Chapter 127 Sauce
In the tavern restaurant, the waiter enthusiastically recommended the roasted lamb chops, which were touted as "the best in Campino," and served them on the table.

Rezal and Elena cut off a piece with great anticipation and put it in their mouths. After chewing a few times, they both frowned slightly.

The lamb chops didn't taste as good as I expected...

The outer skin wasn't crispy enough, and although the meat inside was fairly tender, it lacked a rich and complex seasoning, offering only a simple salty taste and a faint muttony smell.

Compared to the venison steaks that the older brother, Kruse, occasionally grills in the wild using unique methods and with just the right amount of spices, the taste is far inferior.

Baron Reyes, however, ate with great satisfaction, nodding approvingly as he tore into the lamb chops.

Having been away from home for a long time, he had been eating coarse military rations while fighting on the frontier. Although he had tried Mrs. Patmore's newly developed stir-fries a few times after returning to his territory and found them novel and delicious, he had not had time to taste the food his son had made himself. His taste buds were still stuck in the past and thought that the roasted lamb chops in the tavern were already a rare delicacy.

He noticed that the two children were eating slowly and seemed uninterested. He put down the bones in his hands and asked in confusion, "What's wrong? Don't you like the lamb chops?"

Seeing his younger siblings' "tasteless" expressions, Kruse found it somewhat amusing, but not wanting to directly contradict his father, he simply tapped the table and said sternly, "You should be grateful to have anything to eat. Hurry up and eat your food. It's not so easy to get lamb chops at home."

After all, Lion Tooth Territory does not currently raise sheep.

Elena looked up, a hint of grievance on her face, and said softly, "Father, I just think... this lamb chop is a bit bland. It would be nice if there was some dipping sauce."

"Dipping sauce? That's easy!" Reyes said dismissively, immediately beckoning to the servant beside him to fetch some dipping sauce from the kitchen.

Soon, a servant brought over a small earthenware bowl containing a thick, dark green sauce.

Reyes skillfully tore off a piece of bread, dipped it in the sauce, and then demonstrated by taking a bite. He said to the children, “Look, this is how you eat it. It’s made by simmering salt, chopped wild nettle leaves, and butter. It’s a common way to eat it in Camp Nou.”

Elena looked at the bowl of bright green dipping sauce, which didn't look very appealing, hesitated for a moment, then carefully dipped the tip of her fork into it and put it into her mouth.

"Ugh...so salty!" A strong salty taste and the slightly pungent, grassy smell of nettle leaves instantly filled her mouth. The little girl squinted her eyes immediately, her face scrunched up, and she quickly grabbed her water glass and gulped down several mouthfuls. "It's awful!" she commented without any politeness.

Rezal also tried it, but was similarly deterred by the overly harsh saltiness and strange grassy taste, feeling that it was better to just eat the bland lamb chops.

Seeing his sister-in-law's pained expressions and his father's slightly embarrassed look, Kruse shook his head helplessly.

He reached into his bag, which was wrapped in small pieces of tanned leather, and took out a small, sealed earthenware jar.

"Try this!" He opened the earthenware jar, and a slightly spicy and unique aroma wafted out. "This is made by grinding mustard seeds myself, and I added some vinegar and honey to taste."

He smeared a little of the pale yellow, smooth sauce on Elena's and Rezal's lamb chops respectively.

The two of them took a bite with some skepticism, and their eyes immediately lit up!

The slightly spicy, refreshing, uniquely fragrant, and slightly sweet taste instantly neutralized the greasiness of the lamb chops and enhanced the freshness of the meat. It was a world of difference from the green "monster" from before! "Wow! Big brother, this is so delicious!" Elena exclaimed in surprise and began to eat the lamb chops dipped in the new sauce with gusto.

Rezal nodded repeatedly, his appetite greatly increased.

Reyes watched the children's attitude change instantly, then glanced at the unassuming but surprisingly effective sauce in Kruse's hand, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.

Reyes, intrigued by the unique spicy aroma, disregarded his pride and said directly to Kruze, "Give me some too."

Kruse smiled and used a knife to pick up some pale yellow sauce, spreading it on the bread in front of his father.

Reyes took it and put it in his mouth to savor it.

The next second, his eyes suddenly lit up! The pungent spiciness that irritated his nose disappeared in an instant, followed by the rich aroma of yellow mustard, mixed with the sweetness of honey and the mild sourness of vinegar. It did not mask the original flavor of the lamb chops, but instead brought out the deliciousness of the meat to the fullest. It was completely different from the monotonous saltiness or the strange green dipping sauce in his memory!

"Great! This tastes really good!" Reyes couldn't help but praise, then asked curiously, "Kruze, what is this made of? I've never eaten it before."

Kruse calmly explained, "Father, these are seeds of a plant called mustard seeds that I collected in the wild. I ground them into powder, fermented them, and then added melted butter, a little honey, fruit vinegar, and salt to slowly mix them."

He deliberately simplified the process, omitting some of the details of the exploration and experimentation.

Just then, Mrs. Winnie strolled over gracefully. She had clearly had a good night's rest, getting up later than usual, and her face carried a touch of languid charm.

Her gaze was initially fixed on Reyes, but it was quickly drawn to the jar of sauce on the table, which emitted a unique spicy aroma.

Although she hadn't tasted it yet, the enticing aroma had already made her eyes light up.

"Reyes, what delicious food are you eating? It tastes really special," Mrs. Winnie asked with a smile, her gaze shifting between the sauce jar and the delighted expressions on the faces of the group.

Reyes was in a good mood and generously tore off a piece of the tenderest lamb chop from his plate, skillfully spread some mustard on it, and handed it directly to Mrs. Winnie. "Try it, it's something my son came up with himself."

Mrs. Winnie showed no sign of disgust, taking it naturally and taking a light, elegant bite. As she chewed, her eyes lit up instantly, her languid expression replaced by surprise.

"Mmm! This flavor... is so unique, but it's really delicious!" She couldn't help but take another bite before looking at Kruze and asking with great interest, "Kruze, did you really make this sauce? What's it called?"

Kruse, who had only had a fleeting idea for business negotiations and hadn't held out much hope, suddenly had a bright idea when he saw Mrs. Winnie's reaction. His opportunity had arrived!

His face displayed a perfectly measured smile, neither too eager nor too confident in his product.
