Chapter 34 Killing Prisoners and Defection

Chapter 34 Killing Prisoners and Defection
In Iron Harbor, the knights and squires followed closely behind Ellina, their eyes filled with rage and hatred.

They hated their poor performance in the first battle and guessed what fate awaited their seriously wounded and dying knight companions.

They swore to let their swords drink the blood of their enemies, wash away the tarnish on their knightly honor, and roar in vengeance for the fall of their comrades!

Ellina charged ahead with her gun, heading straight into the fleet's base.

The sailors stationed there instinctively attacked Ellina.

The elven princess was incredibly fast. She wielded her spear in her right hand and swept it horizontally like a whip, smashing the chests of all the nearby sailors and sending them flying backward.

With his left hand, he conjured a roaring bolt of lightning. A lightning-killing sniper spell blasted the sailor on the watchtower who was drawing his bow and aiming into dust. The sailors, who had been full of murderous intent, were horrified and their expressions changed drastically, leaving them speechless.

In this world of swords and magic, magic is a mysterious concept that most people have "heard of but never seen," because learning to cast spells requires sufficient intelligence and at least a magical affinity, two points that can filter out more than 99 percent of humans.

People's stereotypes of sorcerers are: powerful, mysterious, not to be trifled with, and indiscriminately killing innocent people. In the end, this often leads to witch hunts in many remote rural areas, and the victims are mostly ordinary people who do not have the ability to cast spells.

"Kill the mage first!" a first mate shouted. "Kill that mage first!"

The sailors had no time to deal with the young knights who followed, and instead used their numerical advantage to quickly close in, covering each other as they launched a rapid attack from multiple directions.

To the sailors, the fairy princess's lightning magic was like an instantaneous crossbow bolt. Although dangerous and deadly, it could not be fired continuously like a barrage of arrows. They had to surround her to compress her offensive space!
However, Ellina's spear was even more formidable.

She adjusted her grip on the spear to the breech end, aiming for maximum attack range. At this weapon length, the sailors' scimitars would have to close in at least one or two steps before reaching her.

And this short distance determines the outcome of life and death.

Some tried to cut off the spear tip, but Ellina flicked her wrist and pierced their throats first; others rolled on the ground, trying to avoid her spear thrusts, but were stabbed right in the face as soon as they got up.

Her deeply abhorrent experience of slaughtering human slaves had long since honed Elrina into a battle-hardened killing machine. Even the equally powerful Bersalia was no match for her in pure battlefield combat.

When Kalicch and his entourage emerged from the cabin, they saw that this "imposter royalty" high elf woman had already slaughtered all the sailors on deck.

Silence is a form of unspoken fear.

Knowing that the situation was hopeless, the crowd simply threw down their weapons and surrendered.

The knights and squires filed forward and bound the men's hands.

Ellina looked at them coldly until her gaze landed on Kalic's face.

"Why attack Blood Fortress?" she asked in an icy voice.

Kalic seemed stumped by her question.

What else could cause nobles to kill each other? Self-interest, of course. Don't you know that?

Ellina remained silent for a moment, then instantly guessed the answer.

Profit, profit... Even a thousand years later, nobles still trample on morality for profit, even at the cost of innocent lives!

She suddenly raised her hand and unleashed a lightning spell, blasting Kalic's head to smithereens. "You actually killed a prisoner!" The bound followers roared and struggled in anger.

Ellina didn't say anything, but turned around and used lightning magic to blow their heads off one by one.

Suddenly, one of the high elves, still alive, knelt down and cried out:

“Merciful Vladsika! Your noble hands are not worthy of being stained with the blood of our lowly and sinful people! I am willing to confess all the sins and misdeeds that Kalic has committed in the past in exchange for your forgiveness and mercy!”

Ellina gave him a cold look and finally stopped killing.

She took out a handkerchief from her bosom, wiped her slender, fair hands, and said:

"Take them to Blood Fortress."

------------

Inside the Blood Fortress, Raine became even more furious upon hearing about Ellina's misdeeds.

Ellina, if you wanted to kill my uncle, why didn't you just kill him in the battle? Capturing him first and then killing him makes it seem like I gave the order to kill him at all costs!

Furthermore, even if you had killed all the prisoners, I would have pretended not to know. But what's the point of leaving a few alive?
“Ellina really didn’t handle this well.” Bersalia, observing Renn’s expression, said, “Should I clean up the mess for her?”

“The battle is over,” Renn said expressionlessly. “She no longer holds supreme command. I now appoint you to take over all her duties—including the interrogation of prisoners and the subsequent training and management of the knights’ squires.”

"Yes, Your Majesty." Bersalia performed a courtly curtsy and gracefully departed.

In the dungeon at the bottom of Bloodfortress, Ellina did nothing, and the high elf sailor who called himself Diamond Draculon confessed everything.

The Fahr family was able to smuggle goods with the High Elf Kingdom because they had established connections with the Drakron family. This High Elf family had held the position of Royal Scribe in the Royal Court for generations, roughly equivalent to the Prime Minister's secretary in the human empire, and therefore had the ability to provide the Fahr family with a certain degree of "favor".

Of course, there was a power struggle within the Fahr family between Kalic and Darion, and naturally, there was also a conflict between the direct and indirect branches of the Delacroix family, with both sides wanting to take the lion's share of the smuggling profits.

Diamond was originally a member of the direct line family, but he was nearly exposed due to a work "mistake" (he later strongly suspected that he was framed), which led to relentless pursuit by the branch family. In the end, the direct line family had no choice but to sacrifice and exile him.

He was a pirate for a time, but was forced to flee to the mainland to seek refuge with the Faher family due to the High Elf navy's extermination efforts. On the way, he encountered Kalic's escort fleet...

Just as Marquis Fahl hoped to use Ellina's identity to open another door within the High Elf Kingdom, Kalicch also wanted to use this member of the Draculorn family to try and get a share of the smuggling trade.

It's smuggling after all! As long as you can get the supply channels in, everything else is up to your own skill. If my family can smuggle, why can't I? As long as I can get the goods to the mainland, I can sell them too!
So Kalicch took Diamond under his wing, ostensibly for protection, but in reality for surveillance. Now that the traitor is finally dead, Diamond has finally broken free of his restraints.

He was willing to pledge allegiance to Lord Raine of Salt Isles, offering him maps of ocean currents from the mainland to the Gem Isles, including the high elf navy's patrol routes and schedules—all of which were in his head.

Ellina listened in silence, knowing that Diamond's words must contain a great deal of falsehood.

But what does that have to do with me?
If a naturally evil necromancer can be fooled by such a petty trick, then I need not worry any further.
