Chapter 74 Divide the Meat
As dusk fell, the four men took turns carrying the two trawl nets, resting as they made their way back.

Fortunately, Qin Ziwen had traveled this road several times and knew roughly where the slopes and bumps were, thus avoiding many unnecessary detours.

The sun was setting in the west, and darkness enveloped the forest.

"Ow~"

The harpy eagle let out a cry.

The four of them stopped.

Qin Ziwu raised his flashlight and shone it forward, but saw no trace of anything.

"There! In the tree!" Zhao Pu pointed to the branches on the right front.

There was a leopard lying there.

This leopard is over two meters long, and its pupils reflect a ghostly green light when illuminated by a flashlight.

Realizing it had been discovered, the leopard leaped down from the tree branch and disappeared into the woods in the blink of an eye. But whether it was just his imagination or not, looking at its back, Qin Ziwen felt that its movements were not quite fluid.

The four men dragged the pork for a while longer.
But soon, the harpy eagle let out a wary cry.

The four people stopped, stood back to back, and formed a circle.

Shining the flashlight around, they soon spotted the leopard that had just left behind a bush.

The leopard crouched in the grass, staring at the four people. It glanced at the harpy eagle above its head, then turned and ran away.

Deng Guang's expression was grave: "It shouldn't give up so easily. This guy must have his eye on the wild boar we killed."

Qin Ziwu gripped his spear tightly. "Ha, this working leopard dares to target our prey."

Qin Ziwen put down the long vine in his hand, straightened up, and rubbed his lower back. "This leopard has probably been starving for a few days after the flood."

"Horned Eagle, be careful! Be safe," Qin Ziwen reminded the horned eagle flying overhead.

The harpy eagle's injuries have not fully healed; it has only barely regained its ability to fly and cannot engage in strenuous exercise. Moreover, the leopard is quite adept at climbing trees.

The four of them had just walked a short distance when a sound suddenly came from a tree not far away.

"Ho—woo."

The leopard lay hidden behind a short, sturdy tree, watching the four people.

The sound we just heard came from it.

Is it a warning to us?

"Seems to be."

Qin Ziwu seemed to have heard the invitation to battle. He raised his spear and slowly walked forward. Upon seeing the spear, Jin Qianbao immediately stood up, slowly retreated, and then turned his head and disappeared into the darkness behind him.

Qin Ziwu waved his spear with a smug look on his face. "Interesting. It seems to know the power of my divine weapon."

"Alright, it's your turn to haul the pork. Give me back my weapon." Qin Ziwen said, then stepped forward and took the spear from his younger brother. "There's a downhill slope ahead, be careful not to fall."

Qin Ziwu, who hadn't even had a chance to warm up to the spear, regretfully returned it to his elder brother, saying, "Brother, could you help me find a weapon for myself sometime?"

"no problem."

Zhao Pu glanced at the spear in Qin Ziwen's hand. The iron spearhead, the nearly thirty-centimeter-long spearhead, and the insidious blood groove—in his eyes as a doctor, it was simply a deadly weapon. Not to mention wild boars, even tigers would not survive if they were stabbed in a vital spot.

Of course, the premise is that you can hit the tiger's weak spot.

The four of them walked down the slope and then walked forward for another ten minutes or so.

The forest was filled with the chirping of insects.

"Ow~"

The harpy eagle issued a warning.

The group stopped and searched around. They spotted the leopard for the fourth time behind a tree to their right.

This time, the leopard didn't leave. Instead, it raised its head, stared at the harpy eagle above, and let out a low growl.

It gripped the tree trunk with its claws and struggled to climb upwards. Finally reaching a high point, the harpy eagle spread its wings and flew to another tree in the distance. "Ha!!!" The leopard stared intently at the harpy eagle on the other tree, its eyes filled with indignation, and hissed in dissatisfaction.

It's clear that it's really in a hurry.

Climbing up the tree is easy, but getting down is difficult. The leopard slowly climbed down and finally jumped to the ground. Qin Ziwen noticed that when it walked, the posture of its right hind leg seemed a little wrong, possibly because it was injured.

The leopard stared at the four people, then slowly turned around.

Deng Guang hesitated and said, "How about we throw it a piece of meat? Otherwise, this thing will keep bothering us. It's not good for it to keep bothering us like this."

Qin Ziwen thought for a moment, took out a pig's heart from the plastic bag in his bag, cut the pig's heart in half, and threw one half far away.

"Crack~"

The pig's heart fell into the grass.

The leopard, with its back to the four people, was so frightened that it stumbled and quickly disappeared into the dense forest.

After the four people had gone far away, the leopard quietly returned to its previous spot, sniffing the air incessantly.

Following the scent, the leopard finally found half a pig's heart hidden in the grass.

It sniffed it, observed its surroundings, then grabbed the heart, climbed the tree, and began to devour it.

It wasn't until the moon was high in the sky that the four of them finally returned to their neighborhood.

They carried the pork all the way to Zhao Pu's house on the fourth floor.

Hearing the door open, Zhao Shuheng stood up from the living room sofa. By the moonlight from the window, he recognized his father and breathed a sigh of relief.

The four men placed the two pig carcasses on the ground.

Zhao Shuheng only saw two large, dark lumps on the ground.

Zhao Shuheng walked over and called out, "Dad, Uncle Qin, Brother Qin, Uncle Deng."

Uncle Qin?
Qin Ziwen was taken aback, but he didn't pay much attention to this trivial matter.

He and Zhao Pu were of the same generation, and it was perfectly acceptable for his son to call him "uncle."

Qin Ziwu, on the other hand, felt that he had been taken advantage of. Why did they have to call him "elder brother"? Wasn't that making him a generation younger than Lao Deng and Lao Zhao?

Zhao Pu pointed at Qin Ziwen and said to his son, "This is the wild boar that your Uncle Qin killed outside. He single-handedly took down a wild boar weighing over 300 jin with just a spear."

Zhao Shuheng's eyes widened as he looked at Qin Ziwen with admiration. "So amazing!"

"It's not that exaggerated." Qin Ziwen waved his hand, but couldn't stop smiling.

This spear is indeed very useful.

No wonder our ancestors were able to use it to conquer their contemporaries.

Qin Ziwen said to everyone present, "Let's divide this meat. My brother and I will take one slice, and you two can share the other."

Deng Guang had long known that Qin Ziwen was generous to his own people.

This was Zhao Pu's first time accompanying Qin Ziwen on a hunt.

His expression changed when he heard that he would actually get a quarter of it.

Qin Ziwen joked, "What, you think it's not enough?"

"No, no, that's too much. Besides, you're the main force in killing wild boars. I'll only get about a tenth of it." Zhao Pu stammered. He hadn't expected them to be so generous. He was just a newcomer, and he felt like he hadn't played much of a role in the wild boar hunt.

Zhao Shuheng's eyes widened. My dad got so much pork? Does that mean I can finally eat meat to my heart's content?

Qin Ziwen said, "It's not much. Everyone played their part. I believe in sharing the spoils with my own people. Since we're a team, as long as you don't desert or betray your teammates, you deserve what you get. Besides, you're the doctor in our team. Today was just lucky that no one was injured, so it wasn't your turn to use your expertise."

Upon hearing this, Zhao Pu, the gray-haired man, nodded emphatically.

He looked at Deng Guang, as if he knew why Deng Guang, who was clearly more than a decade older than Qin Ziwen, was willing to stay by his side. This Mr. Qin was truly magnanimous.
