Infinite Gods Reign Supreme

Chapter 92 Why did you have to hit this guy of all people?

Chapter 92 Why did you have to hit this person of all people...?

'Da da—da da—'

The sound was crisp and clear.

'Da da—da da—'

The tone was quiet and ethereal.

That sound shouldn't be coming from here.

The footsteps shouldn't have come from the outer corridor.

Because Julian had prepared thirty-three traps, twenty-five guards, seventeen layers of protection, decoys, and deception barriers outside the safe house. There were also six independently operating detection beacons. And most importantly, there wasn't a single corridor outside this hideout capable of producing an echo!

—It's her.

Julian gritted his teeth slightly, the image of the woman who wore a long dress and high heels even on the battlefield flashing through his mind—her face, even just in his mind, displayed an unexpected beauty. An invisible temptation surged within him, making his heart pound faster.

The sound of high heels grew louder as they approached.

'Bang bang—bang bang—' The heart inside the chest pounded more and more violently.

His blood rushed to his head, and his nerves tensed. He didn't know if his heart would burst out of his body; he only knew that he had to do something to escape this impending death!
—She found me…she found me!

—She…she is the most terrifying power in the Celestial Team!

His rigid thoughts suddenly began to race. His sense of responsibility as a member of the West Blue Team restored his control over himself. With a sudden burst of strength, he plunged the sharp cone into his other thigh. The cursed pain brought a jolt of clarity once more. And the next moment, the Lyra Saint armor—not originally equipped for the purpose of activating his psychic abilities—suddenly materialized onto his body!
"start up!"

The order is issued.

All defensive measures outside the hiding place were triggered at this moment.

A series of elemental explosions, buzzing sounds, and the simultaneous roar of mechanical electricity and gunfire erupted. The next moment, the silver Saint Seiya armor covering his entire body activated its internal properties, transforming a portion of his spiritual power into a dense barrier covering his entire body.

A sense of security washed over him, and he suddenly felt empowered to fight. The bombing and explosions outside lasted for a full thirty seconds, yet the sound of high heels continued to echo the next moment!

'Da da—da da—'

The clarity of the sound was still increasing.

If the previous sound was still at the end of the 'corridor', it had now reached the edge of the 'door'. Even though there was neither a 'door' nor a 'window' in Julian's hideout!
His eyes widened, larger than copper bells. The remaining fluctuations of his mental energy were about to surge forth, but were suppressed by an unprecedentedly powerful sense of crisis.

Can not watch.

Watching this will only lead to your death.

No, it's worse than death. Once you open your eyes that you shouldn't have, you're destined to experience unprecedented terror and despair!
'call--'

Julian was drenched in cold sweat. His gasp was so sharp that he didn't even make a sound. Many guesses surged through his mind, only to be dismissed, while more commands were unconsciously triggered in the blink of an eye.

This woman… this thing that looks like a 'woman'. Who exactly is she…?

'Clang—clang clang—'

A slight sound.

The crisp metallic clanging sent shivers down Julian's spine with each strike. He instinctively drew the harp weapon that came with his Saint Cloth, but dared not pluck a single string. Only after the three clanging sounds—one slow and two fast—ended did he realize what was happening before his eyes.

Is this...is it a knock?
Why would a reincarnator knock on the door at a time like this?
It's incomprehensible, yet there's no way to avoid it.

One long knock followed by two short ones rang out again. However, the already crisp knocking sound seemed even clearer now!

No, that's not right!

The knocking sound... why does it seem to be echoing from the inside of this hiding place?!
Scalp numbness.

Cold sweat broke out again.

By all accounts, fleeing immediately is the most sensible option. But how can one properly escape from such an unknown opponent… no, from it?

—We must…at least obtain some intelligence!
Otherwise, how could Reinhardt and I possibly delay things...?

A flash of inspiration. The prototype of Reinhardt's bloodline suddenly appeared in Julian's mind. It is said that a truly pure vampire, if rejected, cannot willingly enter a room already occupied. So…

try it!
"Get out!" He clenched his fist, a talisman already poised for activation gripping his hand. "You're not welcome here!"

The knocking stopped abruptly.

Before he could even catch his breath, a woman's soft laughter suddenly filled the air—a seductive sound with an undeniable allure. Even though he couldn't see the person, Julian's mind instantly conjured up an image of an extremely beautiful and elegant woman, with flawless white skin, gently concealing her delicate face with a folding fan, yet still possessing captivating eyes that shone like clear water.

"West Sea Team".

The sound emanated clearly from within the enclosed space.

"The gods are not bloodthirsty. If you leave now, you will be safe."

The hostility in that voice wasn't particularly strong.

And as the warning spread, a blurry shadow rapidly solidified, evolving from an indistinguishable mass of darkness into a tangible human form.

—It's a shadow!

Julian's gaze sharpened. He was able to determine this so quickly because he himself had witnessed the enhancement of the Shadow Walk series of skills—he had chosen a different cost in the past due to other considerations. However, this did not mean that his understanding of this enhancement had diminished.

It turned out to be the case.

—Did you hide in the shadows, thus avoiding the outer defensive layer that was detonated? And just now, you used the method of moving through shadows to play tricks, thus creating such a frightening illusion?

Julian desperately tried to convince himself it was true, but every cell in his body screamed and wailed that death was already upon him. Any attempt at delay or negotiation would be tantamount to suicide. The only course of action at this moment was—escape!
The teleportation rune shattered abruptly. A landmine planted beforehand beneath their feet was immediately triggered. This was a specially modified gravity mine, its power and detonation speed adjusted by the main god, requiring a side quest to purchase. At the moment of activation, it even had the effect of disrupting teleportation attempts other than those using the rune in Julian's hand.

'Om—'

Even after being teleported hundreds of meters away, the immense gravitational force still resonated in Julian's senses. He was certain that his original hiding place had been completely twisted into a pretzel. Yet, even so, the sense of crisis within him continued to grow rapidly.

On the outside, fierce fighting continues.

But from just a short distance away, the sound of high heels still echoed clearly.

run!
Don't worry about anything, don't fight back, don't spy, just run as fast as you can!

His body moved swiftly. The second teleportation rune had to be used at an even more crucial juncture. He didn't know what was behind him, nor dared he turn back or stop. He only knew he couldn't walk in a straight line; he had to make good use of every corner that might obstruct his view!
'Boom—' A sharp gust of wind howled.

His inner universe began to operate at full capacity, and the second-tier gene lock, which he had been trying his best to hide, instinctively opened. Julian had never imagined that his first all-out effort would be a desperate escape from friendly territory. However, at this moment, he didn't even have much room for further thought.

"Sir!"

His mind connected with a group of dark soldiers stationed nearby, carrying armored behemoths and equipped with heavy firepower for positional warfare.

"Hold this place tight, do everything in your power. There are powerful invaders behind us!"

"Yes!"

He gave the order.

He crossed them.

He heard only silence. The dark legion he had left behind melted away silently in the unknown darkness before they could even fire a shot.

"Is it you... from behind?"

His thoughts raced once more, this time connecting him to two Black Knights leading elite troops. They were originally on their way to reinforce the front lines, which were being directly attacked by the Celestials. But now, they came in handy.

"There's an intruder behind us! She's very strong, I can't handle her, please help!"

"Ha, leave it to us."

He made the request.

He ran away from them.

The next moment, they too plunged into darkness. There were no roars, no howls, no fighting, no firing.

There is only death.

Only death.

He crushed the second teleportation rune. This time, he found himself in a wide plaza. Reinhardt's mental activity was clearly visible to him. He no longer had time to continue linking with and scanning for his companions lurking in other areas.

"—It's death! That woman wields the power of shadow and death. Don't appear directly within her field of vision. She may possess special techniques capable of killing us in one strike!"

His figure suddenly blurred, an effect of a magical artifact. It allowed him to vanish into an invisible realm, much like the seventh-circle spell 'Aetherification'. However, his vision remained intact, and the area he inhabited was a vast expanse of pure gray and white. There were no shadows, and no light!

The woman's figure reappeared in the square.

The moment she appeared, this dark territory within the dragon's lair burst into light—all shadows were instantly engulfed and covered. Accompanying this was a sudden explosion of blood mist, and within it, the targeted power originating from Reinhardt!
'boom--! ! ! ’

It wasn't magic, nor the power of a curse. What appeared within the blood mist was—no, a set of special weapons enhanced with magic!

Enchanted tubular pulse ricochet gun, six-barreled.

It can fire more than 10,000 needle-shaped explosive projectiles in an instant!
The next moment, the woman's entire upper body was instantly pulverized by the barrage of projectiles. Vaporized. Even as remnants of her form remained, in the next instant, blazing blood flames materialized out of thin air and poured down upon her remains!

Everything went smoothly.

However, both Julian and Reinhard were filled with panic. Even though the woman had been turned to pieces right before their eyes, and the announcement of the scores from the Supreme God was still delayed, a sense of foreboding rapidly grew within them, and they had nowhere to escape.

A sound echoed from the blood and flesh still being bombarded by the tube pulse ricochet gun.

"If you refuse a toast, you'll have to drink a penalty shot."

The voice remained elegant.

The tone remained languid, gentle, and serene.

But the next moment, darkness surged forth from the shattered flesh. It expanded, in an inconceivable way, creating a patch of darkness out of thin air in the spell-lit plaza. And faces emerged and sprouted from that darkness.

The reincarnators of the West Sea Team recognized those faces—they belonged to the Dark Legion, to those who had submitted to Bragi, but were still essentially human beings. Many of them had even cooperated with the members of the West Sea Team and exchanged words with them. Yet now, their fallen corpses were constantly emerging from the darkness, piling up in an instant to the shape of a small mountain.

The pulse ricochet gun, which wasn't operating at full capacity, stopped.

At some point, the sounds of battle inside and outside the evil dragon's lair had become sparse and faded away.

Julian, enveloped in ethereal energy, and Reinhardt, hidden in the blood mist, stared blankly at the small mountain before them, piled high with at least a thousand corpses. The next moment, all the limbs rapidly dissolved and clumped together, transforming into a chaotic mass. Only pale faces remained, their lips stretched into wide, gaping grins.

"Ha ha ha ha--"

It stretched out hands and feet made up of hundreds of pale faces.

'Ha ha ha ha--'

It is advancing.

It was laughing hysterically.
