Chapter 21 The Isolated Gensokyo
Chapter 21 The Isolated Gensokyo
A mother once said that the more beautiful a woman is, the more likely she is to lie.
Mordred didn't understand how Zhang Wuji's still-attractive mother could say such a thing, but he thought it made sense, even though he didn't have a mother.
But not having a mother doesn't mean not having a father. In terms of beauty, Neos, who has left behind many legends, is certainly no less handsome, which also means that this big golden guy is even better at deceiving people.
"Father, your armor is so cool! I want one too!" Tom's voice resonated with the company commander, who also liked the dark, ascetic-style skin.
"Forget about it. This is a gift from His Majesty to Father. Just wear your Terminator!"
Brian was right. Even though the Second Army is generally large, the armor that is adapted to the Primarch's size is almost as big as the Dreadnought. For Tom's small frame, it's like a pony driving a big cart.
However, Mordred's reply was not what Brian had expected.
"If you like it, I'll make you one too, but we'll have to wait until I get back and take this armor apart first."
The two men didn't understand why their father would waste such a precious resource. Before they could even speak, Mordred gestured for them to shut up and followed him to the bridge.
"Rambo, take these things to the storeroom for me and give them to the Great Sage to study."
Rambo nodded slightly, glancing subconsciously at the collar around his neck, a hint of understanding flashing in his seemingly dull eyes.
[What?! You're praising my cooking? Why don't you try a bite?! You'd even fool a dog! Pah!]
As a good apprentice and brother trained from childhood, Rambo is deeply trusted by Mordred. He has dragged his boss to tactical retreats more than once. Now he is the top police officer in the peaceful world and a military dog with truly amazing intelligence.
There can't be two suns in the sky, and a dog can't have two masters. Rambo never accepts charity from others. If the boss is sending me away now, then it must be because I have a problem.
"Yes, boss! Mission accomplished!"
As Rambo ran towards the warehouse, the three of them turned and headed toward the bridge. When the door opened, several legion leaders were already seated, and even the Great Sage Kragg ran over from the laboratory.
"Great Sage, weren't you in the storeroom...?"
"Shut up, or I'll throw you into a bar as a bunny girl. It's all your fault, byd. You chased me for ten hours and still couldn't tell I was the Primarch. Go get me a glass of orange juice, and then all of you come closer. I have something to say."
Before Tom could speak, Mordred's expression turned ugly. No one had ever seen their father so angry. His face was so dark it looked like water could be squeezed out of it. It took him a large bucket of orange juice to calm down.
"Damn it, this bastard actually tried to spy on me, you dog, you deserve to be abandoned by everyone!"
Even if you're trying to spy on me, don't do it so sloppily! Do you really think I'm some kind of Oglin? Is that hole in your mouth for breathing? Would it kill you to say something?!
Tom, where was I? Oh right, Tom, you're getting to the bar as a Playboy Bunny in a minute, and don't come back until you've worked there for three months.
Hearing his father punish him like this, the Eighth Company Commander felt a chill run down his spine. This was worse than death for him. The thought of being ridiculed by everyone in the future made this big man feel so ashamed that he almost cried.
The other company commanders were also trembling with fear, their usual jovial demeanor gone, replaced by an air of "better to die than see my friend suffer," which only fueled Mordred's anger.
"Yes, father."
"Speak louder, I didn't hear you!"
"Yes, Father, I promise to be a proper bunny girl!"
The Eighth Company Commander's roar echoed throughout the bridge, and everyone looked at Tom with pity. But soon they didn't need to pity him anymore, because Mordred had already turned his attention to the others.
"This is a lesson. I know you all went to other legions, and some of you even made it to the higher ranks. But now you are my offspring. Atlas can only have one voice, and that is me! I don't care what bad habits you had before you came. It's been two and a half years, and you should know my preferences by now."
I acknowledge that you are all qualified soldiers, but I would prefer you to be my good children!
Tom sending people to Qatar for the bloodbath might quickly screen out qualified recruits, but is that really a good idea, Brian? What do you say?
"Ah? Me."
The company commander who was singled out had no idea about this. He had gone to study at the First Army Corps, and in his view, this was a very common thing. Tom's method might have a slightly higher mortality rate, but other corps did it this way.
“Father, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with what Tom did. Even among the exemplary First Legion, this is in line with everyone’s understanding. After all, only hardship can forge a resilient warrior.”
Seeing that everyone else, including the Great Sage, nodded in agreement, Mordred finally realized the problem: he was still the outcast and alienated man.
The tranquil purity blinded him; no matter how cruel the living conditions were, everything outside of the law of the jungle could be described as simple.
"Ah~"
A sigh drew concern from the crowd. Several company commanders from Atlas did not understand why their father sighed, as if Brian's words had created a thick, invisible barrier between the Primarch and them.
"Father, what's wrong with you?"
"I'm fine, I just miss home a little."
“Home? Father, don’t worry, we’ll be back to peace soon. Did Brian upset you? Why don’t you send him to the bar too, so he can keep Tom company?”
Looking at Goff, who was trying to liven things up, Mordred shook his head. Only he knew that he might never be able to go back.
Through their blood ties, all the Second Legion warriors on the Abomination Paradigm stopped what they were doing, looked up at the bridge, and felt the Primarch's sorrow.
Atlas began to spontaneously assemble and head towards the bridge where the Primarch was located. Even though they did not know why their father was so sad, they, as his offspring, had to go and share his grief.
Brian felt like he was going to die. As the crowd grew larger and larger, countless eyes seemed to want to tear him apart, but he still didn't know what he had said wrong.
He swore to Holy Terra that he truly had no intention of upsetting his father, and everything he said was absolutely true. Fortunately, the company commander wasn't just talking; he knew to ask questions.
"Father, did I say something wrong?"
"No, you're not wrong. None of you are wrong. It's my problem. I haven't changed my perspective and am still looking at the world from the old point of view. But I don't think I'm wrong either."
This talk of the left brain attacking the right brain confused everyone, but their puzzled expressions amused Mordred, who burst into laughter, which grew louder and louder.
"I am not wrong; the world is wrong. This cesspool has corrupted you. This world should not be like this, and you should not be like this either."
Since it's become an unattainable fantasy, I'm determined to make that memory a reality. Screw God, nobody can change me.
I can't keep lying to myself.
"Children, the Second Legion needs to change. I will lead you on a truly glorious path! We will be the light of humanity!"
Having finished consoling himself, Mordred raised his hands, ready to receive cheers from his offspring. But he waited and waited, and no one praised him. So he turned around and looked in the direction his offspring were looking.
"Hmm? A lowly demon."
