Chapter 334 The Day I Go Home (6.2k)

I groggily woke up to the sound of birdsong. A ray of sunlight shone onto the bed, but it was brighter than yesterday's.
It looks like it's already morning.
Reaching out to touch it, the bed beside me was still empty, but the fragrance and warmth of the young girl still lingered.
"Ouch, my head hurts so much." Caesar sat up, clutching his head.
I guess it's because I went to bed too late, so I got up early today.
After getting dressed and washing up, he went downstairs and was greeted by that sweet aroma. Yumilia had already prepared breakfast and was waiting for him.
"Good morning, Caesar."
The little elf in the kitchen saw him come down and greeted him with a smile, just like always.
"Have a meal!"
The young mother put on a serious expression and said.
So he had no choice but to have breakfast with Yumilia first.
"What's the schedule for today?" Caesar asked.
"Well, there's nothing I really want to do."
Yumilia tilted her head and thought for a moment, then smiled and said, "Then, how about we go on a picnic together, at the windmill we saw yesterday?"
“Okay,” Caesar readily agreed.
After breakfast and tidying up the kitchen, Yumilia changed her clothes and ran downstairs to prepare the things for the picnic.
Tablecloth, umbrella, drinks, fruit, and snacks.
After tidying up, the two of them, carrying bamboo baskets, went out together.
"nice weather today."
Yumilia adjusted her sun hat. It wasn't summer yet, and the warm spring sun felt exceptionally comfortable on her skin, with a gentle breeze blowing and petals fluttering in the air.
They found an open space, laid out a tablecloth, and then simply enjoyed the peaceful moment.
"Caesar, try this, it's freshly baked today." Yumilia opened a box of pastries, which contained colorful little flower-shaped candies.
She picked one up, brought it to Caesar's lips, and watched him eat it.
"How is it?" Yumilia asked.
"Hmm, it tastes good, and the sweetness is just right," Caesar said.
“Right? I made it for Caesar, so I deliberately reduced the sweetness a bit,” Yumilia said with a smile.
She pushed the box in front of Caesar: "Here, these are all for you, eat up."
"Then, may I have a piece?" Caesar said.
“I just can’t do anything with you,” Yumilia said, picking up another pastry and holding it to Caesar’s lips with a smile.
"Come on, baby, open your mouth, ah—"
She gently coaxed him and fed the flower pastry to Caesar.
Caesar chewed on his pastry, still feeling a little embarrassed: "You're making me seem very childish."
“Isn’t that right? Caesar will always be my little baby~” Yumilia said happily.
Time passed slowly, and the clouds in the sky changed constantly.
"It feels so nice to have the wind blowing."
Caesar rested his hands on the ground, tilting his head back to enjoy the sunshine and breeze.
"Caesar, are you sleepy?" Yumilia asked.
"Yes, the wind feels so nice."
"How about we take a break?"
Yumilia smiled sweetly and patted her thigh.
"What if someone sees us?" Caesar asked.
“It’s nothing shameful,” Yumilia urged him. “Come on, come on.”
Caesar then lay down and nestled on his side on Yumilia's lap.
Resting my head on her soft thighs, smelling the girl's faint fragrance, with a gentle breeze blowing, it felt exceptionally comfortable.
Yumilia smiled and gently stroked Caesar's hair, then seemed to remember something.
"Oh right, I brought some cotton swabs. Perfect, I'll clean Caesar's ears."
She leaned forward, pulled the small bag over, and rummaged through it to find a small cotton swab.
"Don't move."
She gently cleaned Caesar's ears, making them tickle.
"Comfortable?"
"Um"
"Hmph, Caesar, you always loved it when I cleaned your ears. That's when you were at your quietest," Yumilia said.
“Because you can’t move when you’re cleaning your ears, you told me, if you’re not careful, your ears could get bruised,” Caesar said.
“Haha, you still remember?” Yumilia said.
Enjoying Yumilia's ear cleaning and her soft, fragrant embrace, Caesar was getting sleepy.
Enlid Residence.
A syringe of pale blue solution was injected into the vein. The ferocious expression on Enled's face had eased considerably, and with each breath, the black spots on his withered, twig-like arms quickly faded.
However, the faded spots quickly reappeared on his arm, albeit less densely than before.
"It seems the demon's spinal fluid won't last much longer either." His doctor sighed helplessly upon seeing this.
Enled silently pulled his clothes down to cover the dense spots, then took a cup of thick, pungent-smelling medicine prepared by the doctor. He brought it to his lips, frowned slightly, and then tilted his head back to drink it.
After finally finishing the drink, I closed my eyes and it took a long time for the painful feeling in my stomach to subside. "If this continues, you only have six months at most, that's the most optimistic estimate," the doctor said.
“There’s no need to worry about it,” Enled said calmly with his eyes closed.
"I still need cerebrospinal fluid, so continue to prepare it for me. As for the rest, don't worry about it."
The doctor sighed.
“Very well, I hope you can hold on, Your Excellency,” he said, bowing slightly as he stepped back, leaving behind a vial of medicine before exiting the room.
The secretary walked in.
“The ceremony is all prepared for the night of the hunt three days from now,” he said.
"Where's Cons?"
“He is ready to offer you the finest prey,” the assistant secretary said.
Enled nodded silently.
"Tell him to be careful."
"Yes, also, this is a recent survey on the movement of people in the capital, as well as a report submitted by the Emergency Management Bureau. All the information about the recent movement of sensitive personnel in the capital is here."
Enled waved his hand, indicating that he shouldn't see it.
“Read aloud a few names from the list to me,” he said.
"Yes, Duke Herman took his family on vacation to West Satili Island and has been there for the past month with no signs of leaving. General Linley also made a private trip to the Kingdom of Ogia, and there have been no unusual signs of him."
"In addition, there's young master Caesar, who recently returned to the countryside with Yumilia. According to intelligence from his informants in the town, he hasn't left the town so far,"
The assistant secretary looked up and asked, "Should we continue to observe them?"
"Continue. Report any signs of him leaving to me immediately."
"Yes."
Enled breathed a sigh of relief; the pain in his body had finally subsided thanks to the medication. He stared at the ceiling.
"Caesar."
His feelings toward this young man were complex. On one hand, he did need the abilities Caesar displayed; he was too important to him, even to the point of using Sia to lock him up. On the other hand, if his power could not be used for his own purposes, then he could only destroy it.
Furthermore, the rumors about Caesar behind his back did reach his ears, and he did not exhibit any absolute bias towards racism.
Therefore, it is very important to control and supervise him.
Life back in my hometown was relatively peaceful.
Although he had no companions and only chatted with the village elders a few times a day, the companionship that Yumilia alone could provide was more than enough.
He fell asleep in her arms every night and woke up in her arms again the next morning. During the day, they would stroll around town or have picnics in the countryside. Yumilia embraced everything about him and indulged his every whim. Somehow, as their relationship deepened, Yumilia displayed even more maternal instincts. She seemed to have returned to a bygone era, treating Caesar like a three- or four-year-old child, speaking to him with the same tenderness and enjoying it immensely. This habit wasn't a bad thing for him; he could enjoy Yumilia's unconditional care and love, and thus became completely immersed in that gentle embrace.
This morning he accompanied Yumilia to town. Now Yumilia really likes to buy a beautiful bouquet of flowers and put it in the room to create a romantic atmosphere.
"Good morning, Yumilia. Here, these flowers are for you." The florist smiled and handed her a bouquet of flowers.
"Thank you, Mrs. Fado, this is beautiful." Yumilia smiled as she accepted the gift, paid for it, and gave her a small box of pastries. After chatting for a while, she left with Caesar.
She walked along the road, holding flowers in one hand and Caesar's hand in the other, and asked with a smile, "Little Caesar, what would you like to eat today? I'll make it for you."
“Fried fish, or lamb chops, please,” Caesar said.
"Okay, then I'll make pan-fried lamb chops and fried cod today. I'll make them both for you," Yumilia said affectionately.
As they walked along, Caesar seemed to notice something and subtly glanced to the side.
“I need to go over there for a bit,” he told Yumilia.
"Huh? What's the matter?"
"Just going to the toilet."
"Okay, then don't go too far away, I'll worry."
"Know it."
Caesar and Yumilia parted ways, and she went to the market to buy the ingredients they needed for the day.
Caesar then walked into the woods.
He arrived at a quiet place and waved.
"Come out."
A dark shadow emerged from the ground, and two men, one tall and one short, dressed in blue overalls, were thrown out and lay motionless on the ground.
"Commander, we've found the people who were monitoring you. They were using the guise of working to loiter around town every day, but in reality, they were monitoring your daily activities," the shadowy figure said.
Caesar knelt down, took one of the men's hands, and from the shape of his hand and the characteristics of his fingers, he could deduce that this was a spy from within the kingdom.
"Heh, it seems you really don't trust me." He snorted coldly.
"Commander, what should we do?" the shadowy figure asked.
Caesar pondered for a moment, then pressed down on the heads of the two men, implanting the memory-altering technique. A moment later, the two men stood up as if sleepwalking, and walked together out of the forest.
“They upload intelligence about me every day, but it’s been edited by me, until the event is over,” Caesar said.
He said in a deep voice to the shadowy figure, "How are the preparations going over there?"
"Everything is ready," General Williamson speculated, adding that their operation would begin in four days.
Caesar nodded.
"I understand. Everything will proceed according to plan. Have them come to pick me up in four days."
"Yes."
