Chapter 41 Sea Breeze, Elves, and Little Dragon
Chapter 41 Sea Breeze, Elves, and Little Dragon
Caesar's past concept of the ocean, to be more specific, was that of a shrewish old woman with a dark face and a black mouth, who would yell at you and spit in your face if you touched her even slightly, and if you weren't careful, she would catch you and slap you hard across the face until you were lying on the ground.
But when I saw her again today, I found that the old lady had become a gentle and shy young girl.
After a day and a night on the train, as it emerged from the mountains, everything unfolded before them like a painting through the train window.
The boundless blue sea, illuminated by the sunlight, resembles a large, shimmering sapphire. The horizon is blurred, and waves surge in in lines, carrying white foam as they are pushed onto the beach.
Surrounding the sea is a crescent-shaped bay, with buildings of gray-white walls and light blue roofs arranged in a stepped pattern, interspersed with clusters of lush green coconut trees, instantly reminding Caesar of the scenery along the Aegean coast in his previous life.
This is Brown Bay, a tourist destination in the Kingdom of Finn, and also ranked by the most authoritative "New Times" as one of the top ten tourist cities one should visit in one's lifetime.
The guesthouse was booked in advance via email. The room was a double room with a tropical city style, featuring straw mats on the floor and decorations made of seashells and conches.
Although there is only one bed, it is big enough that three people can sleep comfortably without feeling cramped. There is also a large floor-to-ceiling window and a balcony, where you can see the entire Brown Bay landscape.
Upon arriving at the guesthouse, we didn't even rest for a moment. After putting down our luggage, we couldn't wait to go to the beach.
A warm, salty sea breeze swept over me, accompanied by the sound of crashing waves. It was still early, and there were only a few scattered parasols on the beach. Among them, several elegant ladies in one-piece swimsuits were leisurely sunbathing, wearing sunglasses.
"This is the first time I've seen the ocean!" Yumilia exclaimed. "It's so beautiful!"
Ita looked at the boundless ocean before him and opened his mouth:
"well."
“So beautiful?” Caesar said it for her.
"So much water!" Ita exclaimed.
"."
Xiaolong took off her sandals and ran happily on the beach, the sea breeze blowing her short hair.
"Ita! Slow down, be careful not to step on the loose stones!" Yumilia reminded her from behind.
Today, Yumilia finally changed out of her long dress and apron that she hadn't worn for a year and put on a lace-trimmed sundress. The sea breeze blew her gray hair and the hem of her dress, making her look like a pure white rose blooming on the beach.
She bent down and took off her strappy sandals, stepping barefoot onto the soft sand. Warm waves washed over her fair insteps, leaving specks of white foam on the beach.
“It feels so good! Caesar, you should try it too!” she said, turning to Caesar.
"Actually," Caesar wanted to say that he had tried enough, but seeing Yumilia's joyful expression, he took off his shoes and stepped into the warm seawater.
"Isn't it great?" she smiled.
"Ah."
As Yumilia waded through the seawater, a wave suddenly crashed over her, causing her to lose her balance and fall to the side with a cry of surprise.
"Be careful."
Caesar grabbed her hand and pulled her back, preventing her from falling.
"Thank you, Caesar," Yumilia said with a sullen smile.
Holding Caesar's hand, she turned to look at the sea, a smile playing on her lips.
"My wish has finally come true today."
"A wish? To see the sea?" Caesar asked.
“Well, probably because of some longings. When I was alone, I always dreamed of seeing the sea. After I met Caesar, my wish became to come with Caesar,” Yumilia said softly.
"Was your yearning born from reading fairy tales?" Caesar asked. "Hmm, more or less," Yumilia replied after a moment's thought, but then her pretty face flushed, and she pursed her lips slightly as she said to Caesar:
"Don't laugh at me! I read fairy tales when I was very young, and I'm not interested in them now!"
"Know it."
Yumilia still kept in mind her mature demeanor.
But looking back, it seems that Caesar in his previous life also had an unattainable longing for the sea since childhood, but had never seen it. When he was reincarnated, he saw the sea for the first time when he was chasing a group of deserters. That first sight did not leave any impression on him. Later, he lived by the sea for a long time and became accustomed to the sea.
On the contrary, it was only when he saw the sea for the first time as a new person that he felt that a certain beautiful wish had finally come true.
“Caesar,” Yumilia whispered.
"Hmm?" Caesar snapped out of his reverie and looked at the beautiful gray-haired elf in front of him.
"Actually, there are so many places I want to go. Will Caesar be able to go with me in the future?" Yumilia said softly.
Her expression seemed to hold a hint of tentative anticipation.
Caesar's lips parted slightly as he gazed at the sea.
"Go when you have time."
"Caesar is so young and already knows how to flatter girls," Yumilia sighed.
“Yes, yes, I’ll definitely go with you whenever I have time,” Caesar said repeatedly, “but we need to save up enough money first.”
“Then I will work hard to earn money!” Yumilia said earnestly.
"I'll take Caesar to lots of fun places in the future! To see more of the world!"
"Alright," Caesar turned his head, somewhat embarrassed. "That was a bit cheesy."
"Caesar! Yumilia! Look! A huge jellyfish!"
Ita ran towards them with a large jellyfish on its head.
Caesar nearly fainted when he saw it.
"Throw it away! That's jellyfish!"
In the evening, we went to a popular seaside shop where you can eat all kinds of fresh seafood for five gold coins per person, including crabs, sea urchins, tuna, squid, and various tropical fruits that are so sweet they're almost cloying.
There is also a unique delicacy here, which is to soak a kind of crystal-clear small sea shrimp in a prepared sauce. When you swallow it in one bite, you can not only taste the sweetness of the sea shrimp, but also feel the unique experience of them jumping around in your mouth.
Caesar tasted a small cup, and felt a bit numb in his mouth after finishing it. Ita took a big gulp, and soon spat it out with a look of discomfort.
"It feels so strange," she said, sticking out her pink little tongue.
Yumilia, however, absolutely refused to try such a thing. She was more interested in the small plate of chilled seaweed salad, which had a refreshing minty taste.
After dinner, they took a walk on the beach at night before returning to the guesthouse. After washing away the smell of sea salt from the day, Ita and Yumilia fell asleep from exhaustion.
Caesar waited until they fell asleep before getting up, walking to the balcony, and looking down at the few lights on the street below.
In the corner of the light, a figure seemed to flash by.
His eyes narrowed slightly.
He had this feeling all day.
People have been watching them ever since they arrived in the city.
