Chapter 6 Three Months Later
The following days passed peacefully.
In the third month, under the elves' careful care, Caesar grew very quickly. He can now crawl and sit, and often asks Yumilia to read newspapers to him to learn about the outside world. He also tries to understand the contents of the newspapers based on what she reads. His resurrected brain is very capable, and he can now understand most of the contents of a newspaper on his own.
The baby's desire to sleep is still too strong. He is only awake for two or three hours a day. Sometimes he will fall asleep on the newspaper while reading.
In fact, if ordinary parents saw their three-month-old baby intently reading a newspaper, they would definitely be shocked.
However, this elf's thought process was somewhat abnormal. Upon seeing a baby reading a newspaper, the first thing he thought was that it would affect the baby's eyesight, so he moved the baby away from the newspaper before letting him read it.
However, after this period of time, her parenting experience has improved a lot, and she is more adept at taking care of him. At least she won't get scalded by unsuitable water temperature like before.
Every day I feed him, change his diapers, bathe him, massage his body, and rock him to sleep.
The little elf, even now, really does look a bit like a mother.
Although from Caesar's perspective, it still looks a bit like playing house.
According to the information he obtained from the newspapers during this period, the country he is currently in is indeed called the Kingdom of Fein, which is very powerful. He also learned about another very powerful country called Surna.
Judging from the tone of the newspaper, the two seem to be at odds.
He also learned about a country called the Duchy of Uthrull, which was actually founded by orcs.
These big, dumb idiots with nothing but muscle in their brains actually managed to establish an independent country.
It's important to understand that unifying the orcish tribes was the most troublesome thing. They had at least a thousand tribes, each with its own language and script. Moreover, these roughnecks were really not reasonable people to reason with. Their level of education was so low that they were practically born with prenatal education. Anyone who could do arithmetic up to ten could be a strategist.
Trying to transform them is practically like ascending to godhood.
Now that they've established an independent nation, Caesar is curious about what their schools are like.
Furthermore, only some scattered information was obtained, with no intelligence regarding the Eldaria Empire.
His empire, like every dynasty before it, has become part of history.
Now he really wants a history book; as a pioneer who initiated unification, he wants to know how history will judge him.
Unfortunately, this elf isn't very interested in history, and there isn't a single related book in the house. These days, the fun is teaching him to talk.
"Mom—Mom—Mom."
The elf was holding Caesar on his lap and earnestly repeating a word over and over in front of him.
"Mom—Mom, I—" She pointed to herself with one finger and continued repeating earnestly:
"Mommy, it's Mommy."
Caesar: "_"
Seeing that Caesar did not react, Yumilia showed a troubled expression.
"It's been so long, why can't you speak yet?"
She picked up a rattling hammer and shook it in front of Caesar, but it didn't interest him at all.
She put down the maracas, then covered her face with her hands, and suddenly opened her palms to make a face at Caesar.
"Wow!"
Caesar: " ̄ー ̄*"
"It still doesn't work," Yumilia pouted in disappointment. "Everyone else's babies love to smile, so why is Caesar the only one who doesn't?"
Ever since Caesar hatched from the egg, Yumilia had never seen him smile; he always had a dry, expressionless face.
When she went to other homes with children, even the babies who were over a year old were very receptive to this act, giggling nonstop when she made a funny face.
Only Caesar always had a perpetually serious expression, having already transcended such vulgar tastes at a young age.
"Hmph, childish and pointless behavior," Caesar thought, looking at the little elf who was trying so hard to make him laugh. Yumilia thought for a moment, then stretched out two fingers, one on each side of Caesar's mouth, and pulled them upwards.
Caesar waved his little hands and slapped her hand away.
Seeing that Caesar didn't respond no matter how she tried to coax him, Yumilia had no choice but to give up, picked him up and placed him on the sofa, and prepared to do housework.
However, after she got up, she suddenly turned around, grabbed Caesar's stomach with both hands, and started scratching it.
The three-month-old baby already showed signs of neurological response, and Caesar immediately tilted his head back and giggled.
"She's smiling, she's smiling, even little Casey is smiling!" Yumilia said happily.
"Aren't you bored?!" Caesar thought angrily as he dodged her hand and crawled away.
Seeing Caesar's smiling face, Yumilia was satisfied and got up with a smile to get busy.
"They're growing too slowly. When will they ever be able to get out of this house?" Caesar thought to himself.
Logically, since he was resurrected by the sacred artifact, essentially living a second life, shouldn't his growth rate be faster than normal? But now, why does he seem no different from a normal child, or even a little slower?
Since there was no precedent for this, he wasn't quite sure about it either.
In short, we'll be at the mercy of this elf for a few more years.
"The Emperor's Passion..."
He looked up and sighed.
There was a knock on the door.
"coming!"
Yumilia ran to open the door, where her neighbor, Mrs. Bell, stood.
“Yumeria, Mr. Gross is here again, he’s at the village entrance now. If you need anything, you’d better go there now,” Mrs. Bell said to her.
Mr. Gross is a traveling merchant who appears at irregular intervals, carrying a cart full of goods and bringing rare items that are not even found in the city.
“Thank you for reminding me, Mrs. Bell. I’ll be there in a bit,” Yumilia said politely.
After she finished tidying up, she wiped the water off her hands on her apron.
Caesar then started yelling and stretched out his hands, as if he wanted a hug.
"Not now, Caesar. Mommy has to go out now. I'll play with you when I get back." Yumilia went up and ruffled his hair.
But Caesar stubbornly pointed his little finger toward the door.
"Do you want to come along too?" Yumilia guessed.
“That’s true. It’s not good to keep the baby at home all the time. They need to go out for a walk.” The little elf nodded.
So she picked up Caesar, pushed open the door, and went out.
Caesar had been waiting for this opportunity. About two months ago, this Mr. Gross came by once, but he didn't pay much attention to it at the time. However, he later heard from other villagers that Mr. Gross also sold books.
Now, if he wants to get a history book, he has to go to the town at least three kilometers away. Since he can't speak now, he can't express to Yumilia his desire to go to town to buy a book. So, Mr. Gross is his only chance to get a history book and learn about the past.
