabbing his arm tightly and squeezing so hard that he broke the old man's arm, which fell to the ground along with the coffin nails.

"This ghost is too dangerous. It can kill people as soon as you know its name... We can't let it go."

Picking up the coffin nails, Li Leping threw the old man directly into the pit that had just trapped him.

A thick cloud of smoke suddenly appeared beneath the plaque of Fushouyuan Garden, and Li Leping emerged, clutching a coffin nail.

Picking up the phone, Li Leping said, "I got it, but something's wrong with this cemetery. There's a ghost inside, and I don't have time to completely imprison it. You need to send a few people over to handle the aftermath and investigate this cemetery as well."

Wang Xiaoming's voice came from the other end of the phone: "Understood. I've contacted Ye Zhen and Fang Shiming, so this surprise attack on the foreign country..."

Li Leping interrupted Wang Xiaoming and continued, "Our previous deal still stands. Whether it's protecting you or going abroad, you have to help me deal with that ghost in 301 after it's over. Recruit the captain as soon as possible. My condition doesn't allow me to leave Dachuan City for too long."

After hanging up the phone, Li Leping glanced back at the three large characters "Fushouyuan" and then his figure suddenly disappeared from the spot, as if he had never been there.

In Dachang City, the streets are filled with the smell of firecrackers. As the Lunar New Year approaches, every household has put up the character "福" (Fu, meaning good fortune), and many children are playing with small firecrackers in the streets and alleys.

Even though the people of this city are still recovering from the fear of the starving ghosts going out of control, it still can't stop people's anticipation for the Spring Festival.

A young man dressed as a manager was walking down the street when he stepped right on a firework.

"Bang!"

The sound of children laughing immediately came from nearby.

Upon seeing the young man looking over, the group of children immediately scattered and ran away.

"Ouch!" The fastest child ran headfirst into the young man's leg.

He crouched down and patted the child's head.

"Little friend, it's not right to scare people like that." The young man took the lighter from the child's hand.

"Where are your parents? I'm suing you for blowing up my leg."

As he spoke, the young man pulled up his trouser leg, revealing a patch of skin covered in black lividity, which looked quite horrifying.

Realizing he had caused trouble, the child immediately covered his face and burst into tears, crying, "Waaah!! Waaah!!!"

"Will you dare to play with fire again next time?"

The child immediately said, "I won't do it again! I'll never do it again! Big brother, I was wrong!"

"Very good." The young man stood up, patted the child's head, and said, "Let's go. I'll let you off this time. But if I find you scaring people again, I'll go to your house and talk to your parents."

The child ran off in a flash after hearing this, and the young man stood up and picked up the phone again.

A woman's voice immediately came from the other end of the phone: "Cao Yang! Don't just disappear halfway through a conversation! It makes it hard for me to communicate with you!"
