Chapter 22 The Vampire's Curse

Chapter 22 The Vampire's Curse
Mo Yu walked through the horde of vampires, along the central red carpet, to the back of the chairs where there was a room, where a maid had already entered. Without pausing, he stepped directly into the room.

The air was cold, and the candlelight, though warm-toned, offered no warmth when it shone on people.

Elise sat on a bench with her back to the entrance. A maid stood beside her, holding a small brush, helping Elise groom her long, golden hair.

Several vampires were kneeling near the entrance, led by a woman.

Mo Yu knew her; she was number 7.

The other vampires were all elite-level, and he recognized some of them; they were the bait who had left via the other two routes during the operation this afternoon.

Elise's plan was meticulous.

Three vans left the amusement park from different directions. Mo Yu used rewind to stake out the location and accurately captured the vehicle transporting Mary.

The vampires trembled with fear.

The room was quiet, and the atmosphere was oppressive.

Even without words, Mo Yu could sense Iris's anger. He remained silent, waiting for Iris to make the first move.

Crimson thorns peeked out from under the bench, then grew wildly, like a predatory python, extending and sweeping in all directions, instantly binding Mo Yu and the kneeling vampire.

The air blew violently out, most of the candlelight was extinguished, and the room became extremely dark.

Several vampires let out mournful howls, including Number 7, their bodies shriveling at a visible speed, while the blood-red thorns emitted a hazy glow and grew stronger, as if they had just had a good meal.

"Big sister... Sister..."

Number 7 let out a desperate wail; she was the last to be drained, turning into a handful of black ash that scattered on the ground.

The maid paused slightly, then continued combing Iris's long hair with a blank expression, as if she were used to it.

Mo Yu remained motionless.

His entire body was covered in thorns, many of the sharp spikes piercing his skin and greedily sucking his blood. Other crimson thorns moved, forming a vortex around him that flowed continuously.

Elise spoke, her voice cold and indifferent: "Give me a reason not to kill you."

Mo Yu answered calmly and confidently, "You won't kill me."

“I need a reason,” Elise said, raising her voice.

The crimson thorns slowly contracted, their spikes compressing inwards little by little, beginning the countdown to death.

Mo Yu remained calm and said, "I saw it."

The spikes paused briefly before continuing to retract inward.

Mo Yu continued, "They were killed because their mission failed. It is this ruthlessness, suspicion, and caution that will help the young lady become the future emperor. As the last person to know about this operation, it is normal for me to be suspected."

The spikes continued to contract.

"My ability is to see future fragments that are related to myself, not the strategist that the young lady guessed."

"This future is not fixed; it changes depending on my choices. It is also because of this ability that I am hunted down by my enemies."

Mo Yu once again used his prophetic abilities to take the blame.

“Young Miss, did they mention Mary’s condition when she was sent there? I removed the tracking device from her, which I think is enough to demonstrate my abilities. Now, my abilities tell me that as long as I confess everything to you, Young Miss, I will not die.”

The spikes stopped.

Elise finally spoke: "Where did you go after you handed Mary over to Number 12?"

Mo Yu: "..."

The spikes retracted again.

Elise asked, "Why don't you answer?"

The maid spoke up, "Young Miss, isn't he with you?"

Elise said coldly, "Are you questioning me?"

The maid bowed and said, "Your subordinate wouldn't dare. Your subordinate checked his phone's location and found that after he left for the Volcano Castle, he has been following the young lady's side."

Elise: "?" Mo Yu coughed and reminded her at the right moment, "Young Miss, please turn around."

Iris turned around, puzzled, but froze on the spot after just one glance. She turned back and covered her face with one hand. How was she going to explain that her subordinate had followed her all afternoon without her noticing and had mistaken her for a handsome stranger trying to pick her up?

The maid was puzzled; she saw embarrassment and annoyance in the young lady.

Mo Yu smiled without saying a word.

After a while, Elise calmed herself down and said, "No... not enough, this is not enough."

Mo Yu continued:
"I don't want to admit it, but I have to say that the young lady is still in the stage of concealing her abilities and needs to improve her strength."

"The Rift Moon Organization, the two major demon hunter families in Black City, and the two major vampire families—these five forces are not something the young lady can contend with. This is why the young lady is so cautious."

"My abilities can help Miss, we need each other."

Elise said, "Tell me something I don't know, something that can truly prove your abilities."

Mo Yu: "Alice is not human."

He had to hand over this intelligence.

After a moment of silence, Elise said, "I will investigate. You may leave."

"Yes." Mo Yu stepped back, about to leave, but was stopped by Iris.

"Wait, come to me."

Mo Yu was somewhat reluctant, but still went around to the front of Elise.

Elise, dressed in a classic, plain-colored long dress, reclined gracefully on the bench. She beckoned to Mo Yu, signaling him to come closer and squat down.

Mo Yu stepped forward.

Elise stretched out her slender arms and wrapped them around his neck, her four sharp, small fangs piercing his neck.

Mo Yu felt a tingling sensation in her upper body and was unable to move.

What happened to the promise that servants aren't food?

Blood is being sucked.

As he hesitated about whether to rewind, he felt something being injected into his body.

Elise released him, took the handkerchief offered by the maid, wiped her mouth, and said:
"You can leave now."

What's inside me?

Mo Yu touched his neck; the wound had disappeared, and he felt something moving inside his body.

Elise replied, “My blood will slowly change your body, eventually turning you into a vampire. At that point, your Sequence abilities will also be disabled. I need to suppress it periodically; it’s a pre-conversion ritual, you can think of it as a curse.”

"Is this proof that we're on the same side?" Mo Yu probed. "Can you sense my condition through my blood?"

“I can sense my own blood,” Elise replied.

"Can it pinpoint the exact location of the blood? Or is it just a vague sensor?"

"What do you ask for this?"

"You know how the corpus cavernosum works, right? It's filled with blood, in case..."

"Shut up!"

A blush crept onto Elise's cheeks as she explained, "It's just a rough estimate of your location."

The maid gave Mo Yu a "you're awesome" look; she dared to flirt with the young lady.

“Then I’m relieved,” Mo Yu replied. He rewound slightly, cutting off his question and returning to the point after Iris said, “You can leave now.”

"Thank you! Thank you for your kindness, young lady."

Mo Yu feigned excitement, bowed, and stepped back. He could feel the foreign object in his body, and Iris's blood was flowing into his heart. He had already thought of a way to deal with it.
