Chapter 98 Sir Gareth

Chapter 98 Sir Gareth

"Aidin, keep watch around." Kruze forced himself to calm down, his voice hoarse from panting.

He gently placed the package on the ground. The little creatures inside seemed to have calmed down a bit because they were no longer running and were far away from the dragon's might, but you could still sense that they were still shaken.

He walked over to Rezal and handed him a water pouch. "Drink some water and catch your breath. We're safe for now, but that dragon... I don't know if it will come back."

Rezal took the water pouch and gulped down several mouthfuls before he could even look at the ravaged mountain range behind him. His face drained of color, and he murmured, "That...that was a dragon? It was terrifying...we almost..."

Kruse nodded silently, his gaze once again turning to the Horner Mountains.

The disappearance of the dragon does not mean the crisis is over. What will become of those who ran away?

Why did this dragon suddenly appear here, and why did it suddenly leave?

Is all of this related to the panda cub he rescued, known as the "shape-shifting dragon"?

They rested for only half an hour, barely regaining some strength, before setting off immediately and returning at full speed towards Lion Fang Territory.

The atmosphere along the way was terrifyingly oppressive; everyone was silent, as if the roar of a dragon and the crackling sounds of a burning forest could still be heard.

When the familiar outline of Lion's Tooth finally appeared on the horizon, the three breathed a slight sigh of relief, but their steps quickened even further.

The castle's outline became clearer, and the soldiers patrolling the walls spotted their "disheveled" squad.

Before they even got close to the castle gate, a figure leaped out of a window on a high floor of the castle and landed steadily in front of them, kicking up a cloud of dust.

It was Wilstone who stayed behind to guard the territory.

His once composed face was now filled with shock and anger, and the powerful aura of a Silver Knight burst forth uncontrollably from his body as he sharply swept his gaze over Kruze and the other two.

Especially when I saw their tattered clothes, their tired expressions, and the conspicuous package in Kruse's arms, my heart sank.

"Young Master! Second Young Master! What happened to you...? Were you attacked by the rebels? What were the losses?" Wilstone's voice was filled with suppressed anger, clearly indicating that he was ready to immediately muster his troops and return to avenge his young master.

Still shaken, Rezal blurted out, his voice trembling with the pain of a near-death experience, "Uncle Wilstone! Not rebels! Dragons! We've encountered dragons! The team... the team got separated while fleeing!"

"A... a dragon?!" Wilstone's surging aura instantly froze, as if a bucket of ice water had been poured over him from head to toe. His angry expression froze, replaced by utter shock and horror.

He never imagined that the two young masters would encounter creatures that only existed in legends and nightmares.

He took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. His expression became extremely solemn and complex. He asked in a deep voice, "Did you see it clearly? Do you know... do you know what kind of dragon it is?" Understanding the opponent, even such a terrifying one, is a knight's instinct.

Rezal shook his head violently, his face still showing lingering fear: "No! We only saw a huge black shadow in the sky, it...it just breathed fire, and a large forest below...it was gone! We were only thinking about escaping..." Kruze then interjected, his voice relatively calm, but the content even heavier: "When we fled, we saw the direction the dragon's breath fell, roughly where Baron Hiddink's allies were fighting the rebels. That kind of devastating attack...I estimate that Baron Hiddink and his allies are probably doomed."

"What?!" Wilstone gasped, his face changing drastically. He instantly realized the gravity of the situation; this had far exceeded the mere danger the two young masters were in!
A baron and his allied forces may be wiped out, and a dragon suddenly appears, displaying devastating power, active in the Hornaci Mountains.

This means that the balance of power and security in the entire Campnor County, no, or even the wider region, will be completely shattered!

Lion Tooth Territory, being a territory adjacent to the mountains, was the first to be affected!
Wilstone immediately suppressed all his personal emotions, his gaze becoming sharp as an eagle's.

"Enter the city immediately! Close the city gates and strengthen security! Send out all light cavalry scouts to search for the missing personnel along your return route, while closely monitoring any movement in the direction of the Horner Mountains!" He quickly issued a series of orders, then looked at Kruze, his tone heavy, "Young Master, your safe return is a great blessing for Lion Fang Territory! We must convene an emergency meeting immediately to discuss countermeasures!"

Kruze nodded, holding the package in his arms, which contained three cave lion cubs and the mysterious "shape-changing dragon".

He glanced at the still-shaken Rezal and the loyal Aidin, then looked towards the distant Hornaci Mountains, which seemed to be shrouded in shadow.

The shadow of the dragon has truly loomed over Lion's Tooth Territory.

The days to come are unlikely to be peaceful.

The messengers, carrying urgent intelligence, headed to Lark Territory and the Earl's Mansion in Campino County. Before the sound of hooves had completely faded from the road, less than half an hour later, new dust rose on the horizon.

A heavily armored and imposing force appeared on the border of Lion's Tooth Territory, with the coat of arms of the Earl of Campino embroidered on its leading banner.

This was the vanguard force of two hundred knights, led by Sir Gareth, who were heading to support Baron Hiddink.

Upon receiving the urgent report from the sentry, Kruze knew the situation was dire and that Sir Gareth's departure would be tantamount to suicide.

He had no time to make further arrangements, and with only a few guards, he personally rode his horse to the middle of the road that Sir Gareth was bound to take, raising his arm to signal the group to stop.

"Sir Gareth! Please wait!" Kruse's voice was urgent. He even disregarded etiquette and went straight forward to grab the reins of Sir Gareth's horse.

The warhorse let out a disgruntled neigh, and Sir Gareth reined in its horse. He was a middle-aged knight with a resolute face and sharp eyes, and his brows carried the fierce aura of someone who had been through many battles.

Upon seeing that the person blocking their way was a young man, the deputy next to him quickly introduced him. The young man frowned, and his face instantly turned frosty.

If Kruze hadn't been Reyes's son, anyone else who dared to obstruct the troops like that would have been lashed out with a whip long ago.

"Boy?" Sir Gareth's voice was icy, filled with obvious displeasure and skepticism. "What do you mean by this? I have military duties to attend to, and I was ordered to rush to Baron Hiddink's aid. Can you take responsibility for delaying military operations?"
