Chapter 10 Lighthouse
"Hmm, let's talk about that later." Bai Yuekui pondered for a moment.

"Tasia's awakened potential is very valuable. Let's go look for her again after we understand the underlying principles."

If the super particle collider is really there, the equipment isn't going to grow legs and run away by itself, so it can be there anytime.

Bai Yuetian nodded, even though his entire body was just a head.

"Tasia? The little girl who did research with you?" He turned around and looked up at Bai Yuekui, his expression somewhat puzzled.

What happened to her potential?

Bai Yuekui casually found a chair, propped it up, and sat down with his legs crossed: "You'll know when you come to the ecological base in a couple of days."

"Fine, fine." Bai Yuetian pouted, too lazy to ask any more questions.

"And one more thing."

His little robotic hand tapped a few times on the keyboard, and a multi-layered, ring-shaped aerial fortress appeared on the screen.

“Tartarus?” Bai Yuekui narrowed his eyes.

“That’s right, this dilapidated prison has drifted to our continent.” Bai Yuetian put his hands on his round waist: “They probably couldn’t find supplies where they were originally staying.”

“Some settlements have taken in the people here. According to those who came down from Tartarus, they call this a long journey. The old and useless people are put down to feed the Devouring Beasts, so as not to waste resources.”

Bai Yuetian continued typing on the keyboard, and the image on the screen changed again, showing several elderly people dressed in simple clothes and looking frightened.

"Look, these are the only ones we managed to take in. The rest should have been drained by the Devouring Beasts."

Upon hearing Bai Yuetian's words, Yang Chen couldn't help but recall what Shan Da had said before: the Devouring Beasts could now mimic human cries for help to lure humans.

This is probably also related to Tartarus's arrival.

Bai Yuetian continued, "Orange, didn't you bring back a group of people from here a few years ago? According to those who traveled far away, the three laws on the lighthouse are still in operation."

"Based on the superiority or inferiority of their genes, the people above are divided into the Upper Class and the Mortal Class, the old world's family relationships are abolished, and emotions are forbidden."

Bai Yuetian's expression turned disdainful. This dilapidated tower used to be a prison, yet now it arrogantly calls itself a lighthouse.

What's even more disgusting is that the first lord of this damn thing was Gray, that bastard who took over my handsome and dashing body.

“However…” Bai Yuetian’s tone suddenly turned lewd, and his expression became lively, “The ‘Hall of Dawn’ they set up is quite interesting, isn’t it? They specifically pick people to do ‘breeding missions’ one-on-one…” He chuckled twice.

Bai Yuekui looked at him with a helpless expression, as if he were looking at a hopeless idiot.

"These are the people they're currently responsible for searching for supplies on the ground." Bai Yuetian finally composed himself and pulled up another picture.

The photo shows several people in heavy armor, working with a group of armed soldiers to fight against a horde of Devouring Beasts, with vehicles loaded with supplies parked nearby.

Gravity armor of the old world
The people on the lighthouse relied on the power armor and firearms of the old world to fight against the Devourers.

"According to the people we took in, the place they used to live in was overrun with Devouring Beasts, making it very difficult to find supplies."

"Too many people have already died on that continent before."

Yang Chen glanced at Bai Yuekui beside him. It seemed that she had gone up to that so-called lighthouse alone before.

But at that time, I happened to be out looking for supplies.

Medical supplies, construction supplies, and even animals that miraculously survived.

Later, when Yang Chen went to other continents to find supplies, he happened to encounter the lighthouse throwing corpses onto the ground again.

Fortunately, he had only been thrown down recently, and his life essence hadn't been taken by the Devouring Beasts. Otherwise, he would have had to find out which Devouring Beasts had absorbed his life essence.

Later, they used chicken talismans to take these corpses back to the village and reprint their bodies. These people also helped a lot with the later expansion of Dragon Bone Village.

"So, are we going to negotiate with that lighthouse now?" Yang Chen asked.

Bai Yuetian crossed his arms and shook his head: "No need, Master Lai said to just let nature take its course."

"Moreover, since you arrived, Master Lai's predictions have become inaccurate."

"But if you're really curious, you can go and take a look. Just remember to film the breeding process in the Dawn Hall for me. I'm quite curious." He changed the subject and leaned closer to Yang Chen again, looking rather sly.

"Anyway, you can become invisible, no one can detect you."

Before Bai Yuetian could finish speaking, he was interrupted by Bai Yuekui, who stood up, with a slap.

"Now that we've finished talking, let's head back."

Bai Yuekui's tone left no room for argument as he pulled Yang Chen out.

She didn't want her brain-dead brother to lead Yang Chen astray as well.

"Remember to help me set up the equipment; Tasia will need it in a couple of days." All that was left for Bai Yuetian was the departing backs of the two of them. Bai Yuekui lazily waved his hand.

Since Bai Yuetian is here, I'm too lazy to do anything myself; I'll just leave it to this 'idle'.

Bai Yuetian spoke passionately, his expression indignant, loudly accusing, "Hey! How can you treat your own brother like this?"

"Hey! How can you treat your own brother like this?! I'm very busy! And look at my body! How am I supposed to fix this?! Hey—!"

"There are people outside, ask them to help you." Bai Yuekui's voice drifted over from afar, carrying a hint of nonchalant ease.

Bai Yuekui, pulling Yang Chen along, walked out of Bai Yuetian's room filled with various screens and mechanical control panels without looking back. The metal door slammed shut behind them, shutting out Bai Yuetian's aggrieved accusations, which were accompanied by static.

Watching the two leave, Bai Yuetian sighed helplessly, "Hmph! What can I do? I'm your brother!"

The spherical body spun around in place, unwilling to give up, and a static-filled "Sigh—" came from the speaker. Its tiny mechanical hand tapped the control panel a few times in frustration, finally resignedly connecting to the external communication: "Hey! Hey, you breathing outside! Come in two quick hands!"

Outside the door is a clean and bright alloy corridor, with cool-toned lights shining down and illuminating the metal floor.

"Your brother's request..." Yang Chen couldn't help but ask, his tone tinged with a helpless smile.

Bai Yuekui released his hand, her steps still unhurried, but a barely perceptible smirk appeared at the corner of her mouth: "Well, after Gray took over his body, only his brain was left inside this ball. He's probably going crazy from being cooped up, or maybe there's something wrong with his brain itself." She paused, then added, "Don't pay attention to his nonsense."

Yang Chen nodded. He couldn't possibly go up to the lighthouse and then to that Dawn Hall to film people reproducing. Just thinking about that scene was bizarre enough.

Bai Yuekui continued, "As for the lighthouse, if any travelers come down next time, we can take them in. If we leave them unattended, the Devouring Beasts will absorb their source matter and accelerate their evolution."

As they spoke, they had already traversed a long corridor and arrived at a spacious elevator platform. Bai Yuekui pressed a button, and the platform silently started, carrying the two of them up to the next level.

"So... what's next? Back to the village?" Yang Chen asked, feeling a slight sense of weightlessness beneath his feet.

The elevator doors slid open silently, revealing the warm, soft light emanating from the heart of the ecological base. Bai Yuekui stepped out first, then stretched out with an extremely relaxed air.

"Let's rest for today. Playing games with Xia Dou is no fun. You can come back and play with me."

"walk slowly."
