Chapter 17, Section 17: The Library
Chapter 17, Section 17: The Library
"Sheen! Sheen!"
A familiar voice made Sheen pause.
In the corridor outside the greenhouse,
The setting sun cast its last rays, making the wizard beside the Gothic stained-glass window appear even more handsome.
"Senior Bruce."
Sheen nodded as a greeting and then headed toward the greenhouse.
"You're going to visit Professor Sprout, right?"
I suggest you go back.
The professor went to Greenhouse Number Three, a place where first-year wizards are forbidden from entering.
After giving his reminder, Bruce waited for Sheen's response with his book in hand.
“…Thanks for the reminder.”
Sheen stopped in his tracks, a look of confusion in his eyes.
If Professor Sprout were not present
Based on my own knowledge of herbs, I struggled to even identify them, let alone process them.
Moreover, I don't know which herbs to process.
"You really are obsessed with magical plants..."
Seeing the longing in Sheen's eyes dim,
Bruce felt as if he had committed some heinous crime, and he reluctantly closed the book in his hands.
"Generally speaking, Professor Sprout only stays in Greenhouse No. 3 for a short period of time."
You should still be able to find her in Greenhouse Number One after class tomorrow.
He finished speaking.
Sheen's eyes immediately lit up, and he nodded seriously.
"Thank you."
You're welcome. Oh, by the way, this is for you.
Sheen looked over in confusion, only to see a dark shadow flash by, and a piece of cheese appeared in his hand.
"Dragon Milk Cheese",
Although the recipe for dragon cheese has been revised in "Enchanting Your Cheese,"
But I still think the original tastes better, and many people think so too.
Bruce chuckled, arms crossed.
"Snatching treats, a Hufflepuff tradition, even if you're Ravenclaw, who cares?"
While Sheen was examining the cheese, Bruce strode away decisively.
Sheen heard hushed conversations coming from the end of the corridor.
"I think the new version tastes better."
"Recognition."
“Pistol, Leon! You two heretics!”
Don't make me this angry right after I've shown off!
"He thinks he's very handsome..."
"Leon, this time it seems..."
"Okay, Pister, you're right."
I said, "Well done, that's very Hufflepuff."
Bruce, you're pretty good.
……
New version, original version?
Sheen guessed that this was similar to the debate over savory versus sweet tofu pudding in his previous life.
Fortunately, he likes spicy food.
Sheen glanced at the sky and decided to first complete the task he had always wanted to do.
That means going to the Hogwarts Library.
Just think about it, Hogwarts has thousands of books, and they're all free!
This alone is enough to make Sheen, who is willing to spend a fortune to buy books, drool.
Not to mention, he can even do his homework there.
Good homework completion should also be one of the criteria used by Headmaster Dumbledore for evaluation.
The Hogwarts Library is located on the second floor of Hogwarts Castle and has thousands of bookshelves containing tens of thousands of books.
This area is divided into three sections:
One is an ordinary area.
Here, Sheen saw countless bookshelves like a lush forest.
It extends in all directions with an air of self-evidentness, until it disappears into the distant darkness.
They are not entirely uniform; in some places they are uneven.
Some even require the use of creaky movable ladders to reach the top floor.
Scattered around the heavy oak table in the middle were some students engrossed in their studies.
Their faces were illuminated by the magic crystal ball floating on the table, and quills scribbled swiftly on parchment.
Sheen strained to see, but could not spot the restricted book section at the back of the library.
That's a legendary place. Voldemort found "The Secrets of Dark Magic" there and then turned himself into a mindless psychopath.
The trio found the "Powerful Potion" there and created a compound decoction. It was a veritable treasure trove.
The third area, known as the Invisibility Zone, contains most of the books on invisibility.
I don't know how to find them.
As Sheen was thinking, he picked up his small bag and prepared to find a seat, when he saw Justin shouting silently.
“Sheen! Over here!” (lip movements)
So Sheehan walked quickly toward Justin and Hermione.
"Where have you been? You always disappear after we finish eating."
Hermione raised her face, her concern turning into a questioning one.
"greenhouse."
Sheen didn't care at all and replied.
"Oh, I mean, okay, do you know how to distinguish mature white succulents?"
Hermione seemed to realize her harsh tone, wanted to make amends but didn't know how, and finally subconsciously voiced her problem.
"White licorice has a faint muttony smell, which becomes stronger when it matures."
Sheen repeated what Bruce had said, and it felt strange, as if he had inherited something.
"you know!"
Hermione covered her mouth; she had only asked casually, but she hadn't expected Sheehan to actually know.
"Is this what you got from going to the greenhouse?"
Sheen nodded. "I guess so."
"I knew it!"
Justin acted even more arrogantly than Sheehan.
Hermione blushed slightly.
"But I memorized the entire first-grade textbook, and there was absolutely no description in it."
Hermione's ears turned pink as she asked in a low voice.
"Yes, I've memorized it too, and there really isn't any description in it."
Sheen completely agreed.
"Oh my god, you've finished memorizing it too!"
Hermione covered her mouth again, cautiously peeking out from behind a thick brown book.
Looking around, he saw Mrs. Pince disciplining a young wizard, completely oblivious to what was happening here, and he breathed a sigh of relief.
"And who are you?!"
Her eyes sparkled, as if she had found someone like her.
“Hufflepuff told me this when I went to help Professor Sprout with the herbs.”
After saying that, Sheen took out "History of Magic" and parchment, deciding to finish his homework on the history of magic first.
Hermione and Justin exchanged a glance, their expressions probably being something like, "Huh?".
If Professor Binns hadn't said feet instead of inches, there wouldn't have been much homework.
Unfortunately, the professor was clearly confused, so Sheehan and his classmates received a one-foot assignment.
About one-third of a meter.
The young wizards, busy finishing their lessons, clearly didn't realize the seriousness of the problem.
But soon, Sheehan caught a glimpse of Michael and the others wearing pain masks at the second row of oak tables in the library.
"Three feet! Even if I use the maximum spacing and font size, I still can't finish it!"
Sheehan heard a loud shout, and then the people in the library looked at Michael with pity.
Michael covered his mouth at that moment, but it was too late.
Mrs. Pince strode over aggressively, her shoes making a loud clattering sound on the floor.
Sheen propped the book up, silently mourned for him, and went to collect books to write his thesis.
The papers seemed numerous, but for Sheen, they were nothing.
"A Modern History of Magic," by Galon;
Important Magical Events of the 20th Century, Four Galleons;
"Directory of Famous Contemporary Magicians, Five Galleons..."
Sheen tried to choose the more expensive books.
Expensive books are not necessarily good, but they are definitely expensive.
Once, Sheen was someone she couldn't afford to be near.
Now, they are processed for free.
