Chapter 73 Online Chat Begins
Chapter 73 Online Chat Begins
She felt like she was about to grow a new brain, but that new brain couldn't seem to explain the bizarre scene before her.
She raised her hand and painfully rubbed her temples.
Seeing Sunny's bewildered expression and glancing at Taeyeon who looked much more relaxed, Yoona finally felt a huge weight lifted from her heart.
Okay, at least for now... we've managed to fool these two unnies about their weird state.
As for letting Kang Cheol out at night to have an online romance with Taeyeon...
Yoona sighed silently to herself, deciding to talk about it when she got back.
An eerie silence fell over the practice room. Only Sunny looked around, her face full of question marks.
After finally getting through the ordeal, Yoona dragged her exhausted body back to her apartment.
As soon as you open the door, a rich and enticing aroma of food wafts out.
She paused for a moment, then subconsciously sniffed.
There were three or four delicious-looking dishes laid out on the table, and Jiang Che was carrying two bowls of rice out of the kitchen.
"You're back?" Jiang Che's eyes lit up when he saw her. After setting the food down, he asked, "Um... how did things go?"
Yoona didn't answer immediately. Her gaze swept over the plate of bright red sweet and sour pork, the perfectly fried tofu, and the bubbling seafood soup on the table.
She glanced at Jiang Che again and saw that there were still some fine beads of sweat on his forehead, probably because he had just finished working.
Fine, I'll let it go for the sake of this table full of food.
The thought that had originally been to whip Jiang Che's corpse a hundred times was inexplicably suppressed by the aroma of the food.
She sighed, tossed her bag onto the sofa, and slumped wearily into the dining chair: "Let's eat first. I'm starving."
"Okay, sure!" Jiang Che quickly handed over the chopsticks and sat down opposite him.
Yoona picked up her chopsticks and took a bite of the dish. The taste was as good as ever; this guy's cooking skills were definitely a valuable asset for retirement.
Jiang Che ate his rice while observing her expression, trying to hold back, but he couldn't help himself:
"So... what exactly happened?"
Yoona swallowed the food in her mouth, rolled her eyes at him, and then briefly recounted what had happened at the company.
Jiang Che's mouth opened slightly as he heard this:
"Wait, wait a minute..." He took a moment to process the amount of information:
"So the current situation is that Taeyeon is going to text me tonight, which is Yoona #2? And I... am also responsible for chatting with her?"
Upon hearing the words "Yoona No. 2," Yoona's lips twitched involuntarily again.
"Otherwise what? Should I tell Taeyeon unnie, 'Hey—the one you've got your eye on is actually a Ditto?'"
What on earth is going on here?! Jiang Che felt that the plot was getting more and more surreal. First, there was time travel and transformation, then it was about conning people into investing, and now they've developed a chat service. Is this even a legitimate chat service?
Hiss... This business is starting to resemble business in northern Myanmar more and more, so the world has finally turned into a completely unfamiliar place for him.
He hesitated for a moment, then asked:
"When should I start talking? Won't that reveal that there are two of us?"
Yoona paused for a moment, then said:
"No, I go to bed at 23 PM, and I won't reply to messages after that. Just chat again in half an hour."
Jiang Che hesitated, then nodded silently. For the rest of the meal, both of them ate with little appetite, lost in their own thoughts. The only sound in the restaurant was the soft clinking of bowls and chopsticks. Night fell.
That evening, after Yoona finished showering, she saw Kang Cheol huddled in the corner of the sofa, staring at his phone with a complicated expression, seemingly lost in thought.
Seeing this, Yoona felt inexplicably irritated. After returning to her room and lying on the bed, she couldn't fall asleep at all.
'What is Taeyeon unnie thinking? It's like she's been bewitched in just two days! I've had no problems for the past two months, and that guy... judging by his current state, he's probably secretly gloating!'
She rolled around on the bed in frustration, her mind inexplicably a jumble of thoughts. Just as she was trying to clear her mind, the screen of her phone, which was lying on the bedside table, lit up. It was a text message from Taeyeon.
[Yoona, are you asleep? When will she come out? [cautiously.jpg]]
Yoona stared at the message, as if she could see Taeyeon's expectant yet slightly timid face through the screen.
Since it was her own words, she resignedly picked up her phone.
[Unnie, I usually go to bed at 23 PM. She should be able to come out after I fall asleep.]
The response there was almost instantaneous.
OK! Goodnight, Yoona! Get some rest! ( ̄︶ ̄)
Yoona tossed her phone onto the bedside table, closed her eyes, and tried to fall asleep, but her mind kept wandering to uncontrollable images:
What will that guy talk about with Taeyeon later? What will Taeyeon say to him? And how will he respond?
The more I thought about it, the more agitated I became, as if a kitten was scratching at my heart.
Crazy, crazy, crazy!
"Smack!" She subconsciously slapped her forehead lightly.
"Yoona! Wake up! Taeyeon unnie's gone crazy, are you going crazy too? That's a shapeshifter, she doesn't even have her own face! Pshaw, even having her own face isn't okay, what are you thinking? She's a girl!"
She collapsed and pulled the blanket over her head, struggling with herself for what seemed like an eternity before finally drifting off to sleep.
Outside the living room, Jiang Che sat cross-legged on the sofa, looking somewhat absent-minded, but what was bound to happen would happen anyway.
Finally, the phone screen lit up, accompanied by a slight vibration.
[Taeyeon: Are you there?]
Jiang Che looked at the message and then glanced at Yoona's tightly closed door.
He took a deep breath, hovered his finger over the screen for a few seconds as if considering his tone, and then typed his reply.
The next morning, Lim Yoona rubbed her eyes and walked out of the bedroom, immediately seeing Kang Cheol busy in the kitchen with his back to her. But unlike his usual energetic self, he seemed a little unsteady on his feet today.
Yoona didn't think much of it. When she finished washing up and was about to have breakfast, she suddenly realized—good heavens, two huge dark circles were sticking out of his eyes, making him look like a panda.
"What did you do last night..." Yoona asked casually as she pulled out a chair and sat down.
"What did you do? Why are you like this? Did Taeyeon unnie message you?"
"It's more than just hair..." Jiang Che let out a huge yawn:
"I had to add KakaoTalk too. Maybe I was too excited on the first day. I was talking a lot and asking one question after another. I felt like I was attending a celebrity online fan meeting that lasted until the early hours of the morning, and it was an exclusive VIP one-on-one meeting."
He scooped a spoonful of rice into his mouth, his eyes fixed blankly:
"I need to go back and catch up on some sleep after I finish eating. I feel completely drained right now..."
Looking at his almost transcendent appearance, and glancing at the still delicious-looking breakfast on the table, Yoona felt that inexplicable sense of irritation well up in her heart again.
She picked up her chopsticks and asked, seemingly casually:
"Why bother registering for KakaoTalk? Aren't you using enough text messages?"
