Chapter 33 Ayane House
Chapter 33 Ayane’s Family
It took more than an hour to assemble the doghouse that covers the entire crib.
Lin Ze tried the zipper one last time, and it slid very smoothly from top to bottom.
He looked at his masterpiece with satisfaction; it was better than he had expected.
Because Lin Ze's bed at home is very big—otherwise, even someone as tall as 1.81 meters wouldn't be able to sleep in it. After trying to stretch it out, it felt a bit loose. But the senior's small bed is different; it inexplicably feels compact.
It was just right.
Lin Ze turned around and saw Kitagawa Ayane sitting to the side, enjoying the breeze from the fan, resting her chin on her hand as she watched Lin Ze finish the last bit of the assembly process.
But as soon as their eyes met, she quickly looked away guiltily.
"All done, senior, throw that sign to me."
"Which one?" Kitagawa Ayane asked, looking puzzled.
"Didn't I just show you the sign with the logo? It's supposed to be hung above the dog kennel."
"I vaguely remember it, but I haven't seen it."
As she spoke, she looked around, then looked under the table and even under her own bottom.
We couldn't find any trace of the thing he was talking about.
Lin Ze watched her performance quietly, without saying a word.
"I was busy just now, so I might have misplaced it somewhere. Maybe I'll look for it again another day?" Kitagawa Ayane suggested.
In fact, the ground was indeed a mess because various wrapping papers were scattered on the ground and the foam in the boxes had been spilled out.
Finding that palm-sized sign is no easy task.
However, Lin Ze did not think so.
He watched as his senior scratched her head and feigned innocence, and said casually, "I just saw you sneakily pick up that sign."
Kitagawa Ayane: "..."
Her eyes dimmed.
So he got up dejectedly, walked straight past Lin Ze, reached out to the bay window behind the curtains, and took out the sign that read "Ayane's House".
Actually, the doghouse looks fine now, and she can accept it, but hanging up this sign with the bone symbol is just too embarrassing.
She obediently offered it with both hands, but her expression clearly showed some embarrassment and annoyance.
Lin Ze's lips curled up slightly.
To be honest, the senior's angry yet helpless expression was kind of cute.
After hanging the sign up, he could declare the job done and breathed a sigh of relief.
He pulled open a corner and turned around.
"Shall we try climbing in?" Lin Ze said to his senior.
"Are you sure you want it?"
She tried to put up a last bit of resistance.
"We've put in so much effort, how will we know the results if we don't try?"
"Okay, I'm going to wash my feet."
Running around the room barefoot, Kitagawa Ayane didn't want to go to bed right away. She went to the bathroom first to wash her feet clean, and then dried them thoroughly.
Under Lin Ze's supervision, he lifted a corner of the bed curtain and climbed in.
Suddenly.
The whole world turned pitch black.
There was not a single ray of light.
"This light-blocking effect is just too good..." she murmured to herself.
"You can turn on the light. I've already connected the wiring for you. It's on the switch right next to me."
"Okay, I'll look for it."
Kitagawa Ayane groped around in the dark and soon found a hard switch, which she pressed with a "click".
Suddenly.
At the very top of the bed, a round backlight illuminated, casting a soft, non-glaring glow that made everything around her clearly visible: her long, folded legs, the sheets, and the soft white blankets.
Hidden in the shadows are folded corners, a vast world condensed into a small space.
She looked around in surprise. The one-bedroom apartment was already small, and now the space was compressed to just a tiny bit, but... but it gave her a very strange feeling.
She felt as if she were trapped in an embrace, the edges of the bed completely isolated from the outside world, forming an independent little space that gave her the illusion that no one would find out what she was doing. It was a kind of lingering sense of secret joy in her heart.
Safety...not being disturbed.
It was as if once she entered this little haven, everything outside was irrelevant to her. The ceaseless hustle and bustle of the day and night was "whooshed" away tens of thousands of light-years later and disappeared.
She felt a strange, gradual peace spreading within her, and the lingering anxiety slowly faded away.
"By the way, there's also this."
Lin Ze's voice reached her doghouse, and a few seconds later, the curtain was lifted, and the huge plush toy was unpacked and stuffed into her arms.
Kitagawa Ayane paused for a moment.
Then she hugged the doll tightly.
She lowered her head and stared at the large bone in her hand.
"This...is also part of the treatment?"
No, this is a gift for you.
"A gift? For...me?"
Kitagawa Ayane subconsciously pointed to herself. As if struck by those words, disbelief filled her eyes, and her expression froze for a few seconds.
From small to large.
She never accepted anything from any boy.
No one else would simply shove the item into her arms like Lin Ze did.
“I thought this would be a good place in your bed, so I bought it. Dogs usually have their own toys, right? Of course, this is not meant to be offensive, and you should understand what I mean.”
Listening to Lin Ze's voice.
She blinked.
That's quite a peculiar gift...
Lin Ze was holding a plush toy that was about half her height. When she picked it up, it felt like she had to use both her arms and legs to hug it. However, the plush toy was soft and felt very nice to touch.
"Alright, that's enough," he stepped aside and leaned against the wall by the bay window. "Let my senior enjoy this in peace."
At the doctor's request.
Kitagawa Ayane lay on her back in the doghouse he had carefully arranged.
This room.
I fell into an indescribable silence.
Time passes minute by minute.
But she was completely unaware.
……
It's still the intersection of Chiyoda Line and Den Den Shokai Road.
Two women walked across the zebra crossing and strolled beside a row of neat shops, their high heels clicking rhythmically on the ground.
The black, bodycon skirt swayed with her steps, occasionally revealing a glimpse of her fair ankle, only to be quickly covered again by the skirt.
Time works its magic on women, giving them an indescribable charm in their thirties and forties.
A series of soft laughs were more pleasant than the ringing of wind chimes.
They were carrying brown paper bags from the shopping store and slinging their purses over their shoulders, clearly having just returned from the mall laden with purchases.
"Really? Xiao Linze is already doing an internship? I remember he only entered university not long ago."
"No way, when you had your birthday that year, he started school the very next day. You were a freshman then, and now you've had several birthdays already?"
"Ningning! You know I never count how many birthdays I've had, because that means I'm a year older, which is horrible," said the very attractive Aunt Meiyue, who was being held by Lin Yuning's arm.
