Chapter 89 The Incarnation of the Sun

The mine, one level underground.

Raven returned to the underground passage he had discovered before.

He stood with Geralt before the massive stone engraved with strange patterns, gazing at the ancient sun-like designs on it. Raven couldn't help but ask:
"Geralt, do you know what civilizations existed on this land before the Kingdom of Eindooc was established?"

Geralt thought carefully for a moment, then replied:
“Your Highness, as far as I know, before the Kingdom of Eindooc was established, this land was ruled by an ancient kingdom called the Perth Empire, but the traces here do not seem to be left by them.”

"And before that?" Raven asked again.

Geralt shook his head slightly: "I'm sorry, Your Highness, that's all I know. Perhaps some ancient scholars in the royal city will know more."

Ancient scholars are a profession that specializes in the study of ancient countries and civilizations.

"That's it..."

Raven wasn't too disappointed.

It seems that even the Pokémon world cannot escape the trajectory of development in the real world.

Wars between humans never cease. The fall of one nation will give rise to another nation and civilization on this land, in an endless cycle.

Continuing deeper, Raven soon spotted the same Golem that had attacked him and Snivy before.

Upon seeing the Pokémon, Geralt stood in front of Raven, but instead of attacking, he nodded to the Haxorus beside him.

The next second, a cold light flashed from the giant axe-shaped teeth of the two-axe war dragon as it cleaved towards the rumbler.

With a single blow, the golem was driven back and hurriedly fled to other areas.

“Alright, Your Highness, we can continue now,” Geralt said.

Raven: "..."

I have to say, having such a powerful and muscular man around really makes you feel incredibly safe!
The two continued downwards along the naturally formed tunnel inside the mine.

The further down you go, the darker the surroundings become.

Geralt took out a torch he had prepared beforehand and lit it. In an instant, the orange flame illuminated everything around him.

Gradually, some obvious traces of buildings began to appear ahead, but after the passage of time, these buildings had long since become dilapidated.

"Your Highness, please be careful, we have gone deep underground." Geralt and the Double-Axe Dragon were wary of their surroundings.

Raven hummed in agreement, but soon his attention was drawn to the ancient murals carved on the surrounding walls.

It depicts a group of humans wearing grass skirts and animal skins.

They hunted across the land, armed with bows and arrows, stone spears, and other tools.

Until one day, a heavy snow fell and the temperature plummeted. Many of the little figures in the murals fell to the ground, seemingly frozen to death.

Further on, those people suddenly discovered something that resembled the sun.

In the last mural, Raven saw countless tiny figures kneeling before the "sun," seemingly worshipping it as a deity.

Clearly, these little people live in an era that seems to be much older, a tribal era before civilization has even emerged.

"Unova region... Sun God..."

Looking at the "sun" that the little people were worshipping, Raven suddenly had an unbelievable guess in his mind.

Could it be that... the so-called sun doesn't refer to Solgaleo, but to Volcarona, the Pokémon known as the "incarnation of the sun"?
The Vulcan Moth is a legendary creature in the Unova region.

Legend has it that in cold lands, the fire moth was worshipped as the embodiment of the sun and was depicted as the god of fire in ancient murals.

Legend has it that it is born from a cocoon burning with flames and appears in the cold winter to help people and Pokémon suffering from the cold.

Raven had a vague idea in his mind.

This means that the relics buried beneath this mine are very likely to be closely related to the Volcano moth!
"Your Highness Raven, we're almost at the bottom, please be careful!" Geralt had a bad feeling.

There must be some unknown dangers lurking in this place. "I know." Raven looked at the Dratini and Snivy beside him, signaling them to get ready for battle as well.

After passing through a long tunnel, everything suddenly opened up before them.

This is an even larger cave, and in the center of the cave stands a dilapidated ancient ruin covered in dust.

Judging from the upright stone pillars and the pyramid-like stepped structure, it is clearly a relic from the tribal era.

However, what's even more shocking than all of this is that the temperature inside the cave is actually higher than outside!

Even more bizarrely, despite being underground, there was light in this cave!

It was a kind of firelight that made people feel warm.

"Your Highness, please be careful! There's the aura of a monster here!" Geralt drew his sword and warned.

The Haxorus also assumed a fighting stance.

"Bodhidharma!"

Accompanied by a series of slightly rough cries, several Pokémon with fiery red bodies, gorilla-like appearances, and two thick fists jumped out from the corner.

That's... a Dharma baboon!
Without a word, the baboons swung their fists and attacked Geralt and the Double-Haxer Dragon who were blocking their way.

With a clang, Geralt held his sword horizontally against his body to defend himself.

The enormous, fiery red fist slammed into the blade with a resounding boom. Despite the immense impact of the Daruma baboon's attack, Geralt remained firmly planted on the ground, completely still.

"Dharma?!" The Darma baboon's face showed a surprised expression, as if wondering how this human could block its attack.

But the next second, Geralt suddenly exerted force with his right hand, the hilt of his sword vibrated, and he knocked the Darmo baboon back while simultaneously pursuing it with his sword.

"Bodhidharma—!"

The attack struck squarely, and the Damo baboon cried out in pain as it flew backward.

Geralt did not kill him; he repelled the Darmanitan using only the scabbard.

However, the other baboons around them, upon seeing this, immediately became enraged.

"Dharma Dharma Dharma—!"

They pounded their chests with their enormous fists, then charged toward Geralt and Raven from all directions.

"Your Highness, be careful!"

Geralt and the Axe Dragon charged forward in perfect unison, but there were simply too many Damon Baboons and Red Tumblers. Several of them managed to break through their defenses and reach Raven.

"Snivy, Vine Whip, Mini Dragon, Tornado!"

Raven remained calm and issued commands to the two Pokémon beside him.

"Whizzing!"

With two whooshing sounds, the Snivy released two vine whips, wielding them to repel the attacking Daruma baboon and the fiery red roly-poly toy.

The Dratini also spewed out scorching dragon breath to fend off an attack from a Daruma baboon.

In just a few minutes, the surrounding baboons and fiery red roly-poly toys were driven back with the combined efforts of the group.

The baboons retreated somewhat fearfully, gathering in front of the ruins, jumping and howling as they went.

"Boom!"

It was accompanied by a loud sound.

A huge "sun," radiating scorching heat, slowly rose from the ruins.
