Chapter 11 Elvish
Chapter 11 Elvish
Butler Buffet's calm statement was like the sharpest ice blade, instantly piercing through all his carefully constructed fantasy fortresses!
Apprentice Knight!
These four words, in this world, especially in a knightly family like theirs, represent the law, orthodoxy, and the insurmountable ironclad rule of inheritance!
Kruse Lion is no longer the "trash" he can mock at will.
He has already crossed that insurmountable barrier and now has the rightful foundation to inherit the Lion Fang Territory's identity and power!
And all of Rezal's ambitions, all his plans, and all his hopes for the future were shattered by this cruel reality at this moment!
Baffel looked at Rezal, who was utterly dejected, as if all his bones had been removed, and a complex emotion flashed in his eyes, which ultimately turned into a deeper sigh.
He didn't say anything more, silently walked past the stunned second young master, and continued to carry out the eldest young master's orders.
Rezal was left standing there, frozen in place, like a statue frozen by the wind and snow, as if the whole world had collapsed before his eyes.
Not far away, a petite figure stood quietly on the stone steps of the castle's back gate, taking in the entire tense standoff that had just taken in.
Elena's emerald eyes were filled with worry beyond her years and a hint of sadness that was hard to detect.
She didn't understand those complex power and ambitions, but she instinctively sensed the despair and anger emanating from her second brother, Rezal, like a cold black mist that frightened her.
What she least wanted to see was her two brothers turning against each other and fighting each other with swords drawn.
"Second Brother!" Elena's clear and sweet voice, like a mountain stream, carried a comforting power and suddenly rang out, breaking the suffocating silence around Rezal and pulling him back from the edge of despair.
Rezal jolted, as if waking from a dream. He turned his head stiffly and saw his sister Elena running towards him, lifting her skirt, her face filled with pure concern.
That innocent little face, like a faint but warm light, pierced through the gloom that shrouded his heart.
Almost instinctively, he forced a smile, but it was stiff and strained, the pain and confusion deep in his eyes still clearly visible. "Elena... Elena," his voice was hoarse as he tried to make his tone sound normal, "Have you... finished your homework for today?"
This was the only clumsy topic he could think of at the moment to distract himself.
Elena ran up to Rezal, keenly sensing the immense pain and fragile vulnerability behind her second brother's smile. Instead of pointing it out, she immediately pouted her pink lips, deliberately feigning a wronged and coquettish expression: "Oh dear, second brother! I've been studying aristocratic etiquette and arithmetic for so long, my eyes are blurry! My head is spinning! Can't I just rest for a bit?"
She shook her little head like a rattle, trying to dilute the heaviness with her childlike willfulness.
Then, she reached out her little hand and gently tugged at Rezal's stiff sleeve, tilting her head up with expectant light in her emerald eyes. Her voice was soft and sweet as she pleaded, "Second brother, come fishing with me! The fish in the stream behind the castle are so fat! I haven't had fresh fish in ages, I'm so hungry! Please, second brother? Just come with me for a little while?" Fishing? This simple, almost childish request felt like a rope thrown to a drowning person.
Looking at the pure, unadulterated expectation in his sister's eyes, and at her small figure trying to pull him out of despair, Rezal felt a crack quietly appear in the cold, resentful, and frustrated wall in his heart.
A complex mix of emotions—bitterness, warmth, and helplessness—surged up.
He wanted to escape this suffocating place, even just for a moment, to escape the cold reality, to escape the immense shadow of Kruze becoming a trainee knight… to go to the riverbank, just him and Elena, like when they were children…
The idea carried a heartbreaking allure.
He was silent for a few seconds, then finally, his stiff smile seemed to melt a little. He raised his hand and awkwardly ruffled Elena's soft chestnut hair, his voice low but carrying a barely perceptible tenderness, almost drowned out by pain:
"Okay... Second brother will go fishing with you."
At this moment, he was no longer the ambitious second young master, nor the loser crushed by reality; he was simply... a brother willing to go fishing with his sister.
Elena's face instantly lit up with a radiant smile, as if all the gloom had vanished. She cheerfully took Rezal's hand and skipped and hopped towards the stream behind the castle, seemingly wanting to leave all her unpleasantness far behind.
Rezal, letting his sister hold his hand, couldn't help but glance again toward the wasteland, a deep gloom and confusion flashing in his eyes, which he then forcibly suppressed, following the small, hopeful figure, temporarily escaping the reality that broke his heart.
"Ding!"
That familiar, cold, and direct notification sound echoed once again deep within Kruze's mind:
[New player quest: Farmland Development (Part 1) Completed!]
Quest Reward: Ancient Lost Elvish Language (Basic Edition) - Teleportation Initiated!
"Teleportation?" Just as a hint of doubt arose in Kruze's mind, a violent, complex, and icy torrent of information rushed into the depths of his consciousness like a floodgate being opened, without warning and with brute force!
"Ugh—!" Caught off guard, Kruze let out a suppressed groan of pain, clutched his head with both hands, and swayed violently, almost falling to the ground!
The feeling was like countless red-hot steel needles were frantically piercing his brain, forcibly imprinting countless strange runes, awkward syllables, and complex grammatical rules into it!
The intense pain made his vision go black, and cold sweat instantly soaked his back.
"Young Master!" Wilstone, who had been keeping a close eye on Kruse's movements, suddenly changed his expression. He rushed to his side, firmly supporting his swaying body, his voice filled with urgency and concern, "What's wrong?! Are you feeling unwell?"
Kruze clenched his teeth, his temples throbbing. Several breaths later, the excruciating pain that felt like it was tearing his soul slowly receded like a tide.
He took a few deep breaths, barely suppressing the churning blood and dizziness, and forced a pale smile at Wilstone, his voice weak and strained:
"No...it's nothing. I've probably been too focused on cultivating my battle qi these past few days, and my mind has been overexerted, so I have a bit of a headache...I'll be fine after a rest." He found the most reasonable excuse.
